Stanley has always been on a level that most cannot comprehend, guitarists are just now beginning to make more popular his style he was doing 40 years ago!!!No one can really even come close to duplicating this master!!
I believe I first saw him busking in NYC in front of the library at Fifth Ave. and 42nd Street at lunch time . In 1980 ! And at many shows since . Never disappoints !
I saw Stanley Jordan perform live at Crossroads for my birthday many years back and it was the best present ever!!! Still have the autographs. Will never forget it. His aura was so warm and what a great performance....genius.🔥🎶
When Bernard Purdie claps for you at the end of a song you have achieved a level of playing very rare in this day and age. Stanley Jordan is a titan on guitar.
Extreme tapping. I know he's been doing this since the 80s. He plays jazz on a rock song.. well I also can do this.. but plays piano on a guitar? ..wow it's simply amazing.
perfect example of not limiting your ideas to the technology of your time man was playing music for the future most new bands try to replicate this throughout genres
This made me cry because it's so beautiful and my friend who loved it has just passed. Thankyou for such a touching rendition Stanley Jordan. Truly one of the great guitarists of all time. ❤
I don’t think any of these people in the audience are aware that they were watching three musical titans jam to the greatest song of all time. They probably thought these were just some random dudes.
Im from Argentina....I had the privilege of seeing him in Bs As 6 years ago, he was playing guitar with one hand and piano with the another hand in the same time...and he was singing too...alone in the stage...Amazing
I'm not sure Stanley will love that kind of action. Although maybe Jimmy acknowledged the greatness of Stanley's guitar skills. Isn't Jimmy Page is inspirator and idol for many world guitarists, including Stanley. Many guitarists want to be like Jimmy Page, other than become themselves. How ever, Stairway to Heaven is a masterpiece from Jimmy Page. So it feels inappropriate for a copycat to claim to be more powerful than his first creator. Moreover, Stanley Jordan is a very humble guitarist. You can see it from the interview with him on youtube. Both are great in their own league.
Glad to hear this is a spontaneous jam. ‘Cause the drummer clearly didn’t know the original arrangement, which is mind blowing. So it gets real messy at times. But Mr Jordan is the Real McCoy even at 60.
Arrangement? There's no arrangement dude. There's no sheet music. This is improv over a rock standard in the style of Stanley Jordan. Jordan was discovered as a NYC busker and The drummer is so prolific as a studio cat that he has his own beat named after him - The Purdie Shuffle.
In my opinion this is nothing more than a perversion of a Classic Rock and Roll Masterpiece. When it nolonger can be recognized it is simply just a bunch of licks strung together 😮
If Stanley Jordan was a white man playing like this,my God they would build statues of him, Black people are a great race of people, could it be that's why we're so hated? Jealousy is embedded along with hatred in the white man's psyche
That has to be Roy Marchbank or Shawn Lane. But this guy is in his own league, writing his own rules and sticking to them. He was better (more impressive) in the 1980ies though. Watching today this stuff played today is good, but not jaw dropping amazing as he was in the 80-ies. I will give him shitloads of credit though for he invented this and carried it to outer reaches of the imaginable.
Stanley is a mind-blowingly talented and original guitarist. Like, no kidding huh? But by his impossibly high standards this performance seems a little sloppy to me. He's flubbed quick a few notes and there's some buzzing with his left hand. Just not quite on his game this night I'd say.
What's going on? I was watching this guy well over 30 years ago and his effects board was all foot activated. Him screwing around with it by hand is distracting, unprofessional and just, weird?
Stanley Jordan was probably like Mozart in “Amadeus” when Stanley worked out this arrangement. “Well, that’s nice. But it doesn’t seem to go anywhere. Hmm. Did you try this?” then he blew the lid off the original. Meanwhile Jimmy Page seethed with anger.
Master at his tapping... But unbelievably sloppy at shredding in the "traditional sense". So for any of you saying "I could never play like that," keep in mind, it's clear that he spent his time and focus on one primary technique. Focus all your time on this style and you can come close... Maybe.
BRO your music's garbage no compared to his, and you have the nerve to even say sloppy do you even have a clue who you are talking about, a GOD at best who are you a nobody right !
You're trippin hard.........you need to get out more The drummer was struggling a bit with this arrangement but is a legend in his own right. This guy can play any style unlike most shredders who can't play any other styles, funk, jazz, pop, anything with finesse and feel.
@@andysmith6156nah, his shredding sucks. Sorry but it looks like you're the one that needs to get out more. Bernard is having a little trouble because apparently this was just an improv and maybe Bernard is unfamiliar with led Zeppelin. Charnette moffett on the other hand, can hang with anyone in any style.
I don't like when he plays conventionally. It takes away from his mystique. Very few people in the world (if ANYONE) can tap like he can. Random clowns can approach him with pick playing.
This guy has perfected his craft, a true brother of the arts, a gem to behold for mankind
Stanley has always been on a level that most cannot comprehend, guitarists are just now beginning to make more popular his style he was doing 40 years ago!!!No one can really even come close to duplicating this master!!
That is so true. There are a handful of great players and they are impressive. But then there is Stanley. He is on a different plane.
Except Reggie Wooten, he comes very close to duplicating Stanley.
I remember watching him in late 80's but Eddie was the man at the time
Jpder...pero que veis en Stanley...que no veis en otros?
Puedo hacer una lista ahora mismo de 20 o 30 guitarristas que tocan así...pero no todo el rato...todo el tiempo así ABURRE.

Scotty Mishoe is an absolute master of bidextral tapping
He is one of the most talented guitarists to ever set his hands to the instrument.
to say that these guys know what they're doing is an understatement
Stanley is the only person who wouldn't get kicked out if he played this at Guitar Center
How does this comment only have four likes?
This isn't for everyone, but I found it very transcendent.....wow.....

Holy shit !! What did I just watch ? Stunning and beautiful . Mind blowing .
really insane💯💥👊
WOW! 1st time hearing Stanley Jordan, and just, wow!
Pure genius!!!!!!!!!!

Where do you begin. Really pleased the world is re discovering this master
The world still goes cool and then yawns.
真正的音乐家, 能看出他是一个多么纯粹热爱音乐,研究音乐的人,整体编排太棒了!
I have this meet this Gentlemen , to say kind , Loving , Humble , is not Justice , but Beauty , and Chops , with Grace
Absolutely splendid
I've never seen anyone play a guitar like that . And believe me... I've seen a lot of guitarist . Absolutely Mind boggling and I love it.
I was blessed to see him here twice before I moved to Honduras. So lucky.
Holy Christmas.. that's Alot of notes!!!
To je něco neuvěřitelného, co člověk dokáže !!!!!!!
With a pick in his hands SJ sounds like a lot of guys…but man when he puts both hands on the fretboard…he’s sublime and in touch with heaven itself ❤❤
This smile...
Stanley Jordan is the greatest musician ever
lol not at all
I will not argue that assertion. Where does it come from? And Where does this live in a human being?
@@lunarlight3131 thank you because i am the greatest of all eternity!!! 🙂👍🏾

The first time where i saw Charnett Moffett it was in the 90's with Ornette Coleman and Denardo ; what a bass player !!!
Imagine randomly listening to this without watching the video and then getting your head absolutely ripped off when you actually watch the video 😲😲
Incrível... Como este homem... músico...

Best best best , having great time and pleasure to watch how genuis discover the sound universe
Wonderful
magnificent
Amazing
He can't stop.
Omg why so little views!?!! If only more people realized this talent 😭
I said that years ago but Eddie was more famous?....
Because it's dated and dull?
It sounds lame and sloppy. Techniques are not everything. I wouldn't watch this guy live for free!

Not the greatest song of all time, thats a ridiculous, statement.
Probably not.
@@user-qb6fq5xr6bno, it’s the greatest. He’s right about that. Wrong, however, to assume the audience didn’t know what they paid for.
❤❤❤❤❤
Still relevant and exceptional. Would have liked to see him and Prince perform together.
There's Vaughan Clapton Hendrix and a host of other masters but NOW THERE'S JORDAN . . . WOW!
HEAVEN!!!
First thought it was a bass until the 2nd solo then realized it's a stand up piano on the 3rd solo!
What did I just see? RARE!!!!!!!!!!!!
In awe. Simply amazing.
Good come from Thailand
Great!!!!!! I love... As a musician ❤❤❤❤😂😂
He is always at least playing the part of three musicians, at a minimum. Nobody is close to his unique ability.
There's only one Stanley Jordan... nuff said.
😮
Solo with one hand!!!
Eddie Van Who? Just saw Stanley recently and he is of another world.
I keep saying this. Eddie was in the right band at the right time. Very similar style
I don't know why some fairly well-established band hasn't picked up Stanley (as a hired gun) like was done with Vai, etc.
Because you can't put a leash on a dragon
Hey Paige if you are watching this, stick a white flag on your guitar.
I'm not sure Stanley will love that kind of action. Although maybe Jimmy acknowledged the greatness of Stanley's guitar skills. I feel so little when I watch him play. Also, I don't think he even needs to look at the fret board!
I margine if he was to play this at a guitar store 😂
Stanley Jordan's guitar playing is almost as good as his hair
😂
His tapping style is more like playing piano on the guitar. Like many other great musicians you only get one Stanley Jordan.
I’ve never heard this jazzed up version. I prefer the original article. I guess I’m just old and set in my ways.
In my opinion this is nothing more than a perversion of a Classic Rock and Roll Masterpiece. When it nolonger can be recognized it is simply just a bunch of licks strung together 😮
It is still easily recognized. It's an interpretation, but that's the guys act.

How is Eddie van halen so famous and I've never even heard of this guy??
Stanka Džordan.
They just might let him play that at Guitar Center.
Stanley plays the piano on a guitar neck
When the drummer has never heard "Stairway to heaven" 3:55
You have to coordinate all three halves of your brain to do that. I have tried. And I am missing something.
Кто это???
Get's a lil' messy here and there.. still it's amazingly wonderful
Stanley Clark & Stanley Jordan it’s like the same soul playing their instruments
Stanley’s got nothing on Scotty Mishoe!
