2:20 m8 I've done 6 years of athletics (I'm now 14) and I've done the full 6 years 60 m sprint here are some tips if you want to sprint like couple milliseconds faster 1. For acceleration: keep on your toes and lean a 45 degrees forward (only the first 10 meters) 2. Keep your head up when u reach top speed and have a 90 degree posture so your knees will take a higher trajectory, which means bigger steps with the same power 3. Only pull on your arms the first 5 to 10 meters 4. Keep your arms close to your body so you don't 'sway' them diagonal but parralel to your body, this will result in ur legs being straight and having better profile and you can give more power with less muscle. Like so he can see
On your 10m sprints you were already slowing down by the time you got to the end. Sprint all the way mate! Great video. Never stop playing. 45 years old and still playing full blooded every week (when not in lockdown...)

As someone who definitely can't run more than a 1k and completely unqualified to give advice here. Do you think you can match that or do you need an extra touch or two? Hypothetically lets say he touched the ball 3 times in 65M we can break this down into 3 lots of 20M (skipping the last 2), he did it in a lot more touches (7 I think) Have cones at each 20 meter line. That's where you'll kick the ball and run onto it. You will probably have an easier time controlling your touch if you actually can pinpoint a location you're a passing to and b running onto. You should also break down your sprint into shorter segments. Sprinting 65 meters at full tilt every single time will only make you tired, sloppy and slow. That being said how fast can you run 60 meters without dribbling to begin with. You can do a variety of drills. First touch drills, then first touch + sprinting over the first 20 meters. Running start drills where you maybe start at the 10 meter line kick the ball to the 20 meter cone and sprint onto it to mimic your second touch at a sprint or the ball is on the cone and you sprint onto it and continue. Bottom line you need to be able to match Mbappe across all segments. His start middle and finish. As he was being contested by a few defends maybe aim to do 60M in 5 touches, so 5 by 10M then go from there adding in touches and shorter or longer segments to mimic directional changes.
From my personal experience as a fair to middling sprinter; a sprint is not just about the fastest start it's about how quickly and smoothly you can accelerate up to a top speed and transition. You are actually making things much harder to master by involving a ball. If you really want to improve your speed you need to master your transition and stride length and that will help you switch between kicking the ball and going back into your flow. What makes Mbappe so quick is how consistent his line and length is, and how well he is able to adjust his stride pattern to find his feet back at the ball. As towasin akindele says in your comments, watch your start at 12:19 in 0.25 speed. Your left foot is set to the line, but when you make your burst your left foot is a good 50cm behind the line. Your right leg meanwhile is completely straight. Two mechanical issues are happening here, 1. you are losing 50cm of burst as you reset your feet, this also changes your stance, and shifts your centre of gravity to your right foot as you bring your left back to start your run etc. 2. You have no elasticity or spring in your right leg so no burst from it to help you snap away from your first stride as a result of part 1. Effectively instead of having stored energy ready to use for propulsion you are using it to keep your balance. To fix this a little you need to shorten the distance between your feet, and try and have both legs bent a little, but not as much as you currently do. This will let you lean forwards more. NFL Wide Receiver stance is of some interest here. If you really want to improve this aspect though, try walking at a 90 degree angle to the direction you want to go in, and then as your strong foot lands - burst off from it. Do it in both directions, off either foot, to try and build up your confidence in pushing off without doing the stutter. More difficult, but equally vital, try back pedalling (or walk it first) then burst forwards. You should quickly find your natural stride length / stance as your body adjusts to the change in direction and shift in centre of gravity. Also try a gentle walking start where you kick the ball before you start to accelerate. The first touch might be a little kinder and give you a better line / length.
you should try to jog the average distance of professional football forwards for 45 mins, have "halftime" break, and then attempt running as fast as mbappe.
What’s more impressive is, your sprinting you was pumping the ball 10 yards in front of you every sprint. Mbappe only does this twice in his run. The close control while sprinting at such speed is incredible

Huge fan
Usman Imtiaz same
Carlos Esho ya lol
thanks for the good content chris, im trying to make good stuff too xD
you should try to jog the average distance of professional football forwards for 45 mins, have "halftime" break, and then attempt running as fast as mbappe.
8:46 the cat in the bottom right is so cute.
Be honest, how many people read the title and in their mind said "yeah that's not gonna happen"
Even when mbappe got guys pushing and chasing him under constant pressure he gets that time. Unbelievable
6:19 I had flashbacks to Ollie in the pink Fortnite costume
Thing is in a match like that you would get like an adrenaline rush or something which would help you run quicker
those touches when you were sprinting near the 3:00 mark made me laugh out loud man, so funny. Great video!
I just want to say that whoever's in quarantine, I hope you and your family stays safe and this comment brights up your day👍
Thank u man
Ya cheers
What’s more impressive is, your sprinting you was pumping the ball 10 yards in front of you every sprint. Mbappe only does this twice in his run. The close control while sprinting at such speed is incredible
Also, it's not only the sprint, is sprinting while having absolute control of the ball.
Nice vid, Chris.
Your cat is amazing at goalkeeping
