So, I got my offer letter today for my 2nd 6 figure job. This job is less than my contracting position, BUT it is a full time salary position with full benefits. This job will put my overall yearly income to 246,000 a year. I am super nervous about getting caught, though I don't have any sort of non-compete clause in my contracts. Trying to get it into my mind that we live America, a capitalistic society. Each day it gets easier, but thay fear is still in the back of my mind.
I would call that an old soul's morality. It would be dishonorable to serve two "masters" historically, but it really is one of the last ways for us in the lower and middle classes to get ahead in modern America with the American dream dying and whatnot. You are perfectly fine as long as you are performing well in both roles and not neglecting yourself and family!
You've helped motivate me to take on a second job myself. I plan on investing in low-end commercial real estate as I do this so that I can help set up my family for the next generation :) Thanks for your videos!
About 20 years into my career and I'm at that 6 figure salary point in my current job. I'm now in the process of interviewing for my 2nd 6 figure job. I'm super excited cause this main jobs work load is super super light. The 2nd job will be a senior SE position.

100 years ago there were lots of people working from home. In many developing countries, in rural areas there are no corporate jobs to go to. So everyone works for themselves and thus work from home or round their homes.
I think 80% of people with desk jobs in my company do the same. They do their tasks and fill the rest of the day with online shopping, UA-cam or social media. That's a lot of time
@Jake Ferrin! How did the UA-cam algorithm know to suggest your video? It’s like it knows we played college lacrosse together. It’s so crazy to randomly find your awesome UA-cam channel. Love the videos, man! You definitely earned a new sub. Go cougs!!
would love to know how to get an 'in' with any remote job. over here in Philadelphia. Writer by trade, but willing to do just about anything because of life upheaval. 🙂
@Jake Ferrin what is the law in America regarding that, about having two jobs if you are full time employee? Other countries allow up to 10hours a week extra (only if current employer signs it). Or you have your company and work like that? Or combination? Actually in my country it is "allowed" to be salaried employee and have small company where you dont work (you are not employeed but can work like contractor)
Started a second job 3 months ago. About to quit at least one. Meetings conflicts, performance issues, feeling guilty when u lie to skip a meeting or a call, anxiety of being found out, switching between 2 completely different contexts, ie 2 different languages, 2 different tech stacks, 2 different everything...Etc. Not sure if I can do this for year.
@@ni12907 It is. Saving a deposit for a house. I will be done between 3 to 6 months. Though it will be hard to give the sweet sweet dollar. Maybe I need something part time.
How did you go about updating your LinkedIn when you got that second job? Did you temporarily delete your account or freeze it so both employers wouldn’t question the status of your employment history?
I think I would have to go into this with both companies knowing what's up, which would knock down the stress a ton. I'd want to get an offer somewhere where they knew I wasn't planning to leave my first job, then tell my current manager the plan when I was ready to accept that offer, and have it be somewhere I wouldn't mind working as my only job.
Not the best idea. Don't lie, of course, but nonmention. Still very frowned upon, at least in IT (and I imagine in most other industries). Check out overemployed if you're actually thinking about taking the leap.
It seems odd to go for 2 full time jobs. Why not just have one or two contractual roles? They tend to pay better but on the other hand they are sometimes more difficult usually.
I'm 25 doing a full stack developer bootcamp learning code. Can you give me some advice on what job to get and direction for me. I feel super pressured to get a good job right now and need to make money now.
Man.. getting that first job is always a struggle. My advice is to do anything and everything you can to land the first one. I applied to so many jobs and ended up getting an internship that paid $12 per hour. But that first opportunity allows you to show how good you are then the next one is way easier. Good luck!
@@JakeFerrin Ehh, feeling it right now. Got my first position as a Web developer/App Developer two months ago and now because of not the best boss in the world I am now not working there after just two months sadly. I feel vindicated in what I'm capable of doing and how that has without a doubt open doors for me just having been there for such a short time. But men without a doubt it feels like a bummer.
Hi! I want to ask your opinion how if our two full-time job are in two different time zone? For example first job is start on 9am to 5pm and the second job is start on 3pm to 11pm? How to manage that 😅

During the pandemic businesses complained that it was unconstitutional for the government to shut them down. Yet here the same businesses are firing people for choosing to work two jobs. Isn’t that unconstitutional or at least discriminatory. I guess free enterprise and capitalism only works for some but not all.
Thank you I only 16 yr and next week I getting my diploma so finally can start working remotely and get ahead financially thanks you so much your helping people reach there dreams/goals < love/light💙
So I tried to reach out... No about us, No business email, No twitter link, No nothing.... Therefore, I guess the comments are all that is left, how can we touch base on a professional level?
