  • I explain a little update on the bucking situation on my MK7 GTI. I don’t really know if it is completely fixed, but what I explain in this video might be a possible solution.

Jace! I appreciate you discussing this topic as I’ve had this problem for over 2 years now. For me it’s not tune related at all. My bucking started after a trans swap btw so that’s how I know it’s not tune related for me at least, something to do with the work done during the trans swap if not the swapped trans itself. The only thing that worked to fix bucking for me by 95% was pumping the clutch pedal rapidly 100 times in a row. A “poor man’s clutch bleed”. I also did a real clutch bleed but suspect the rapid clutch pedal trick is what made the most difference for me, idk why. And I mean rapidly, like very fast. And actually like 100 times.
Now even in the hot weather, where the bucking was the worst, I have very minimal bucking. Some, but the car is now drivable. I know you mentioned the impact of weather on a previous video so wanted to include that detail.
What a terrible headache problem, sorry to all those experiencing it. I have posts all over the forums about it, this is the one of few videos on the topic so I wanted to chime in. I’ll be honest, I thought I was never going to solve the bucking issue, but somehow after 2 years I stumbled on a little trick that was very effective.
    Please give this a shot.

Hmmm, that’s very interesting. Why did you need a trans swap? Was there anything done to the trans you swapped in? What kind of clutch are you running? Pumping the clutch 100+ times is crazy lol. There has to be something more serious wrong with your trans/clutch if you have to do that.
Weird. So in hot weather, after you pump the clutch 100+ times, it bucks less?
I believe I’m the only one making videos regarding this issue. Tbh, if you have to resort to pumping your clutch 100+ times, then I would say your bucking issues hasn’t been solved yet. But at least it’s a remedy in the meantime.

I agree, it’s so interesting, I have done so many things like you like upgraded my engine trans and dogbone mounts, tried throttle body resets. Nothing worked as a permanent fix. I definitely learned more about cars than I originally planned, hey, that’s cool I’ll take it.
Everything you described in your first video about the bucking was spot on, exactly the same issue I was experiencing, down to ever details. I was listening to you describe it while eating dinner and was like, “holy shit someone else on planet earth has this issue too!”
Pumping the clutch 100 times really fast was just a one time thing. I don’t pump the clutch on a daily basis. And the effects have lasted. Again I am really shocked about this to be quite honest.
You may be right in that there may be still an underlying problem. Others on forums have helped brainstorm on this, with ideas like the trans input shaft having issues or TOB gone bad causing clutch to get stuck etc, but it’s a bit of a money pit right now so I can’t pursue those things as I’m not able to take down my trans myself and I’d rather keep the shop away from my car before they cause another problem and charge me for it 😂😂😂
Clutch is Southbend stage 3 daily. My tune is EQT stage 2. And, The trans was swapped because I blew the synchro on 4th gear when driving with the pop tune still on, learned my lesson to not drive with the pops on ever again. The trans swapped in was used but with fewer miles than my car.
It’s been 70-95F degrees around here. Very minimal bucking. Unbelievable the improvement I’ve achieved by doing this simple trick.

hmmm. I'm stock no tune dealing with the bucking. But will be sending my vin to tuners to double check if my car was ever tuned. Bought the car used about 3 months ago so it can be a possibility.

Completely stock, besides intake and turbo-inlet pipe. Bucking, but less with the N80 unplugged.

Good to hear. Thanks for your feedback. It’s so weird how the N80 valve unplugged “fixes” it.

Does it stop when flashing back to stock. I’m RacingLine stage 2 with mild bucking at low throttle input, flashed stock and stage 1 no bucking. I have a suspension it has something to do with secondary air when on stage 2

@cryptotattooer2883 no. I’ve tried this and it still bucked. I’ve also removed my secondary air injection and have a block off plate. The car bucked before I did this, and bucks after too.
