Crazy how much work is hidden behind fog and darkness.
😂😂
6:59 this is my favorite transition of all time, when I saw this in the theater my jaw was on the floor.
still the best transition ever, unless were talking breaking bad
I committed treason by watching this movie on my phone
Surely, this movie has sound, cinematography, and vfx oscars in the bag...
Best scifi movie of the past few years. I had goose bumps watching these breathtaking scenes while hearing hans zimmer magic.
Hamid VFX and this was a flop
@@debasishsoren5347 And who cares?
Absolute goosebumps indeed
@@ashwin4224 Yeah .
@@debasishsoren5347 the story of this series was really not for normies who are in to stereo type love stories, so it's for people who are really into cyberpunk.
Some of the best visual effects I've ever seen, period. They'd still be next-level if this film came out in 2024, nevermind that this is now around 7 years old. Absolutely unreal.
Incredible film. Wish I could watch it again in theatres
This movie looked absolutely astounding... Hats off
I hate hate hate going to the cinema, but I saw this film twice because it just has to be seen on a large scale, it's a masterpiece!
just curious, why do you intensely hate going to the cinema?
@@shaheenyes Many reasons, but mainly people have no manners, they arrive late, check their phones, talk, laugh at inappropriate moments, make constant noise with their food, etc etc. Infact every time I watch this film, there is one scene that reminds me of a dumbfuck who would talk to himself at crucial moments. I would prefer not to have those memories when watching films.
Really impressive work. The body morphing is incredible, plus everything else. It must be tough when the lights go out.
my head hurt at the double-body scene. Great work!
I'm amazed how relatively low-poly all the background buildings are. Textures really are everything.
DNEG is the same VFX house who did Black Panther's atrocious VFX. Remember most of the time its the studios' fault giving these artists not enough time.
Did you mean the final fight? That was Method Studios tho.
@@mylopintorizvi4642 exacly like several ppl think that all studios did the Thanos cgi but that was only digital domain who created Thanos
@@adrianstjarnfaldt395 Digital Domain and Weta Digital.
@@qnebra mainly weta digital tracking suit and custom tracking software
@@joysonbaretto3690 Both Weta and DD did scenes with Thanos.
My friends working in senior VFX artist department in dneg and worked on blade runner 2049 itself 😀❤️
I'm obsessed with this creation of film
4:56 were those parts really animations !! ? how realistic it can be, mind-blowing
*Masterpiece.*
the sound rumbles through your guts, love it!
I love every second of this movie
DNEG. This is why we love movies.
where Ana de Armas ever on set, so many scenes are cgi based? :D Definitely a well-deserved Oscar for vfx
DNEG did VFX work in BRAHMASTRA.... OSCAR WORTHY 🙌
Really ?
It looks like soap opera graphics
@@solok4150 oh really?. did you see the real jets flying so closely?
great video. spectacular work of art this film. one of my favorites. cheers.
Amazing VFX Double Negative again, but I have a question, did you work the VFX at the Arri camera 4:3 aspect ratio or The Imax 1.90:1 aspect ratio? I need to know if there is an Open mate version at ~4:3 Even taller than 1.90:1?.
I should have watched this in theater 🎥.
The unsung heroes... respect 👍🏼😊
Whoa, the way you did the scene in the appartment !! :O
Just amazing!
Best VFX clip we will ever see on a Movie
SPOT ON WHAT I NEED TO LEARN .......THANK YOU
Phenomenal played loud... oh my.
Well done guys ! Massive respect on the CG humans.
So was the CG Joi just used in the transition scenes, or was that actually a model of her used through the entire scene ( at 2:10 , is that a model ? If so, you absolutely fooled me . )
Also, as others have wondered as well, why not just lower the opacity and blend the two actors together, rather than use CG ?
Massive respect !
Found the answer to that last question ! :www.fxguide.com/featured/the-techniques-used-in-the-blade-runner-2049-hologram-sex-scene/
Thanks. The main reason is to have volume. So every shot was actually filmed for real, but it also had to be animated to match the actress to generate the back of her and give the sense of volume. It is subtle in most shots but it was a lot of work and also tricky to get right. It was a team effort from multiple departments too. Glad you liked it :)
Excellent.
Incredible work.
Awesome!!
I loved this scene.
hanz zimmer was like movie score? i got you fam. records a bike revving its engine, adds some juicy FX. boom
Unveiling the visual marvels behind Blade Runner 2049! 🌟🎥
The work of nuke damn
This films was everything I wanted and then some.
I would absolutely watch this movie without any dialogue at all
Denis has a seperate perspective of showing vfx in a big scale
when will you see more vfx breakdowns videos of your old films? i really want to see your work!
this video's opening shot of an overcast 2049 LA is just breathtaking when you look closely.. the wallace towers dominate the massive skyline. didn't notice that on my first 5 viewings of the film
B F yeah they seem very small in that shot so I have doubts if it is the HQ shown in the movie.
Hurry Calls i think it is. That shot is the entire skyline from a long distance and from quite high up it seems. So the buildings seem miniature
B F it seems way too small considering it was so large it went into the clouds.
Hurry Calls you can even see the Tyrell buildings right beside it if you look closely. Just different cloud conditions in both scenes
B F huh, fair enough.
😍
that was fake fog, i see you, depth pass eh. HUGE respects to the all the crew. wish i could see it in theateres
1:39 i want to know what type of animation name is that in sony yei please tell me 🙏🙏
may be one of the first film with hyperrealistic meta humans, but i m not sure metahumans were from mpc or dneg was from
Yup i am a fresher VFX artist 🗿
How could I remake the scene at the bridge with the hologram?
2:07 I don't understand what is the FX here, this breakdown edit is quite strange IMHO. Awesome work on the movie
I guess is the light passing through her, they filmed it empty and then simulated it in the 3d model, then composite it above the footage with her.
1:15 those cities at the back...did that really have to be there hahaha
I still don’t get how they made the joi scenes
British vfx as its finest
Better than the movie itself. Keep posting!
Holy fuck.
what?? the chick is cgi!?
Is this company making vfx for indian movie robot 2.o
Prashant Kumar yes
5:13
Collab bro ?
Anyone know what the church-like building in the background at @5:34 is?
Wait a minute, what the fuck? Joi is CG?
No, actress is real (Ana de Armas), the CGI composition is to mix the two bodies and faces, Joi's and the blonde girl.
I liked the film, but it wasnt as good as the original imo. It was its own film, and very different form the original, granted its not the same period in time. it got a ton of acclaim for its visuals but even their i think it could've been far better. I know CGI can be great, but here they lost alot of what made the original spark. Tonally this also didnt feel nor look like LA. it looked like Canada. Dennis homeland. it looked European. even much of the extra actors looked European. what happened to the Asian influence of the original? the greatest achievement in this was cg Rachel. she was bang on, though i also thing the body double cast could've been better. the actress was no where near as petit and slender as Sean Young in her 20's. still it was an amazing achievement. again l liked the film, but it was its own thing, not the truest blade runner sequel i wouldve longed for.
La verdad que no me gusta mucho la pena de muerte
This is cgi done right
Hi, chek out our brazilian cyberpunk film called "Gambiarra: o HD de Espadas/Gambiarra: The Hard Drive of Spades". Full movie with subtitles on our channel.
This music is just terrible compared to the subtle synths of the master that is Vangelis. Why didn't they just go to Vangelis for the score?!?
Nah
He's dead.
Just like the movie, this ran too long.
Hardly a 'breakdown', just a few with some detail and the rest are finished products. Not worth watching
Really
Yea my PlayStation 5 can run those graphics
Haha.
