    Thanks for this! I've been watching this at work, whilst listening to a 1991 playlist. Love all your videos 🙂👍🏻

    I was born in Cooks Hill 1943. Boy oh boy have I seen lots of changes. Your video reminded me of later changes. My 10 year old son and I were at Tower Cinema when the earthquake happened. He complained all the way home because the movie couldn't be shown !

    4:54 The 2-storey house with the white picket fence is the Porter house, known to be haunted by the ghosts of the Porter Sisters.

    This video was taken 3 years before arrived in Newcastle in 1994 and spent the rest of the 1990's up till 2000's in Newie. Great memories. How cheap was the fuel back then !😄💯💢💥

    Considering its 31+ years ago, not that much has changed. Newcastle CBD has changed quite a bit though and that happened mostly from 2010 onwards.

    Having lived in Newcastle my entire life this was quite an interesting video. Notable things which stood out for me which have changed / no longer there: 68c/L petrol, Dairy Farmers corner, Sizzlers, Castle nightclub, Casbah nightclub, JR nightclub, Newcastle Workers being rebuilt after the '89 earthquake, Tower Cinemas and of course the 90s era cars on the road. Thanks for posting

      Yes, 69c fuel was great. And the Sizzler - I don’t remember it being there.
      We lived in Ashtonfield during the 89 quake and happened to be in Warwick during the actual quake.

    6:08 What was once the Martin DeLaunay Electronics Warehouse is here shown as the CES(Commonwealth Employment Service(before Centrelink). Eventually it became home to Finnegan's Irish Pub!

    Can we see more of that video at the end, with the Michael Jackson memorabilia? So cool seeing everyday life back then and pop culture!

      That was a video of my bedroom in 1991. I was 19 years old. I'd have to find it to upload it. That video also features my parent's entire house from back then. The Michael Jackson memorabilia you see at the end of this video is only a very small part of my collection.

      It's definitely 1991. We drive past the empty space where the Newcastle Workers Club was being rebuilt after the 1989 earthquake.

      Definitely 1991, likely early June if you note the movie posters at ~ 6:50 the Australian release dates were;
      The Silence of the Lambs - 9 May 1991
      Mermaids - 16 May 1991
      The Doors - 30 May 1991

    68.9 Cents per Litre for petrol in 1991! *WOW!* Look at what we're paying now! Obscene, ain't it?
