Nice work, Neil. But please put a respirator on when grinding that rust crap. Ps please check eBay for message about drivers mirror for new spider project
That colour! That colour! Such a beautiful shade of red! Manufacturers don’t do any other colour than white, black, grey and silver nowadays, such a shame!!
Hey, thanks for this video of your welding repairs. I've got the same job to do on a 156 sportwagon. As a competent amateur I don't get the benefit training to fall back on, and I've had do some emergency over-plating on a small Fiat, to boot. Trying to do a proper job on the 156, I feel reassured. I think I going in the right direction, now!
The silicon seal is such a crazy insane thing to do. How can water not get trapped in there? Also, any chance that two people did the work? The one external plate looks ugly, but it's at least there.
Thanks for another interesting & informative video. Floor & underside rot must be an Italian car issue generally. Looking on the DVLA web site I see my 19 year old 1.2 Punto that I sold over a year ago & owned from new has failed its MOT due to structural issues including seat belt anchorage points & suspension turrets. Strange as the bodywork was immaculate when I sold it with no MOT advisories. Sadly I can see the old girl getting scrapped as being too uneconomical to repair. I assume these issues are due to poor quality steel & protection when new.
Just had the floor on my 2002 147 welded, the floor looks exactly the same design as this, I never knew that. The seats are the same too except mine are red.
@@ItaliaAutos makes sense, it's funny I've had two early 147's and one the synchro died, this one crank sensor died plus I think cat has collapsed and on the other hand Figaro my rare 2007 Sport TS had 134k miles on and previous owner had never even serviced it etc and it was indestructible...
Seems like typical MOT welding work at any old garage. Just had to do a load of welding on my car and the worst part of all of it was fixing the bodges. Everywhere that had been welded for an MOT was just plate over rust, the rear of the arch had a good 30cm of old rusty panel behind it, it only takes a minute to roughly cut out so why they do that I have no idea...
Hi Niel - great content as usual - would any of your fans happen to know if you can retro fit a Alfa 159 satnav to replace a factory cd/radio ? As the connections are different - wonder if there’s a kit available
That slightly overlapped area gonna lasts for some years, but the spot welded side remained rusty between the panels. What is that primer coat what you use, some bitumen based paint?
Hi, I have a question little bit out of subject of video. Can you tell me what torque setting for installing glow plugs to be used on 2003 156 2.4 JTD engine 110kw. Thanks
Hello Neil. I had water penetration, in the same location in my Fiat Coupe. Is the pollen filter just above the passenger footwell?. In the coupe, torrential downpours overwhelm the scuttle outlet. It floods over through the filter opening.
I dont know if you will see this message, but If u do,can u help me to fix my problem?I ve got an Alfa romeo 145 the 1.6 boxer engine,I have her since june, and two days ago,i was driving and my gear stopped working,I can put in gear, but the clutch pedal don’t make the connection from gear to engine,Nobody could help me,one person who I know and had an alfa romeo said that it s the most probably the slave cylinder from the pedal,Can u give me an advice or make a video about it? :(
Such a shame Alfa had still not sorted out their corrosion protection by the early 2000's. I have an 18 year old Audi TT. The underside of the shell has zero rust, not even surface rust, and it's all original. I've found the best corrosion resistant paint is two part EM121 epoxy from www.rust.co.uk/ This stuff is very tough and does not flake, better than any zinc primer in my experience. Good to see another Alfa saved!
that car can be 25 years old, depending of the model year, If Alfa would "sort" everything people want, their cars would cost double. Audi TT is 5 year newer desing.
Great job
Thorough job as usual Neil! Another Alfa being saved!
Thanks again!

Спасибо за спасение этой 145! / Thank you for rescue 145!
Just watched this again. TESA loom tape on that wiring loom inside the car would be ideal.

it is rare

Nice video and a great job! 👍❤
Great job. I´ve just got one 145, i will do some engine prep, i´m trying to find some sugestions. Greetings from Brasil
Enjoy. New video out on it today.
use a gearbox stand on the subframe and move post out of the way to cut out and weld the floor
thats what i ended up doing but the car was still supported by the ramp arms.

similar but not the same.

Id love the plate..

bitumen paint just makes it rust under it. i dont use that. omnicote then acid etch and then stone chip

What's the rust proofing paint you're using? Need to clean up the underside of my 147 and try and stop the rot!
Thinkni said in the video. Omnicoat
Use on me 147 Hamerite underside and inside floor pan 💪👍 good luck

In the coupe, torrential downpours overwhelm the scuttle outlet. It floods over through the filter opening.
yeah im going to be checking the scuttle panel as theres a plastic cover that could be missing or in the wrong place.
With the coupe, I believe that there is no cover to the pollen filter tray. There is a v shaped strap or band over, to keep the filter in place.
@@Thecarman1994 good job this is a 145 then lol
Hiiii, where can I find that zender kit?? :(
Hi Neil, did you have a look at the two alfas I posted on your last video ?
i did thanks
Amazing how much effort people will take to do the wrong thing eh, extra ten mins to have cut the rot out in first place!
yeah its annoying.

All gone due to ..rust
Surely just scrap it
why scrap i earn a living from saving them.
Why bother ?
Gas Man ‘cause we love owning, repairing and driving older cars - I’ve got 10 of these old fiats, Alfas and Lancias and I love them
