I think this is one of the best videos on keeping edges straight. The ideal process is to be consistent. I like when you said “the first stitch-the turning stitch- means nothing to you and to go into that first stitch. I had an aha moment. Thank you.
you probably dont give a damn but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost my password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Odin Darian i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Crystal... I have been crocheting for 60 yrs and have always struggled with this. I am making my first crocheted sweater and have been tearing my hair out. And then I watch your video and you solved my biggest problem. I've now worked 3 rows and I'll never go back to the old way. Thank you from the bottom of my craft bag.
This is pure genius. I have been doing needlework for most of my 68 years, have tons of needlework books and I have never seen this great tip.THANK YOU MUCH !!!
You know Crystal, you don't give yourself enough credit. You Are an expert. I am self taught from when I was a kid and my mom didn't have enough patience to teach me. I hold my yam totally different than other crocheters; I hold it around my thumb and under my last 3 fingers. I've tried to change but can't seem to get the hang of it so I live with it. But, you have given me the confidence to do real projects. I made 4 mermaid tails for my granddaughters (age from 4 to 13) for Christmas this year. They weren't perfect but my sense of accomplishment was awesome! You had alot to do with that. No, I didn't learn how to make mermaid tails from you, but watching your videos has taught me so much. It's crazy, I would never have undertaken that task without your calm, soothing voice and your easy to follow videos. I know this is long but I just wanted you to know. Plus I want to say thank you so much! ♥️
I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS! I WAS FEELING BAD BECAUSE I JUST LEFT CRYSTAL A LONG POST ALSO & I AGREE WITH YOU 💯 PERCENT! SHE IS THE BEST 💝!!! I HAD LEARNED THE BASIC STITCHES IN 5TH GRADE. NOW I'M 61, DISABLED AFTER A BACK INJURY & FAILED SURGERY & I WENT FROM SUPER ACTIVE TO NOTHING BUT DEPRESSED & I WAS GOING NUTS!!!. MY HUSBAND GOT VERY SICK, HAD 2 HEART SURGERIES LAST YEAR & HE WAS ALWAYS COLD. WE COULD NOT FIND A BEANIE THAT WOULD STAY ON HIS HEAD SO I MADE HIM 2 & THEY STAY ON HIS HEAD & HE LOVES THEM 😊! THEN I COULDN'T STOP CROCHETING BEANIES FOR EVERYONE, LOL 😂! SO THAT WAS THE START TO MY LOVE OF CROCHETING & THE GREATEST THERAPY FOR ME 🙏✝💝! BUT I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SOME OF MY CROCHETING SO I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT THE LORD LED ME TO CRYSTAL'S UA-cam TUTORIAL'S & I OR MY HUSBAND CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MUCH I HAVE LEARNED FROM HER IN THE LAST 2-3 WEEK'S. I TOOK A BREAK FROM CROCHETING TO GO TO "CRYSTAL'S SCHOOL OF CROCHETING" 😊💝! HONESTLY, THAT'S ALL I HAVE DONE IS WATCH HER HANDS & EVERY STITCH SHE MAKES & I LISTEN TO HER CALMING VOICE & SHE IS AMAZING! GOD DEFINITELY BLESSED HER WITH AN AWESOME TALENT & I LOVE HER ARTWORK 💝!!! I CAN TELL HER HEART IS INTO EVERYTHING SHE CREATES & I AM LIKE YOU, I JUST CAN'T THANK HER ENOUGH 😊💝!!! I'M PRAYING THAT OUR HEARTFELT STORY'S WILL HELP HER REALIZE WHAT A TRUE GIFT SHE IS TO ALL OF US 🙏✝💝! GOD BLESS & HAVE A GREAT EVENING & AN EVEN BETTER TOMORROW 🙏✝💝!
hi Vicki, I am getting ready to start a mermaid tale for my 6 yr old granddaughter for Christmas gift. i have a pattern from Michaels, com but it is adukt size. where did you get your child sized pattern?
Crystal, you are too cute and very humble, I have to agree with some of the comments, YOU ARE AN EXPERT in my book!!! Thanks again for everything you do, and your family too for their support of you!!! And your tip is extremely helpful......
Hot Dang Girl, you’re a good teacher. You really are making an impact on me, a bright green beginner. You’re not a professional, but you are HRH the Queen of Crochet! Thank you so much!
Thank you very very much for your video. If people are getting mad about your tips, then they are ignorant. Your video helped me big time in making my blanket with great edges. Keep giving us tips, because I truly appreciate them. :-)
Yes. I have been sharing this video with people every time they have issues with their rows. I've been crocheting for 50 years and never tried this. I am grateful that you shared it. I've been doing it ever since I saw it the first time. Works way better and looks much nicer. Thank you for your professional tip.
Crystal, you are such a blessing! You are an expert! You are VERY loved by many, including me. ☺️ You wouldn’t have the almost 300,000 subscribers if you weren’t a very special woman. Love your family, the support they give you, especially your husband, that’s such a blessing!! I suffer from chronic migraines and I watch you making something and it helps take my mind off the pain (that and meds 😉☺️) I have 8 grandsons, and we just had our first grand daughter 3 weeks ago. Can’t wait to make the navy/white sailor dress, I love that one!. You helped me get through the holidays with your Christmas give away videos. I was so happy to see “the time/length of video” when it was an hour or more. I was like YES! I loved them, more of you, your family and the bunny and puppies!! If you weren’t loved, you wouldn’t have gotten all the kind words of encouragement, love, gifts for you and your family. I believe the Lord put you in my path for a reason. I’ve been a subscriber for a while, but I normally don’t comment. I struggle with “writing”. I am thankful for you and your family, for you being you, and sharing your talent with the world. Love y’all, Gods blessings!
I watched 5 videos on this problem. This was the first one that made sense and really helped me understand how to fix what I was doing! Thank you so much!
Absolutely love Crystal she is so easy to understand . I follow her and would love to see her do a full tutorial on the virus blanket . Most just show a little I love to see full tutorials. She's my favorite!!
Hi Crystal, I have been watching your videos for some time now. You are awesome, you take time to show and explain everything , no guessvwork from your tutorials. I have dreaded making anything where you have to keep the edges straight until I saw your tutorial. It is so simple the way you explain it. THANK YOU SO MUCH !
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for these tips!!! I was taught to crochet by my aunt & my 4th grade teacher & that was 35 to 37 years ago and I think they must have both taught me the traditional way because getting my edges straight has always been a struggle. UNTIL NOW! Plus I'm a visual learner, so actually SEEING how you did it, on top of the fact that you explained it perfectly, helped SO MUCH! 😊😊😊
Crystal!!! This is the best tip everrrrrrrrr!!!! You are the best tutorial teacher thus far on showing how to keep those pesky edges straight!! You're a crafty stitch saver!! Thanks for sharing!!😊
Hallelujah !!! I can stop only doing circle projects. honest. I gave up on straight edges altogether a while back. now I dont care what the “rules” say. I will do what I know works.
I’ve only really been crocheting for about four years thank you for your tip I love it first time I saw you I loved you so I watch you as often as I can and you really have improved my crocheting thank you so much

Thank u Crystal. Ur video made more sense than any of the others I've watched. I'm self taught . And I've learned so much from u ladies. I love crocheting. It's so relaxing. All my projects may not turn out perfect. But, i tell my family it adds character, lol. I agree with the other ladies ur too humble. Bc u r great. Thanks for this particularly one bc l do have this problem. Now I'm old school. U CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Lol. Thanks again and God. Bless ur talent. Lily Baker from Tx.
So simple Crystal! And it's the same for single and double! I am teaching grandkids and they are asking me for advice so I have been watching a heap of tutorials to have it straight in my mind....your tutorial is wonderful! Most appreciated ....you are sharing your expertise!
Crystal, THANK YOU!!!!! I am so glad you explained this to us. I'm embarrassed to say how many afghans I have abandoned because my count got so off! I get to the end of a row and break out into hives because I don't know where the end is for certain. You are a jewel!
Thank you so much. I've watched video after video and you are the one who finally helped my brain and fingers!! I finally "get it". You are a HUGE blessing and are much appreciated. Life will now be far less frustrating.
I just watched this video and I'm 100% agree with Vicki Koch you keep saying in this video and many others that you are not an expert...but you ARE Crystal. The experience the technique the time the love and passion that you have for this beautiful art and the patience to teach and share your tips all that and more are making you a great teacher and expert . If people don't like your tips or know "better" and get mad at you ..knows why or what reason , then is their problem is a lot of ignorance out there. But you give yourself the credit that you have . So to me (and I am a advance "crocheter" 😆) you are Crystal the crochet expert !!! 😘 I'm still watching your channel because you are one of the 2 best teachers that I have since I re started with crochet years ago. And I said have because I'm still learning from you. That important you are in this world 💕🙏🏻
No, it can't be?! Finally after looking this up forever IT WORKS! You rock. I'm forever greatful not only straight sides but no gaps. Who knew, obviously YOU! Much thanks
That’s exactly why I miss it and yes, you’re an expert to me. Thank you and now I’ll always know how to fix my rows. I miss stitches every now and then. Love your tutorials. 💗
I am so grateful to you for sharing your talent Crystal, I was just telling my daughter that I get so frustrated I get because I always wind up with those gaps, again thank you so much🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶
Thank you for showing us your tip on how to keep the edges straight while crocheting. That will help out a lot when making a scarf . When I make a basic scarf as it gets longer some how my edges aren't straight. And I cant figure out why. I would follow the video like it would say and it would end up not being straight. So I would replay the video a few times so I would make sure I didn't miss anything. And it would still not come out straight. I will have to try that tip when making a scarf again. Thank you again for showing us.:)
I’m a beginner and got confused at all the different ways we are told to crochet. Finally realized there is no right and wrong way! As long* as you are consistent. Your way is brilliant! Thank you for that tip as it is now MY way!
This video saved my life!! I've been watching through so many videos about keeping straight edges, but this is the only one that has worked for me. I'm still super new at this so I'm excited to finally have a swatch that isn't janky as heck!
What a great idea. Thank you so much for sharing this....and as for people getting angry...that’s their problem...imagine if you had been a little apprehensive and didn’t do this video...I would not have straight edges now. I think people should look at the video...not like it and move along...if you do like it...try it!!! Why the bad comments???? I’ll never get it. I have gone to a tutorial and tried it and said...”well that’s not for me” so I leave the site and find another one. What is wrong with some people. You are great at this teaching...I’m hoping you will do this forever. Thanks, Linda 😊
Thank you! I’ve read several tips, and yours makes sense to me....finally, something simple and elegant to solve an aggravating problem. I really appreciate your help.
Wow! Such a great method! I’ve not crochet as much as others, but enjoy the craft and have found the edge problem to be frustrating! This will certainly fix that issue. Thanks bunches!
I LOVE this! I am SO going to use this on my next project! Thank you so much for all of your tips and tutorials. You have such a wonderful personality for this - not to mention the great content, lighting, camera position -- well -- everything! I don't understand why anyone would get mad about you trying to help someone. That makes no sense to me. Keep up the good work - there are plenty of us that appreciate it!
Omg!! Thank you so much , I dreaded the start and ending of the row !! Always had wonky rows!!! I haven't tried it yet but if I get it right I will be sooo happy !!! And finally get a blanket that is square!!! Xx
Thanx, Crystal! This was very helpful to me as I tend to do crooked borders without knowing and is very frustrating! I will give this a try next time - sounds logical to me!👍
Hi Crystal, I have watched several videos on this topic, and I just want you to know that this truly helped me and that you're style of teaching is wonderful! I always feel like I'm right there with you. :)
Very helpful and very simple! I just watched another video on chainless starting stitches, and it involves all this extra stuff that just seems clumsy and hard. You have given us a common sense approach that's simple as well. Can't thank you enough for sharing it. You're a terrific mentor and teacher!
Thank you Crystal. You ARE an expert. I looked at a lot of videos today about straight edges because I am working with Mega Bulky yarn and my edges were not straight, only your instructions helped me get the edges straight. When I saw your video, all I could think was "now I will get this right since Crystal is demonstrating how to do it!" Thank you a million times over since this is my first time working with this type of yarn. You are awesome!
I've been struggling with turning chains since I began crocheting many moons ago. You're is, without doubt, the best. And it is so easy! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you so much!! I just started crocheting last year and when I do my own "freestyle" projects, I always have crazy edges. I couldn't understand it and now, this tip has helped me see why. Thank you again!
Thank you Crystal. You are more of an expert then you think you are. Have confidence in yourself. As with any advice we can take it or leave it. I choose to take it. Makes perfect sense to me. 😍
Wow, Thank You !!!! I have had this problem for ages and never knew how to correct it. I've just done a few rows where I need 29 sts on each row and by following your tip, guess what, I have 29sts on each row. Ma'am I give you a deep curtsy, a massive hug and spin around while jumping up and down. That's how pleased I am. Thank You again.
I think this is one of the best videos on keeping edges straight. The ideal process is to be consistent. I like when you said “the first stitch-the turning stitch- means nothing to you and to go into that first stitch. I had an aha moment. Thank you.
Finally... straight edges!!!! Thank you so much 👍now I can move on !!!!
Hi Crystal, pls bring on the tips, that's how most people learn, I certainly appreciate them all. Thanks for sharing 😘

Omg!! Thank you so much , I dreaded the start and ending of the row !! Always had wonky rows!!! I haven't tried it yet but if I get it right I will be sooo happy !!! And finally get a blanket that is square!!! Xx
Crystal, your technique just helped with a project that was driving me CRAZY!!! Thank you SO much 😀
Wow much easier than the one I just watched. I love it. Thank you 😊 so much.

Excellent explanation! Thank you for soving my crooked edge problem!
This is so much better and easier then any other tutorial on this issue! Thanks
I've been struggling with turning chains since I began crocheting many moons ago. You're is, without doubt, the best. And it is so easy! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
If you want to pass your knowledge on you do it. Especially in people ask you. A great tip. Thanks.
Wowweeee soooo simple compared to most other tutorials! Thanks Ms Crystal!!
Crystal, Thank you for this AWESOME tip!😊💝
Wow, Thank You !!!! I have had this problem for ages and never knew how to correct it. I've just done a few rows where I need 29 sts on each row and by following your tip, guess what, I have 29sts on each row. Ma'am I give you a deep curtsy, a massive hug and spin around while jumping up and down. That's how pleased I am. Thank You again.
Thanks for showing and explaining it. It work every time 👍
Watching in 2020 and these tips are still relevant! Thanks Crystal ... you always help people!
