It never ends man. Can’t just be happy with what I got. 306.1ci engine using an Edelbrock Performer 750-cfm square-bore carb, a 3-inch spacer-plate, and both Performer RPM dual-plane and Victor Jr. single-plane intake manifolds. the spacer helps the top-end numbers on this package with no sacrifice downstairs-getting it to fit under the hood Running only a 1-inch spacer will cost you about 5 hp on top.
    The engine runs best with 41 degrees of advance; varying the total timing more than 2 degrees either way costs 5-10 hp. Seemingly, that's a lot of timing for a small-displacement, small-chamber engine running on pump gas, but other engine builders report similar advance requirements with Isky Megacams. With the Performer RPM, the engine made 369.1 lb-ft peak torque at 4,500 rpm and 387.5 hp at 6,250. The Victor Jr. shifted the curves higher, making 370.1 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm and 401.5 hp at 6,500. Both combinations made over 1 hp/ci from 4,500 through 6,750 rpm and over 300 lb-ft of torque from 3,000 through 6,500.

    I was hoping 320hp range but figured 285-300. How do you tune the stock computer? Did you have to buy aftermarket computer that replaces the stock or how does that work? I haven’t built a radical motor yet (next motor) 😉. I have always just matched my MAS with same calibrated in lbs injectors. Now my motors have been stock with bolt on’s so far. 😉

    • @GearHead704
      @GearHead704  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks Rick, more would be nice, but it's in a good spot for me right now. I actually use the stock computer, but an SCT chip is programmed and gets added to it. If you aren't going to get a tune then it seems calibrated injectors and Mass are the way to go.

      Disclaimer -> This is all my best guess.
      It depends on so many things like weight of car, 60 foot time, driver mode, tires, etc. In a convertible probably mid 8's at best in the 1/8 mile and in a coupe low 8's. 1/4 mile I'm guessing high 12's for the vert and maybe low 12's possibly squeezing a high 11 in a coupe with the right tire, pulling extra weight, etc. I recommend you check out 50tussin if you haven't.
