I just found your channel and as an animal lover I am hooked. BUT cats are what hooked me and the love and care you take of them. I also call them "The Assassins", believe me they earn their title. Being city cats they are heavy on the lizard kills. I never thought about a competition between the 9 of them though, that might be fun. Enjoyed the video. peace
That is an awesome T-shirt. The third eye in the center of her forehead may explain how Molly always spots the rodents no matter how they hide. Extra points for getting the weasel; they’re neat animals but they are determined poultry killers.

So can your hoop coop issue be resolved by improving the grading on the sides? Sounds like a question for My Buddy Alfred. Hope you do a barn build video at some point.
My parents used to have a barn cat, no farm but we lived in an older house on a ranch down in Texas. He was some kind of maine coon mix, not a huge cat but bigger than average. He was an outside only cat until one day he was bitten by a rattle snake. It was terrible to watch him go through it but somehow with vet care he bounced back, 2 weeks later there was a dead rattlesnake on our doorstep. And that's how our old cat Baby earned his place as an indoor outdoor cat, coming and going as he pleased. I have no idea how he managed to kill it, that was an outlier though. Most of the time he took care of mice, rats and unfortunately the occasional rabbit. I say unfortunate but it was pretty fortunate for my mother's garden.
My cat got hit with one years ago. He went missing for a few days, i was devastated then he showed up at home and his entire left side was swollen and filled with infection. Took him to the vet, didn't think he was gonna make it, but he did. Let me tell you when that infection was draining.....ooee. had that cat for 18 yrs. Congratulations to Molly Murder Mittens! Those are impressive numbers, especially the weasel. Weasels are ferocious fighters. I saw one of my cats try to kill one. The cat didn’t give up easily, but the weasel won that battle. Molly must be an especially good hunter. She certainly lives up to her name!
Cats are sometimes too tenacious. My last kitty would savagely attack every skunk in sight (only to get sprayed three times, ha ha). Also he attacked a fox and the fox, to its credit, didn't hurt her too bad. He only nipped his ear and bolted. That fox was actually super nice, he lived in our neighborhood for years and no one ever lost a kitty.
Hahaha, I always thought Barn Cat of the Year was just a joke we'd hear during passing. Now today I find out it's actually a thing, with actual calculations and prizes.
"I'm not a cat person." When I hear that I always think you mean "I'm an animal lover and don't have a favorite". You honestly show just the same amount of love to the dogs, barn cats, cattle, and even the birds. Most cat people I know favor cats over other animals especially dogs, so I can I see why you'd say you're not a cat person.
Congratulations Molly. Morgan, I have to admit that at my age (67) you said something that totally threw me for a loop. I had to go to my best friend Google to find out what the heck was a vole. Yep you heard that correctly. Lol. Hello to Alison & hope she's doing good. Take care
Aww, Molly Murder Mittens is always my favourite! Not going to lie, the barn cats are my favourite part of the channel. Not so sue Ginni is purring because she loves the collar so much, rather its because she loves YOU so much! 🐱🐱🐱
I don't know if this is something that's worthwhile, but can you put a tracking collar on your cats to see if they have specific zones? There's a wolf project in northern Minnesota and they tracked all these different wolf packs. And it was amazing how they stuck to their territory. Would be an interesting thought.
Theres a British documentary out there called “the secret life of house cats” or something like that that did that and it was pretty interesting to see where they go when we’re not around

Hilarious about Alison disliking Molly because she fights with Pablo! Also, I very much understand about one's heart growing to accomidate more cats, not split into smaller pieces.
Morgan, to improve the hoop coop drainage next winter crown the dirt at the center about six inches higher than sides. Glad to see Lil Barn Cat make an appearence in the video. I assumed that there were still mice to be killed in the house so it's nice to hear that Lil is still on the hunt.
I was raised on a horse farm in Philadelphia. Yes inside the city limits, we had so many Cats it was amazing. They would line their prizes from the night before on the stoop of the back door to the kitchen. They were awesome and when we sold the place when I was in my late 20’s Suzy my last barn cat came with us to the new house. She lasted about another three years and was old and had to be put down because she was failing badly. That was in the late 80’s and to this day I still tell people of her exploits. Great Videos Thank You 🙏
I'm somewhat self-conscious about how invested I was in barn cat of the year results. They did not disappoint--congrats Mollie! An adorable video (plus shout out you, Morgan, for keeping a kill tally all year!) and killer t-shirt.
To help with your dampness issues, you might want to take a tractor, and scrape off a few inches of dirt around the hoop coop sloping away from it, and using some of the excess dirt, to raise the floor slightly inside the coop. Water does travel up through soil, but not too far, especially if you pack it down a bit inside. Creating more of a semi permanent floor, with proper drainage away from personal high traffic areas.
The contestants all did their best; congrats to Molly Murder Mittens for the win! Ginny can, should, and hopefully will someday win Feline Cinematographer of the Year, because that is definitely her metier, no other Gold Shaw Farm kitty comes close!
I love barn cats, they provide a vital service. Some people still rally on how they only harm birds or devastate livestock but they provide a vital service for pest control. Look at some other countries, like Australia, they have field mice plagues. I always want a cat in the house because field mice come inside as well, and I have my protectors. Well, except when they get dropped on my head at 3am.
Thank for all of the barn cat updates, I recently rescued a kitten that was seeking shelter outside our house in a window. We ended up keeping him and he is already killing mice. hes been here for almost a month and hes already killed 4 mice that I have found :) you are teaching me a lot of great things about giving a barn cat their best lives :)
Firstly I have to say I hesitated to watch this because of my fondness towards Alvin, Theodore, and Simon being added into this storyline, but you showed 'some' sensitivity by not rewarding the kills of my little friends, and I just looked away at those parts. Congratulations to Molly, looks like she enjoyed her prize. So another year has proven out that cats are cool and are earning their keep, lol. Thanks Morgan, always appreciate what's shaken at Gold Shaw Farm. Oh, I would love to see the cake you bake for Alison. See you soon!
The best part about dogs and cats is that when you employ them in a job, they're so stoked about it. The things they do best are also the things they enjoy doing the most. "You want me to stalk mice and chase predators away? Stand guard, monitor the perimeter and bark at things moving in the distance? AND you're gonna feed, house and protect me? Hell yes. Hell fucken yea, man. Let's do it. I'm so excited." There's good reason they're the top two pets humans take the most. The best animals God and man ever created.
I'm watching this video with my own former barn cat! Her mum is an excellent hunter and she got a few herself when she was a kitten. I love in the city though so she gets to live a life of luxury inside
A big hooray for Molly Wobbles. I must also say, I love the tiles you have in what looks like your entrance hall. And the fireplace too with a beautiful wood floor.
My beagle whippet mix Maverick started on mice and soon graduated to bigger game once catching three squirrels in a week. After his first year with me the house is clear of mice. He still seems to hunt them in backyard at 12 years old.

Your material is so good and at times super entertaining. I'm a cat person and despite your claim of not being one, it's hard to believe you, Morgan!😂🤣 Blessings from Cape Town.♥️🇿🇦🥂
I've never adopted a cat in my life, yet I have 4 outdoor cats that really help with local mouse population and help just in general, plus my girl Nala is such a sweetheart.
Congrats to Molly. Love the new shirt design. Got one for myself and the Wifey. We love Scotish Highland cows. Looking forward to SHC merch since I missed out on the late KC's shirt.
I never buy things from my subscriptions but I could not help myself with the Molly murder mittens t-shirt! I had to do it! I could see my kids now wondering why they're 67-year-old mom is wearing a Molly murder mittens t-shirt. 😂
Fun fact: were I come from the farmers gift each other tricolour cats(such as molly is). They are in high demand as they are said to be the best barncats. They are also supposed to bring luck. Sad side of the story is that black and red cats(which are quite rare luckily) are considered lazy and undesirable well and ugly though I find they look stunning. Farmers often get rid of them one way or another which I find incredibly sad.
There's a small sign at the edge of the woodline, seemingly scratched into the sign with a tiny claw, like a squirrel or chipmunk 🐿. It reads "Abandon all hope ye who enter here..."
Back at my parents old house, while they didnt have a farm or anything they lived next to a cornfield and so they'd get mice and rats every winter, then around 2020 some strays showed up and mom being the cat lover she is took pity on them and they never had a problem with rodents ever since lol Especially when the number of total cats was in the 12-14 range by the time they moved out in 2022 (they simply couldn't afford to live out there anymore) Edit: And to those concerned about the cats being left behind, there's an old neighbor who lives right next door to the old place who is part of the local TNR program and she's been taking care of them with periodic donations from me. She really loves Little Cloud and I hope she can keep her, Little Cloud is a beautiful diluted tortie point and she's just too pretty to be outside all the time
We started keeping chickens last summer. We’ve noticed since then that our, 6, cats have pretty much stopped catching birds. We have one seriously prolific cat, Tony, who specialises in bigger prey and goes after rats, rabbits and (the invasive) grey squirrels.
You remind me of a person I knew who was suppose to raise cows to be slaughtered, but when his kids started loving on them, he couldn’t slaughter them and ended up buying meat, so now he has these cows, they love them
Congrats to molly murder mittens for winning this prestigious award 🥳 I’m sure Ginny and Pablo will be looking to step up their game this coming year, Molly better keep those murder mittens sharp and nimble 💪

Barn cats earn their keep! Been keeping our barns and granaries rodent-free since our species learned how to farm. Being pretty cute goes a long way towards keeping them around, too.
Great video! I LOVE that Molly murder mittens shirt but I really dislike that all the shirt releases are limited. I can't afford to prioritize a Gold Shaw Farm t-shirt with my budget, so it would be really nice if the shirts are available for a couple months or make them a regular item in your shop

I'm not much of a cat person myself, but I got a kick out of the Purr-Cam. That's a very happy barn cat!
They've all done a lot of work! That's amazing!
It reads "Abandon all hope ye who enter here..."
comment for feeding the algorithm
it loves to snack on comments, replies and likes to both.
toss it a treat or two and watch the channel grow!
You are awesome at creating and telling stories. Just amazing. This channel rocks!
Great T-shirt, and congrats to Molly...keep up the good work.
Thank you!
We had to laugh at ourselves at how invested we were in this barn cat competition 😂 Keep up the good work, we love your videos. Cheers from Norway
Back at my parents old house, while they didnt have a farm or anything they lived next to a cornfield and so they'd get mice and rats every winter, then around 2020 some strays showed up and mom being the cat lover she is took pity on them and they never had a problem with rodents ever since lol Especially when the number of total cats was in the 12-14 range by the time they moved out in 2022 (they simply couldn't afford to live out there anymore)
Edit: And to those concerned about the cats being left behind, there's an old neighbor who lives right next door to the old place who is part of the local TNR program and she's been taking care of them with periodic donations from me. She really loves Little Cloud and I hope she can keep her, Little Cloud is a beautiful diluted tortie point and she's just too pretty to be outside all the time
Also take consideration a cat that brings a kill to your front porch. It means your kitty is attempting to feed you. It is an act of Kitty love.
It wasn't clickbait that got me to watch your video. It was the fact that it was about the cats 🐈 😁
Pablo is just letting the young ones have a chance
Admit it, Morgan!
You gave all the barn cats a special tuna dinner!
I know, you did 😅
Love your videos! Keep up the great work! :)
Lil showing how the "elders" do it even when injured
We started keeping chickens last summer. We’ve noticed since then that our, 6, cats have pretty much stopped catching birds. We have one seriously prolific cat, Tony, who specialises in bigger prey and goes after rats, rabbits and (the invasive) grey squirrels.
Congrats the winner of Barn Cat of the Year!!!!
THAT SHIRT IS AMAZZZZING!
Kitten, enunciate when you say it! 💘💘😹😹🐈⬛🐈⬛🐁🐁🐭🐭
"I am not a cat person!". To paraphrase Shakespeare, methinks Morgan complains too much 😄
You remind me of a person I knew who was suppose to raise cows to be slaughtered, but when his kids started loving on them, he couldn’t slaughter them and ended up buying meat, so now he has these cows, they love them
Congratulations Molly. ❤️ cats are an important to keeping the farm clean.
Congrats to molly murder mittens for winning this prestigious award 🥳 I’m sure Ginny and Pablo will be looking to step up their game this coming year, Molly better keep those murder mittens sharp and nimble 💪
That shirt is wicked cool.
I bet these are the happiest cats in the world.
This! Is probably one of my favorite videos. It was super interesting learning about their individual behaviors including who hunted where and their hunting styles!
your videos are helping me get past my breakup with my first love. thank you
Barn cats earn their keep! Been keeping our barns and granaries rodent-free since our species learned how to farm.
Being pretty cute goes a long way towards keeping them around, too.
That's the best shirt yet! Congratulations to Miss Molly :)
I think the reign of Molly Murder Mittens to is about commence! Love the t-shirt, when you revealed I thought that looks like a great band tshirt and then you gave the inspiration of heavy metal band! Congrats to all the barn cats for doing such a good job!
Nice to know that Pablo finally has got tenure ;)
I find it adorable that Pablo and other eat their kill, but Molly always leaves them by your door.
She's always making sure that you're getting fed. I LOVE IT!!!!
Hahaa your curly Scottish highlanders are reminding me of one of the Kanker sisters from Ed, Edd n Eddy
Woo Hoo!! Molly Murder Mittens!! I have been waiting for this shirt, she's my hero👏🏻💜😻
Gee, Morgan, when you revealed the T-Shirt, that was a real Chippendales move! 🤣
Hello Morgan, it looks like you have had a nice day, so Sir , you have a good evening,
