This is another exploration of the Lena Gemzoe style. I have painted a pretty abstract representation of sunrise in a place called Mungo, NSW, Australia. It is an amazing place that feels important in your stomach and heart. Really special!
An except from visit Mungo...
Mungo Lady and Mungo Man are perhaps the most important human remains ever found in Australia. ... They led to the establishment of Mungo National Park and the recognition of the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Area as a place that is important to all humanity.
My painting is attempting to capture that vast horizon and the colours you find there.
If you ever have the chance I would encourage you to go back. I will be going back there when the kids are a bit older.
Thanks for watching!
The colours I used were:
Cadmium red deep
cadmium yellow light
cobalt blue
light red
lamp black
paynes grey
burnt sienna
Happy Painting!

Rives BFK etching paper. Probably best to source this from your local store so you can look after the paper and not have it posted unless you are buying a large amount of paper and it will be looked after. There is nothing worse than getting hundreds of sheets all with a indent in them. Having said that you can actually source this paper from amazon:

Some people have been extremely happy with the state of the paper when it arrived (and some not!)
I love this paper it is soft and lights are lifted easily from it.

Colours so brilliant and it looks fab on the wall
Hi Gretel! It is always great to see what a painting will look like on the wall! It surprises me sometimes as it's not always easy to imagine what it will look like all framed up etc. Mungo National Park sunrises and sunsets are just amazing!
Lovely, Scott. Thanks!
Thanks Gar! I do love the place that inspired that painting! Mungo National Park! An amazing place!
Beautiful with the music ..many thanks Scott..regards from Catalunya Spain...
Absolutely magical, like watching the southern lights illuminating the sky.
It's magic
Thanks Meredith! The Mungo National Park is an amazing place!
I’ve never seen Watercolour dance before. Slow and graceful and the music is totally appropriate. Thanks for sharing Scott. This moved me deeply
Hi Chris, I know what you mean. When I saw Lena Gemzoe paint in this way I immediately loved it! Watercolour really can do some amazing things! I do love it! I’m about to embark on a commission that will be the largest watercolour I’ve ever painted. 2.5m x 1m! I’m pretty scared! Thanks for watching! 👍🙏
Scott Swinson wow that is huge! Keep posting, its so inspiring.
Will do! 👍

Another great painting. Thanks.
Thanks Joe! I’m going to do some smaller works coming up so they are not all just large and abstract. It is quite different to using a brush all the time though! Very new to me! Thanks for watching! 👍

Hi Mairead! Hope you are doing well in Dublin the fair city! Watercolour is such an amazing medium! I also love abstract work! If you have any questions about the medium of watercolour feel free to ask! Thanks for watching! 👍🙏
@@ScottSwinson Thank you, i started of in oils then acrylics and now for my sins watercolours, we are all well here, but still in lockdown, keep safe, have you being to Ireland ??
@@maireadharkin5124 Hi Mairead. Greetings from County Clare. I was born in Dublin but not lived there for many a year. I'm fairly new to watercolour also. Do you follow any other artists online?
Hi Mairead, yes I’ve been to Ireland a few times. Down to Dingle many years ago with fungi the dolphin and soooo many pubs with such great music! Great part of the world! It must be hard with lockdown not being able to gain social connection in the pubs! 👍
Hi Joe, the mind of watercolour seems popular and I also love watching a guy from japan I think. I’ll find his/her name and let you know. 👍
Very interesting technique. Thank you for sharing. What type of paper do you use?
Hi Rina, it is an interesting process that I’m quite unfamiliar with. I use Rives BFK etching paper but you could use any watercolour paper. Probably 300gsm cold pressed would be good. Thanks for watching!! 👍🙏
You have inspired me to try it. Sincerely, Paul "Pablo" Logan
🤩🤩👍🏻
👍😀👍
why didnt you tape off the whole painting??
What tape do you use?
I use 3m magic tape or similar tape from Woolworths that’s cheaper. Invisible tape. Cheers Scott
Thank you. Your works are beautiful btw. Subscribed.
I wish the audio was clearer. I cannot understand what he is saying.
Hi Phyllis! Sorry about that! I am gradually improving things including the audio. I now have the mic on a boom arm which makes it better snd I don’t talk while the music is on! 👍
Cosmic Dust
Thanks Wojtek! I don’t know what cosmic dust means but I’m hoping good things! 👍
Musak starts
I stop watching
Hi Joe, I put music in as there are big chunks of time where I’m not talking. I find talking and painting at the same time quite difficult especially if I’m painting something that is taking a lot of my concentration. Sorry to hear you don’t like the music. My more recent videos have less music and not when I’m talking. Happy painting mate! 👍
@Helen Gillis Why am I supposed to be interested in what bothers you??
Gee making art is a noisy business 😁
Yes I know! A bit of banging around!!! 👍🙏
