This is another exploration of the Lena Gemzoe style. I have painted a pretty abstract representation of sunrise in a place called Mungo, NSW, Australia. It is an amazing place that feels important in your stomach and heart. Really special!
    An except from visit Mungo...
Mungo Lady and Mungo Man are perhaps the most important human remains ever found in Australia. ... They led to the establishment of Mungo National Park and the recognition of the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Area as a place that is important to all humanity.
My painting is attempting to capture that vast horizon and the colours you find there.
If you ever have the chance I would encourage you to go back. I will be going back there when the kids are a bit older.
    Thanks for watching!
    The colours I used were:
    Cadmium red deep
    cadmium yellow light
    cobalt blue
    light red
    lamp black
    paynes grey
    burnt sienna
    Happy Painting!

Hi Gretel! It is always great to see what a painting will look like on the wall! It surprises me sometimes as it's not always easy to imagine what it will look like all framed up etc. Mungo National Park sunrises and sunsets are just amazing!

Hi Chris, I know what you mean. When I saw Lena Gemzoe paint in this way I immediately loved it! Watercolour really can do some amazing things! I do love it! I’m about to embark on a commission that will be the largest watercolour I’ve ever painted. 2.5m x 1m! I’m pretty scared! Thanks for watching! 👍🙏

Hi Mairead, yes I’ve been to Ireland a few times. Down to Dingle many years ago with fungi the dolphin and soooo many pubs with such great music! Great part of the world! It must be hard with lockdown not being able to gain social connection in the pubs! 👍

Hi Rina, it is an interesting process that I’m quite unfamiliar with. I use Rives BFK etching paper but you could use any watercolour paper. Probably 300gsm cold pressed would be good. Thanks for watching!! 👍🙏

Hi Joe, I put music in as there are big chunks of time where I’m not talking. I find talking and painting at the same time quite difficult especially if I’m painting something that is taking a lot of my concentration. Sorry to hear you don’t like the music. My more recent videos have less music and not when I’m talking. Happy painting mate! 👍
