- I got a request to show the motor and inner workings of the auto trunk mechanism. Your wish is my command to here you go.
Will be happy to film and post anything else you folks would like (assuming it's safe, doesn't require me to take apart my car too much and legal in all states :)
Thank you for the idea and request!
#Lincoln # TownCar #Trunk - Авто та транспорт
This takes "trunk tour" to a whole new level.
LOL! Yep, I'm practicing what I'm preaching :)
Fuel Pump Control module @3:31 and @3:49 that's your subwoofer box. @4:13 that box, is the amplifier for the cabin speakers inside the car. and @4:45 that is the little amplifier for the subwoofer in the plastic casing.
Thank you! You know about this stuff a lot more than I do :D
Wow nice, Thanks for the effort. Those plastic clip screws scare me, afraid they will snap.
I didn't expect this to be the video where I figure out the path of the trunk hinges (space concerns on the sides of the trunk)
I will be installing one of these trunk assist mechanism with all the wiring on a 03 signature
Good luck with the project!
Were you able to install the power trunk mechanism? If so how did you do it?
Yeah the pull down mechanism is what is giving me problems
Good job vitaly!!!
Thanks!
Thanks so much for doing this video I just got me a 2007 signature series with 85 k miles last august and it didn't come with the auto lift feature but I hope to see if that part of the wire harness is there and get the drive box thingy to hook it up because it's just an awesome feature to have thanks brother
Thank you for the idea! It was interesting to explore. Based on what other commenter stated - it's the same motor as for power windows so maybe will be easy to install.
were you able to install it?
Any news about this? Could you do that?
@@gelf6303 did you do anything?
I have an ‘07 Presidential with this feature, even has a pull cable in case one of the bodies I put in there is still alive, just pull the cable and, voila, trunk opens!
Hi Lincoln guy thank you we have an ‘03 Presidential Town Car remote no longer works can you give me trouble shoot why 🙃 also the truck release button in car just stopped working any ideas
Sorry, not a mechanic. Could be low battery, could be just fried remote...
If there is no battery in the car and the trunk is not latched, is there a way to latch or lock it ?
It will latch mechanically, but will not pull down
Mine opens fine but doesn’t automatically close. When I click the trunk button to close, I hear a click and nothing happens
Probably a motor issue
My 2005 Lincoln Towncar Signature Limited stopped operating properly. I can activate it opening with the key fob but I must be ready to catch the trunk lid and force it up with much force. I’ve had four back surgeries so keeping it open takes much effort. The use of my trunk is therefore virtually eliminated.
Sounds like trip to a mechanic is needed
Do you remember where you got that black mat from?
From a junk yard - pick n pull
Love your videos. I have a question about the rear park sensors. I have a 2003 Lincoln Town Car Cartier and have had the parking sensor fixed 3 times. it works fine for a while then i get the rear disabled message in the car. I'm at wits end with this continuing persistent problem. Plus its expensive to fix. One thing I've noticed is your parking sensor are not exposed on your rear bumper like mine. Again love your videos. Thanks
Thank you! From 2006+ parking sensors were hidden behind bumpers for cleaner look. Why other manufacturer's to this day didn't adapt this is beyond me... Sounds to me like it's the wiring issue and something is shorting out. Unfortunately I'm not a mechanic so can't advise further.
I had a problem with my DTS not to long ago, turn out to be road grime around one of the sensors,..
Are they also exposed on the DTS or hidden behind the bumper?
There exposed, got to make sure they stay clean from anything pretty much, when it gets cold with frost, they kinda go crazy at times ..
Can’t remember if my 05 Lincoln are exposed or not,I no my 91 don’t hav them at all ..can’t recall having any problems out of my 05 either..
@@americanbreed5116 Thanks! I think I'll cars now have all the sensors exposed. Must be some regulation thing. This is the first car I ever owned that has these sensors. I either had the backup camera or nothing at all.
Sometimes they need re aimed. And there a box you can clean with air directly under the trunk
Thanks
Can you show how the pull down works. Mine malfunctioning and i need to know what I'm getting myself into before i take it apart. Same vehicle but basic signature 06 tiwn car. I have no motorized trunk tho. Only pull down.
It catches the latch and pulls it down. Not sure what else I can show you
I'm trying to find it online but what I'm seeing don't match what i have. All I'm seeing is the automatic truck hood pull down motor.
Had a 97 town car with auto close
I have a 2004 lincoln town car Signature sedan when I press my trunk release switch bottom on driver door it want release my trunk need help
I would take it to a mechanic
Big black plastic thing is a subwoofer and the black module is the amp
Thank you!
It's an 8 inch subwoofer. That screw is center in back of woofer magnet so the plastic won't raddle or vibrate...
Thank you!
I just got an 06 limited and I'm trying to find the dam trunk button in the car without reading the manual.
On the door
Did All town cars had the automatic pulldown though?
No, only the top trims
@@VitaliyKofman
Oh okay. My grandpa has s signature with the pulldown but no power trunk. I think it is just signature series and not signature limited that’s why.
Hi everyone I have town car executive L 2011 can I do that Auto lift feature same signature series?
If you like to install the motor and link everything together, but I think it's a useless feature
I’m having an issue with mine . Not sure what it is yet . 2004 Ultimate
Either the motor of the pull down
Thought I would let u know,my 06 DTS doesn’t have it..that is a power window motor if u ever need to replace it..
That is a cool feature, wish all these cars had it myself..
Thanks for confirming on the DTS. So, the trunk motor is also the same for power windows?
Yes,not sure if it is left or right motor, left front window motor is the same as the right rear, right from the same as left rear, not positive, but I think the trunk motor is left front, driver motor, lot of manufacturers use widow motors, tough little motors, very easy to rebuild or replace the gears in..
Good to know if even fails! Thanks!
i’m trying to put one of these into a crown victoria police interceptor! i am trying to figure out everything i need to perform the swap
I'm no expert at this, but you'll need the motor and mounting brackets, as well as the electrical connection with remote control. It's also designed to work with the auto trunk pull down so you'll need to rig that. Not sure if it's worth all the efforts and expenses.
@@VitaliyKofman thanks for the heads up, i’ll have to look into it
@@spvxteryou ever end up doing it?
@@fordshuler307 not yet, too many other things going on, that project is on the shelf until i can figure out what i need for it
The big thig is a subwoofer and amp on top of it
What are your trunk dimensions at the bottom
Sorry, don't know
BMW 7 series had it since early 2000s. They always failed, leaked. Which is normal for a BMW
Oil the hinges :) mines silent when I did it
Good tip!
does this car have a spare tire
Yes, on the right side of the trunk
DO NOT forget, but remember, Signature L has it!
I never forget:)
I need to find a way to quiet the squeaky opening/closing.
It's brobably somethig in that motor, but it's a pain to get to it so do at your own risk :)
@@VitaliyKofman I’ll probably start with some lithium grease at the motor arms where they connect to the trunk hinges.
Alright, let me know how it goes
Can I evacuate the Crown Victoria in the same way as the bag?❤
I'm sorry, but I don't know what you mean? As far as I know, Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis never had auto-trunk motor, but I believe the trunk liner can be removed the same way. If you are trying to put that motor in Crown Victoria, you can probably attach it. Please let me know if I understand you correctly :)
@@VitaliyKofman I mean, can I make the boot of the Crown Victoria Hadlik like you have?
@@mrtitanium1074 I think it's possible. You will have to buy the motor and attachment arms, mount it in the same spot and I think the hardest part will be figuring out the electrical connection.
my trunk wont close even without the motot
Sorry to hear that. Probably the latch is broken
Keep your auto trunk opener, I'll take the extra trunk space and soft close feature
For as long as it keeps working, I'll keep using it :)
I want to put that in my 03 signature
It will require some drilling and assembly, but pretty sure it can be done, but I'll be honest with you - it's a pretty useless feature that looks cool, but highly unnecessary. Looking forward to more of your videos :)
