Ive got a 9700k paired with a 3060ti. I dont feel like I need to upgrade for another few years
Been using 9700k for four years and this looks like a little gain for atleast 500$ upgrade. Your video convinced me not to do it :)
Same. The FPS gain is too small and well above 100FPS in most cases. I am getting a 4080 and keep my i7 9700k for 1440p it's worth waiting
Well more than 500 seeing motherboard and cpu
@@foenix8094 the higher the resolution the more demanding it is for your GPU not as much for your CPU.
@@FROGSloums I just got my 4080 FE and I have a 3 year old i7 9700k and game at 1440p. There is a noticeable bottle neck but I'm not really dipping down below 100fps at 1440p ultra. I just don't know if I need to be concerned in any way otherwise.
Same here. Gaming at 4K really gives my CPU a chance to stay.
Edit: Decided to upgrade anyways and the difference is way bigger than what these charts show. No having to deal with microstuttering in newer games feels so good!
Just ordered an i5 13600K, can't wait to see the performance jump from my gimped i7 8700 :)
I switched from 8600k recently. Im speechless seeing how much performance it has.
@@SergiulGaming With my 2080 I've had since 2018, I went from getting about 180 frames tops in overwatch (low settings) to being able to run at 360fps in game with zero drops, same graphics settings... I'm blown away
@@swimisaac6353 what did you upgrade from? I have a 9700k with a 2080.
@@-gg8342 I had a prebuilt HP gaming pc with an i7 8700 that was terribly underperforming. The jump to the 13600k was insane
I‘m making exactly the same switch:)
Thanks for the advice! Will consider upgrading soon with those kind of performance games.
Never heard of your channel before but it popped up on my recommended feed so I checked it out. Verry decent production value for such a small channel and I am impressed. I really like that you presented good information but kept it short and sweet. I dont want to waste an extra 30 minutes of my time on random filler content so I really appreciate your approach. You earned a sub from me. Keep up the good work!
Meanwhile, me upgrading my 4770k/gtx1070 for 9700k/2070super for 300€
Nice, i have a 4790K in my collection 😊
I hadnt upgraded for that small numbers..:/ I have a I7 9700k with a gtx 1080Ti playes all games in 1080p Ultra or very high. So why upgrade..?
I’ve overlocked my old 9700K to 5,1 GHz and it had no problems running at that speed. I needed more treads for for other stuff so I sold it but it’s still a great processor for gaming.
Hiya buddy, seems I'm having a pretty big bottleneck with my i7 9700k and my rtx 3070ti. What's the best video to safely overclock? I struggle trusting people but would like to learn and research without frying my PC
Also is it worth it? Most videos showing shock vs overclocked sometimes stock has more fps? I'm so confused, is it worth doing?
13600K is a very good CPU, but tbh i would not replace 9700K to 13600K.
i have a 9900k with a 2080 super. its still a very solid gaming setup that wont become a hindrance for a couple years at least. ill look again at meteor lake or zen 5.
yeah was decent buy back then have the same 2080.S but waterforce and 9700k going good 32gb ram 2666hgz gigabyte elite MB
wont be buying any upgrades for years dont game nowdays bf5 etc hackers ruin it with aimbots but still fun
I'm still using a 9600k OC to 5.0Ghz and I've been really tempted to upgrade to 13th gen but honestly I don't really see a reason to yet. Could just be me but I'm still impressed with my 9600k performance (paired with OC 1660S + 16gb 3733Mhz) and all the games and programs I use still run just fine. I will probably upgrade once motherboards are bit cheaper since I'm rocking a mini ITX build and maybe once GPU are at a better price point
There's no reason to upgrade your 9600k if you have 1660S.
Same , Ihave a9600k with 1660ti but I play at 1440p and sometimes stream , so I decided to upgrade to 9900k with 4070 👌
You know, I think doing benchmarking for VR would be great because current hardware already exceeds requirements for 1080p and 1440p. VR however still has a long way to go to the top settings.
yeeeah, definitely, as a vr player, I agree
Loved this. I had a 10700k was wanting to upgrade a lot. This made me realize that I definitely do not need to upgrade for what I want, at least not yet, so thanks for that! Would recommend putting 1440p tho
I was on the same boat haha, currently running a rtx 3080 on 1440p. 10700K should last for at least a couple more years
To be real with you here, at 1080p the most you'll need for max settings 1080p is a 3060 if a solid 60 is all you're going for. WIth a 3080 you should have a 1440p screen, in which case the CPU will matter a lot less. So if you have money to spare and you already have a 9700K, just get a better monitor and invest in a good GPU, keep that CPU till some meaningful innovation happens.
Hello!
Same here!
I had a i7 9700 (no K) with a 3080. When I played Wz or MZ2, the cpu was at 100% of load all the time, even if I optimise the cpu in the bios.....
Then I upgrade my pc with an i713700K. Big difference! Same results as you! I just change the cpu bracket with a contact frame , like this I have 5/10*C less for my cpu.
I wish i would have had this video 3 weeks ago when i upgraded my identical system (9700k and 3080) to a 13600k! As happy as i was with the performance of the 9700k, it's a substantial difference between the two. Awesome video and i couldn't agree more! If you are considering it, go for it!! You will be overly satisfied!
How hotter it runs your new 13600k in comparision with your previous 9700k?
Go for it? Only to gain a little increment of performance? For at least 500$ of difference? Are you crazy?
@@albertoomestre i have acutal a 9700k and waiting for 15th gen intel or 8 gen amd...the 9700k really struggles when it comes to raytraced games
Great video bro!
I wish you success
Can you make a video about overclocking 9700k too?
on mine i literally changed the cpu clock ratio to 50 (from 36) and it was at 5ghz stable, so long as you have a good cooler it should be able to cope with this without changing anything else.
My 9700k @ 5.0Ghz paired with a 3080 Strix provides excellent performance, however, I was very tempted to upgrade to a 13600k. The difference in performance has convinced me to wait for the 14th gen...Meteor Lake is going to be INSANE.
yeah, cant wait for meteor lake so i can get a i7 13th gen for cheaper
I have the same CPU and I’m going after 14600K next year, it’s more than enough for 4k gaming, i care more about less power/heat than gaming performance at this point.
Might wait for 15th gen tho, 14th is looking like it's for mobile only, however it's rumoured that a refresh of raptor lake is coming soon..
MY 9700kf oced to 5.1 paired with 3070 holds me from 13700k also waiting and wondering should i upgrade or wait for 14th.
I just ordered a 13600kf on sale to replace my 9700k, can't wait to see how it'll work with my 3080 Ti
Thank you for making this niche video for 9700 users
I bought the 9700k years ago on a great sale. Glad it's still kicking all these years later.
What is better 9700k or i5 12400f
It is... i did this, upgraded to 13600KF from a 5.0 Ghz 9700k... its just so much powerful and effortless... i didn't even had to overclock anything, it goes to 5.1 Ghz by itself on the main cores and 3.9 on the e-cores, i even kept my old DDR4 3600 RAM with it... better 1% and avg fps on every game i play, even on Star Citizen i get great fps and stability... loving it.
How hotter it runs your new 13600k in comparision with your previous 9700k?
@@Crubik96 Well, my 9700k was at 5.0 and 5.1 on winter, at about 1.28 or 1.3 with an H115i Pro, with 3 push 120mm fans from asetek, really powerfull, and 2 pull 140mm fans from corsair, not as powerful but they did the job... the 13600Kf on the other hand is on a ThermalRight pearless or something 120, the cheapest one... like 39 euros for twin fans and twin towers... it is at stock but keeps turbo at 5.1 over a whole 30 mins workload of davinci....
the 9700k at 5.0 was around 79c with all that cooling
the 13600kf is around 78-79c aswell, finishing the job in almost half the time, pushing 10-20 fps more in almost all my games at 1440p, and with a lot cheaper cooling system.
i will not be overclocking the 13600kf at all.
I have a i7-9700 with a 16GB 4060, and 64GB of ram. Has no problem running rust at a msi afterburner locked 50fps. At ultra graphics, gpu's at 15GB, and the ram uses 24GB, but the cpu never goes over 70-80% usage(i have system monitor, and afterburner showing hardware info).
This kind of test doesnt make sense to me. If you own 9700k+rtx3080 and still play in 1080p, the next upgrade you should consider is your monitor, not your cpu.
Why only 1080p ? in 1440p and 4k the differnce is lower.
BRO. I am on i7 3770 since January 2013 and now it's January 2023 almost on our heads. I purchased 13600KF and other items like MSP Z690 DDR 5, CORSAIR 5200MHz DDR5, EVO 980 NVME M.2 this black friday. Finally excited to move 10 Gens ahead after 10 years in a single leap.
Yoo this is actually exciting brother let me know updates
What happened?
bought the i7-9700k around 2017 au$680 and a deepcool watercooler $85 & the RTX 2080.S waterforce havent looked back been going greatsince
Oneday mite open the watercoolers for a clean there mite be a bit muck build up in the copper fins but until then . whoosh
Doing the same thing but I am going from a 9700K to a 13700K instead with Hynix A Die memory. I'm not going to go nuts with it & clock the memory to 8000mhz like some are doing for some impressive gains but I know the RL CPU's come to life when paired with some good sticks of DDR5 ram.
How did your tweaking and stability go? I've heard recently about the stability issues 13th and 14th gen CPU's have, especially if you try to overclock the memory-controller.
A good rule un upgrading is, that you need at least a 50% uplift (normally 100%) to justify a upgrade.
30% is not justifiably in my opinion. DDR5 would give you another 6% maybe.
At least you took the most price sensible option in using your existing DDR4.
Thx for the Video. Looks like my 9700k @5ghz will still be mine for another year or two.
Yep same here... 9700k @ 5ghz, 2080 ti and 32gb ddr4. Will run this as long as possible and, not going to upgrade single components. Still happy with it playing at 1440p. In a few years i will get a new pc...
as long as you tuned your ram with the 9700k it still games fine.
Great video! I’m in almost the exact place you were with a 9700K and a 3080ti. I think I’ll wait until the AMD competition releases and see how they compare to the 13th Gen Intel lineup.
heye man, what did you end up going with
Just got a whole build for $250 i7 9700k 16g corsair rgb vengeance ram, gtx 1070, corsair 280x case, 240mm aio corsair and 4 rgb fans with hub, z390m mpg msi motherboard, 2tb hard drive, 850w power supply corsair x, I have a spare ssd and rtx 3070 to upgrade it. Kinda a good pick up ngl. I also recently found a full atx z490 mb and i7 10700k for $140 which is tempting since I have every other part to build it which is great but idk.
nice stats, i actually use an i7 7700k so i now plan to upgrade it with an 13600k
How does the improvements in benchmark numbers actually felt by human experience? Do u really feel a difference watching or playing ?
Lets say if u were given your own 2 computers intel 9700k and 13600k to try and play games without telling u which one is it, then would u be able to differentiate?
This is one of the most worthy and accurate (objective) questions in whole youtube, so thank you!
@@pc_blend But i bet the pc feels more responsive huh.
Biggest difference is stutters. I used to get a ton on the 9700K (reaching 100% usage) but now I've not seen a single stutter ever since I've upgraded to the 13700K.
i play most of the time 4k should i upgrade to i5 13600k or stay on i7 9700k? and save money
I'm upgrading my build and i went with the i7 13700K instead. But play at 1440p so the gpu will be next. Currently on a 2070 super
Thanks for the video. So you have a RTX 3080 and you game at 1080p? This explains why your system is bottlenecked by the CPU as the 3080 is more designed for 4K /1440p. I suspect that the impact of such CPU upgrade would be much less significant at 4K.
That's why you benchmark in 1080p to avoid GPU bottlenecking and blurring the results. At 4k it becomes a GPU benchmark basically
@@drgog4300 I play 1440p with a 9700k/2080S and I want to upgrade my gpu. I'm checking these vids to see how much the 9700k would bottleneck me, the 1080p isn't relevant for me
@@scylk there will be less of a difference at performance at 1440p as the GPU is almost always the workhorse in 1440p gaming.
No hyperthreading on a CPU is a dealbreaker for me. I went with the 13600K and it’s a beast.
I just feel weird going backwards from my current i7 to an i5. I have an i7 10700f and wanted to updgrade to i5 13600k because its faster on benchmarks that I can find but I'm going backwards from i7 to i5 right? Isn't that a downgrade then?
@@slayridah 13600K is a beast dude. 10700 is old news.
@@pc_blend My last two build I bought i7 to future proof, in the end by the time I felt like upgrading, the i7 would have bottlenecked current high end gpu. So I feel like high end CPU is just not worth it for gaming, just buy i5 with mid end mobo and you're good to go.
upgrrading my 6700K to 12400F together with a AsRock B660M Riptide (with blck OC). 12400F at 5,2 GHz with same or better performance ingame as 12600K with 50%less power. Got it for under 300 bucks. Thats probably the best value for DDR4 with new gen CPU right now without losing out on single core performance if you'd go for Ryzen 5000.
I went from 9700K to 13700KF and some Games had huge improvements. Spiderman was the main reason I upgraded and I went from 55-80 to 130-165. Its crazy. Also my Endgame Saves in Anno, Planet Zoo and Cities Skylines were hardly playable at

I've got the 9700k at 5GHz and 2080S. I guess for gaming in 1440p there's not much of a diffrenz. i will upgrade in 2 odr 3 years. I think a good set-up will last 6 years our so. my last was an 4770k with a gtx 970. after 6 years i upgraded to my current set-up.

Great video. You got a sub. I currently have a 7700k which I am considering upgrading to the 13600k… if I can afford it that is.
Ive had my i7 9700k since 2020 and although it is still good to use for some years, I really am considering going with Intel 15th gen when it comes out. 2NM I think they said and 14th gen has 7NM technology.
Yes it is definitely worth the upgrade. The IPC gain is a huge jump, and pretty much any 13600k can hit 5.5ghz on the P cores. Along with Samsung b-die or hynix a-die DDR5 you pretty much have an i9 disguised as an i5 with 2 less cores
From what point of view? I've got a Z370 motherboard with i5 8400 and going with a sub 200€ 9700k seems a lot better than dropping 500€ on a new chipset and 13600k
Yo! cant wait for the upcoming vids. Right now I'm running an 15 8600k, and an rtx 3060ti. What do you think my next path for a CPU should be that shouldn't really break the bank

Por que mientras más alta la resolución más demanda en la gpu y menos en el procesador, no vale la pena subir de un 8700 a no ser que te sobre el dinero
Thanks for the video. I think I’ll stick with the 10700k for now. 4090 is running like a champ in 4K and VR.

if you game just a little after work then upgrade is a waste of money for you
When you finally upgrade to 1440p someday, you will regret having spent so much time with 1080p. It’s a huge difference in clarity and detail, and you’ve clearly got a system that can handle it. Prices have come way down too, so there’s really no good excuse unless you don’t have the coin… I made the jump 3 years ago and I was thrilled with the difference. Every single old game in my library got a big increase in graphical fidelity. It was like installing a high res texture pack on all of my old titles. Made me super excited to replay through them all.
Really don’t understand… I don’t believe you’ll see any difference in your game by changing cpu.

Why not investing in a better monitor?

At the moment there are great choices available for a fair price! Hope we’ll get some better GPU deals in the near future as well. But your 3080 is still no slouch. the 13600K is perhaps the best processor Intel have made in a while (15 years or so). The 13700K isnt worth it.
Would have liked to see the gaming benchmarks at 1440p and 4k. At 1080p you're definitely CPU bottlenecked in both cases, and it's not really indicative of what resolution gamers are actually running these days (at least not the gamers who are overclocking a 9700k or buying a 13600k). I have a feeling that at higher resolutions, the difference would drop significantly.
The difference does drop when you go up in resolution. But if you have a very strong GPU for the resolution you play on, the difference is still noticeable especially in terms of 1% lows.
I just upgraded from i7 4770k to i7 13700k. I think it was about time, after 9 years. But i must say that old i7 4770k paired with GTX 1070Ti still managed to run all games on 1080p at 60fps. But lately my games started to freeze or bluescreen sometimes, so it was time to retire my old boy.

HELP i have an i7 9700k and an rtx 3070ti.. would i see much improvement gaming upgrading to a 14600k ?
It means a waste of money
what made so much sense for you is the cost. what $450 ish for your new combo? 9700k sells on ebay used for 199 and your old board is likely 75 at least. that pays for more than half of your upgrade. i did similar earlier this year with a stupid deal on an 11900k / z590 that cost me all of $60 over what i sold the 9700k / z370 for. no idea why old parts have so much value but they do
Went from 9700k to I9 13900k with a 2080TI, solid 240 fps in Apex in br, no need for a GPU upgrade
I want to buy RTX 2080 Ti coming from RTX 2080
I upgraded to i9 13900K but with my old RTX 2080 not Ti can't afford 40 series don't buy 30 series at all
it depends which games you play, i upgraded my 9700 to a 13600k and saw double the performance in some situations, even at 1440p with the same DDR4
I am looking into the 13600k too, coming from a i7-8700(non-k). So far I have filled my shopping cart a couple of times but still not ordered it. As you showed in your results, the older CPUs do still deliver a decent gaming performance which, in my opinion, will not really be much of a difference once equipped with the latest model...
wait amd releases new cpus and prices might drop dont rush it
8700 nonk here too. what keeps me from getting a new cpu atm is the power draw on current cpus. my 8700 has 65watt tdp, but almost never goes abow 55watt draw. a 13400f needs up to 115w to deliver its performance, locking it to 65watt max, will decrese the performance significantly. what happend here? is effience just not wanted anymore?
1440P results would have been nice. Most of the people want to play 1440P. I think the difference would have been much less.
Most of us are playing at 1440p though, and to me the benefit just isn't there yet to jump from an OC 9700k. Differences are less than 15% in most games.
Yeah but you can't see stutters on the graph. Upgraded and no more stutters!
What exactly is "CPU FPS" and "GPU FPS"? Or, in some other games, "CPU Game FPS" and "CPU Render FPS"? And how did you measure that?
Man thanks for this bro. Really man. I’m on a i7 8700k and wanted to know this. Same GPU Rn too. 3080.
I’ve ordered my i9 13900kf… my current is i7 7700 k… I’m pretty sure I’ll feel the difference 😂

I just replaced my 2080ti with a 6800XT. Looking at replacing my 9700k in a few months. I was considering a 13700k but I might switch to ryzen 7 so I can keep the mobo and upgrade it again when the last am5 cpu launches.
The main gains are on the % lows.
Nice presentation, no bs talking, just facts, thank you
I went from 1 level higher on each one tested here, 9900KS to 13700K. Absolutely worth the upgrade! Games are ultra smooth and the 13700K pushes my 3090 to the limit. The difference makes it seem like I slotted a 3090 ti in. In productivity benchmarks it's at least 2X as fast as my 9900KS and if anyone is into emulation wow the new processors are a beast at emulation.
How much hot runs the 13700k in comparision with your previous 9900k?
You do know what the difference between 13700k and 13600k is very negligible especially for gaming, right?
@@771Maxim Yeah, I just couldn't see myself going from what was essentially 8 P cores down to 6 P cores. LOL
@@Slickman2006 ik that just looking at pure hardware it seems like an easy choice for an upgrade. But you get like 2-5% difference for over paying like a 100$ for the cpu. Thats not including the fact that you need a better mb to support those cores and a powersupply with 2 additional 8 pin connectors(i didn't have one before). So i personally dont even see a reason to upgrade. I use my pc for stuff besides gaming, like CADing and slicing. And even for that there are negligible returns.
Intel brands the i7 and i9 as the ultimate gaming cpus. But what kind of game would even need 8 or more cores?
Idk, just throwing my 2 cents out there.
Have a good day
I thought of upgrading my i7 8700 to either 13600k or 13700k because I am playing CK3 and it's really slow late game if there is great holy wars, where I can only move after waiting for around 5-10 minutes at the start of the war.
13700K if you can stretch the budget. I have it and it's a beast at gaming and productivity. You can also easily undervolt it so it never throttles even at full load.
@@Slickman2006 noted on that. Thanks for the input
I had a i7 8700k and a RX 6900xt ultimate, the cpu upgrade was BIG.
Replaced the i3 10100 with a 12600k in my sons computer and the difference was staggering. Paired with a 6650 xt jumped to over 100 FPS in Dying Light 2 when before it hovered around 65-70.
Do you think it would be worth going from a 12900ks to a 13900kf? I don't want to regret it or spend money silly
@@pc_blend I have to agree. It's not worth it. I would be a different story if you were at least on 9th or 8th gen as there's enough gap in performance between those generation vs the 12th gen and up to justify spending for the newer stuff. Also you already spent a ton since you have a 12900KS which was crazy expensive out of the box over the regular K model. Unless 14th gen somehow manages to quituple the 13900k in performance i say wait at least 2-3 more generations.
Lol, no way. Save your money for an upgrade that you'd notice, like your GPU or monitor.
1:02 Dude is your MoBo still alive? cause i see a serious MoBo twisting inward due to excessive tightening of your cooling system.
Motherboard is still alive! I’ve changed the pump/block orientation for better fit. Thanks for asking 👍
Not really too relevant if you intend to be GPU bound right? (playing at higher settings and resolution) and won't need/use the CPU horsepower much.
I'm more of one to by the latest GPU, but instead get a few gen old i7K for really cheap.
Doing fine with a Ryzen 5 3600 and an RX580. Am I able to run games at 200fps in 4K? No, but it's really not a bad gaming experience for a $375 build.
I went today from a 1366 socket 990X to a 12600K on an RTX 3070. Massive benefits. I can finally run BF 2042. Also, my Excel spreadsheet works fine now. I'm looking to upgrade to 13600K next year when prices drop a bit more.
@@littleguyjoe22 if you are just going to play games, the i5-13600K is going to last exactly the same and it'll be easier to cool, so all your rig will have lower temps and will end lasting longer.
This was juicy considering I'm making the jump from an i7-6700k!
Subbed ❤️
1:42 this is why I still have 9700k.
i got a 4070 coming in for my i7 9700k that ill be using with my 4k tv, hope it works
Same cpu/gpu here. It'll do fine. I'm getting 100-120 fps on Doom Eternal 4K/Ray Tracing, max detail.
I went from an i7 9700k to a i5 12600k and I'm seeing very solid performance boost in nearly everything I do, gaming, streaming, bit of video editing, and being able to have a Pcie gen 4 SSD's is really nice, i ended up going with the Samsung 980 pro 1tb and its ben brilliant and very solid for what i do. I was going to get the i7 12700k but just didn't really need it to be fair and I'm very happy that i did go with the i5 12600k as its been amazing for me so far and ill just chuck the i7 13700k in a couple of years or something i have it paired with an rtx 2070. I'm just waiting for the rtx 4070. Got it at 5.1ghz all core for the P-Cores and 4.1ghz for the E-Cores 100% stable with extensive stress testing,
ah you guys are straight up lying
@Eric lol enjoy wasting so much money
@@wiziek Lying about what you clown
I'm going from a 6600k to a 13600k. Just waiting to see how the AMD 7000 series cards turn out. May buy last gen if it's not worth it.
Good work, sitting on a 10700k rt now wondering the same thing
The GB z690i gets pcie 5 with a bios update btw
Your welcome from a fellow Gb z690i user
Pleas test i7 8700k 5Ghz vs 12600k 5ghz gaming, pubg
Impressive performance!
I'm on the fence right now, not sure if I want to wait for 7950X 3D or purchase 13900KF.
I currently have a 9700K that bsod's at 4.8Ghz lol :(
Which did you end up going with?
ive just upgraded my 9700k to a 13700k and the performance jump is massive. the cpu wasnt the only upgrade i went from a mega budget z390 ud from gigabyte to a high end asus rog z690-e and went from a 16gb 3200mt kit to a 32gb 6000mt kit but I think its well worth it and getting a motherboard more inline with the cpu give me much more performance so for me now my gpu is bottlenecking the system.
What GPU do you have that's bottlenecking?
@@SpecialOperator a little of a harsh term but its the main limiting factor i have a 2070 lol
@@soul54 Are you gaming on 1440p at high refresh rates?
@@SpecialOperator ya im playing 1440 240 at med rn i want max setting
@@soul54 Yeah then you can buy the 4090 and then sell 2070.
It's worth it to get 4090 with that CPU that you have.
You will be able to run 1440p at ultra + Ray Tracing ultra at high frame rates
wonderful video, might have to sub
👀
Thank Gods I can still be useful
by my i7-9700K
it's like everybody has forgotten about alder lake.
If you play on 1080p upgrade
If you play 1440p or higher not worth
Thx for this video
I'm in an awkward spot and would love some input/advice.
I have an rtx 3070ti and i7 9700k, both stock. Is it worth overclocking would be my first question?
Second question is, I have 32 gb of ddr4 Corsair 3200mhz but I've had to run it at 3000mhz else it crashes. I presume it's due to running it over 4 slots 8x4 sticks. Some reason it just blue screens on startup unless I have it running at 3000mhz rather than 3200.. could this make a big difference in performance? Thanks for the help! I really can't afford a new cpu yet so a new MOBO and Cpu is out of the question.
3000 -> 3200 on DDR4 is basically no difference. Best bet is to go with the default XMP profile. Overclocking can get you 5-10% more performance at the cost of 10-20% more power/heat.
我的是3700*4 c14 原来是3200
So you bought an Intel 13th gen, and a new motherboard that uses DDR4? The uplift in gaming by switching to DDR5 is practically the entire reason to purchase the 13600k. Jeez
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oops
The 13600k can run 5,5-5,6Ghz stable with a descent AIO, so yep there is quite some more performance left on the table.
And if you go with 6000-6400mhz DDR5 you will se another 10% lift in gaming performance, but not in heavy workloads. ddr5 seem to be most benefactory towards gaming, and you need to spend a truckload of cash to get some really good ones. Only recomended if your old pc is so out of league that you go for a totally new build. Otherwise this video is very spot on, if you are on a tighter budget. I myself is almost done ordering in the last bits and pieces on my 4000$ rig-build.
To give one hint i went for a z690 apex board😜 so the bar was set from the getgo. Psu asus rog thor 1200w and nvme:s 5x samsung 980pro 2tb left to buy in december and spending the holidays on building👌
