As usual, John you have this amazing capacity of wrapping it all up. 😮
Thanks very much! Appreciate the kind feedback!
As always, great video 🍷
Thank you kindly! Cheers!
I Have a mag of 89' Pichon Baron, I spose I should pop pretty soon. I think it was a wine spectator "wine of the year"?
Should be in a terrific place! No rush big no need to wait either. Yes, it was the WS wine of the year in 1992.
Its a good wine for sure, just tend to pick Montrose over it...
Got a 1990, that im going to drink soon, might sway me back to Baron, when it come to Big bulky Pauillac. 😀
The 1990 is tremendous! It just might bring you back! 🍷
Great informative video. For me that’s the beauty of Bordeaux, the rich history. Personally it was that which originally drew me in. The stories never get old. Now specifically with Pichon de Baron-Longueville, it’s a wine that has for the most part eluded me. I’ve had the pleasure of only experiencing the 1990 vintage with roughly 20 years of age. Still a pup, but an incredible, complex wine none the less. Currently I have the highly rated 2018 in my cellar. I’m a long ways away from experiencing the ‘18. However your video has made me more excited for that special day.
Thanks very much! Completely agree with you about the rich history! The 18 should be tremendous! Excellent choice!
Sorry to but in on a claret video, John, but I can't immediately find the relevant clip in your library. I have just bid for three bottles of Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia, 2021. Have you tasted it (from any year) and/or have you done a video on it? It looks to be a Bordeaux blend, drinking now to 2033, and I think it is Ornellaia's second wine or label. Many thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
Yes, I discuss that one in this short dedicated Ornellaia video.

@@AttorneySommThanks, John. Sounds good. This is the 2021 and at £133 per three in-bond sounds like a bargain, compared with $80 per bottle for the 2020 mentioned in your video. TWS suggests that it is drinking now to 2033. In your experience, is it a fruit forward wine? Many thanks.
@@stevenholt4936 2021 is definitely a level up in quality too, so this is a very good buy indeed! This one definitely benefits from at least a couple years of age, but it can show reasonably well young with a long decant and a meal.
Any thoughts on the Les Tourelles de Longueville? I’ve tried the Grifons and quite enjoyed it, but I know the Les Tourelles is quite different and Merlot based.
Yes, I discuss that one at the end of this video.
@@AttorneySomm jumped the gun lol (figured the algorithm wants fast engagement so I commented fast)
@@Str1fe5 Thanks! No worries. I definitely appreciate it! 👍🍷
Tourelles de Longueville is more open, more on the fruit very easy to drink. Griffons is stronger with right tannins and more complexity. Griffons needs time to age meanwhile tourelles is like an everyday wine.
@@zangalapetite Thanks for weighing in. Cheers!
Only you can discuss in great detail all the aspects and intricacies of Bordeaux’s major wineries. This new one is a concise but comprehensive, informative, and insightful discussion of Chàteau Pichon Baron and its close connection to Château Pichon Lalande - such a delight to watch you in your element, discussing this producer and its wines with evident expertise and authority. Greatly appreciate your inclusion of Pichon Baron’s farming and winemaking philosophies and practices. You’re right about their second wines being excellent cellar defenders! Finally, your wine-collecting and wine-buying tips, strategies, and recommendations will surely go a long way especially for those who collect and invest in Bordeaux wines like this phenomenal producer’s wines. Thank you for doing all the hard work for us and for ‘translating’ everything into highly engaging, enjoyable, educational wine content. Cheers, John!
Thanks very much, Margaux! Very glad you enjoyed it! Such an excellent producer. Appreciate your thoughtful comment! Hope you have a terrific week! Cheers! 🍷🍷
@@AttorneySomm You’re welcome, John! Have a very nice Sunday!🍷🍷
can't wait for you to get famous
Thank you kindly! Cheers!
