Wow wow wow! This is a total immersion course about 5th Growth wines. I only recognized a few of them. Great ones, great vintages!! I honestly didn’t know about the precise details you talk in this pedagogical video. I’m going to be like those, in the wok movement, to look for this elegant wines at that price point. Simply unbelievable. I do like to drink good quality wines and here you are John, advising us in every of your videos as the great consultant you are. A big thank you John, et Santé

Nice video John, looking forward to part 2 already 😁

  • @georgigeorgiev-ei4or

Very good video again.I still have good memories from Chateau Haut-Batailley 1979 in magnum.Cheers.

  • @stevenholt4936

I can testify to the quality of Grand Puy Lacoste's second wine. I opened a Lacoste-Borie, '14 , last weekend - no rush to drink but it was excellent. Also, love Pontet-Canet.

Love the Bordeaux content. Surprising that there were so many names I didn’t even recognize.

  • @Roni10mm

Love the look today ! Very sharp

Great video John. Love those deep analytics of the wineries and your recommendations on great vintages. Helped me a lot in my buying strategy. I have a weakness for the 2008 vintage. While not as strong as 2009 and 10, some wines still get decent ratings (Pontet Canet 96RP/wine of the vintage) and sells sometimes on secondary market for almost 1/2 the price of 2009. Keep up the good work. 🤌🍷

  • @rickwezenaar

I like the hat! I love some of the wines you mentioned. Thanks for again a very interesting video! cheers from The Netherlands ^_^

  • @bovukovic6001

    Great video John, thank you!

  • @ToccataLuna

Awesome stuff man! I think 5th growth Paulliacs gotta be the value kings of 1855 class growths. So much improvement but still retaining modest prices. I recently found 2020 Grand Puy Ducasse for 37 dollars at my local Trader Joes. Definitely young but just unbelievable wine for the money. Wondering if you’re including Pedesclaux in the next video? Looking forward to it!

  • @margauxml

When it comes to discussing the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and the Chateaux on that legendary list, I wouldn’t trust anyone else but you. Congratulations on this excellent video - so comprehensive, well-researched, superbly presented, and clearly explained. I see some of my favorite Châteaux here, and I look forward to seeing the rest soon in your upcoming part 2 video. Cheers, John!

  • @gustavomgomes

Some very interesting and wines ! Cheers !

  • @wren460

Great video John ! I want to suggest a theme for one future video of yours. Please talk about how to plan a trip to Bordeaux. When and where should be the core topics. I would like to go and take a good extended stay in Bordeaux, maybe something like 10 days or so, and I dont want to pay 1,000 Euros per day for guided tours. Also, try to explain to us when to go. Going when its crowded is not fun. I can find many things over the internet, but I rather want to ask someone like you that is so pasionate about this.

As always a great video. Some decent value for money in 5th growths. Do you think any of the classified growths will take the Ministry up on its program to rip up vines and replace them with other crops? Cheers.

  • @nigamdalal5899

I really enjoy your content. Question- do you have any recommendations on must visit wineries when in Bordeaux ? Thank you.

  • @jcbd9415

quick question. in general, how would you rate the 15,16,18,19,20 vintages? I know they're all considered strong vintages, which ones would you consider the "best, mid, worst" overall (left and right bank)

  • @ElyriaRecords

you are good on the wine, bad on the French! Sorry. . .
