An interesting idea would be a set of osmo pockets with native 15mm (rectilinear), 24mm (or 35) and 50mm lenses. All focal lengths with the same aperture and sensor size. I don't think they would do this on a single device, hence a set of Osmo pockets. I would buy that in a heartbeat.
Ooh that's a good idea - or whatever the Mavic 4 Pro will be (hopefully Super35 sensor). But a 24mm f2.8 Super35 + a 65-70mm as a second camera would be cool.
Couldn’t agree more I have pocket 3 and the amazing Ronan 4D with the flex and transmission monitor But would love some in between the two I have worked with DJI and suggested this years ago !
Great video. Truly hope DJI sees this and considers bringing this same concept just enhanced with all of the knowledge they acquired through these passing years. Maybe a DGO version like how the GH7 sensor is with computational processing.
Dude! I've been wishing for DJI to make something like this (full frame, though) not even realizing they already made it years ago! They need to do it again!
This was my dream camera, as quickly as it appeared and was a thing, it disappear quicker and was overpowered by drones, action cameras and other phone turned video cameras.
*great video and yes I would absolutely buy another Osmo pro 25 edition! I got mine because I was flying an Inspire1 pro and my wife have a lumix g7 which as you know the lens are interchangable! I will never get the osmo4 as Id never walk into a paid job with such a small camera! with that said I do have the Ronin 4d 8k as well as the Inspire3 both of which are amazing! with my osmo pro I found a battery adapter for a mavic 1 battery and works for 8 hours! this makes for a great car rig with a suction cup I took mine at 80 mph and gimbal stayed strong! For the Ronin 4d 8k I also added the flex cable to ensure I had ability to go smaller if needed! am very glad to see someone still sees value in the original osmo pro lol!*
Can they at least make the updated Zenmuse X7 gimbal compatible with a gimbal handle? Although a M4/3 lens mount would be best. I'd love the Pro Raw updated. Just make quieter, interchangeable lens, small monitor. Keep interchangeable batteries with option for dummy battery. At minimum, make a pocket 3 with lens options for wide and telephoto. For now, I'm using my Lumix GM1 strapped onto a Hohem M7 😊 or my Scorp Mini 2 with the camera brand's monitoring app.
Great video! Something very portable with good dynamic range, fast readout and built in NDs in a S35 or Full Frame format that can shoot internal raw, pretty much checks all the boxes for me. I know DJI is working on this… they would be crazy not to be.
FYI: At the time there was an adaptor that you could use the Inspire 1 batteries with that camera. The TB48, had about 18 minutes of flight time and from memory you could record for 40+ minutes. Also when the Inspire 2 was released DJI had promotional material for an updated version but it never got released >
Damn I had no idea this existed ...! I would definitely be super curious about a replacement. As for the pocket, the lack of interchangeable lenses definitely reduces my interest.
It is definitely a forgotten camera. Incredible concept, way ahead of its time, but no doubt DJI could knock this out of the park with their modern-day know-how.
I totally forgot about this camera. I remember wanting one after Film Riot did a few videos on it. It would be super cool to see DJI bring this kind of system back, however unlikely.
omg, this just reminded me that i have the osmo pro combo in the basement collecting dust. man this camera had such potential....couldn't focus worth for shiiiii tho. but I'm sure it could have been fixed with update. let me see if i can get at least $100 for it #ugh
Hello, concernant le DJI Osmo, on peut remplacer le téléphone par un DJI Christal Sky ce qui améliore grandement le combo et surtout fini le GSM et on peu aussi un 4 eme axe.
@CurrenSheldon I've actually got one. It definitely makes it better.

a mirrorless 1D 8k so baically the 4d 8k without all gimbals that would be the b-cam i would instantly buy ... the osmo would also be great but i woul also love to see the amazing mavic 3 pro mft sensor on the osmo and on the action cam etc ...
I think it was like $4,000 upon release, but that doesn't count the SSD, which was like $1500-$1800 for 512GB... Things have changed dramatically since 2016. This was before the first mirrorless camera even had 10-bit 422 in 4k, let alone internal raw (The GH5 came out in 2017!). DJI was way ahead of its time with this camera, but unfortunately they just didn't have the capabilities they do now.
thanks for the input ! I wanted to see if this product was relevant in 2024 : which is not certain. I was looking for a similar product but more recent, then you mentioned the RONIN 4D and I saw the price 😹 Do you know of a competitor who would have something around 1000 to 2000 euros ? Cheers !
Yeaaa, probably not worth trying to make it work these days with so many other options. For general-use/travel/family videos, the Pocket 3 is incredible. For more professional uses, you'd be better off going with a used mirrorless camera and a smaller DJI gimbal. For example, a Panasonic S5 + 50mm f1.8 + DJI RS3 Mini could all be had for around $1500 or so - if you do some searching.
THE DREAM... Single-handle gimbal, 4D-8k sensor (with OLPF!), l-mount, can take up to 500-grams, 4.5" screen, 3.5mm mic and auto connect to DJI Mic, etc.
Those are some pretty big cons. But, if they can fix those cons then it's a pretty big contender. I'd love to see what they can do with updated technology now. I would definitely think about buying one depending on the price point.
@CurrenSheldon especially if it had the ability to swap some lenses. Obviously smaller styled lenses. Maybe made the same size for gimbal reasons. Canon has done that in their RF line with 3 lenses. I'm sure they could figure it out. Doesn't have to be a crazy amount of options, but 3 or 4 lenses would be cool too.
@@brad_in_yyc Yep - if they could get it up to 500-gram payload (whereas the Ronin 4D is close to 1kg), you could still use the Sigma "i" series, Panasonic's excellent f1.8 series, tons of vintage primes, and the new Thypoch Simera-Cs... and even some of the Cooke SP3s if you pushed the limits a bit... I can dream.
Everyone misses the obvious... All they need to do is produce a handle for the Inspire 3 camera. I was hoping for that from the Ronin 4D and was bummed when it didn't happen that way.
Yea probably so, but I'd much rather have a bigger, professional model you can actually use on real shoots (a baby Ronin 4D). But the Pocket 3 is selling so well, I wouldn't be surprised if they let it ride an extra year or two before a Pocket 4.
"At the time almost no cameras shot internal RAW"...so Blackmagic cameras doesn't count I guess lol. They had 3 cameras that shot internal RAW, ProRes and DNxHD released in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
I'd guess the GH7 is the best you're going to get from MFT. I doubt anyone but Panasonic would even think of making a high-end cinema/video camera in 2025 (though, an updated BGH1 with NDs, XLRs, IBIS, and everything else the GH7 has would be pretty sweet).
@ sure… but it would be an even thinner slice then it is now… and they’ll never risk that! This is happening in every industry! It’s the only way marketing departments can protect their top of the line sales. If they make a solid midrange product, it will cannibalise part of its upper range products. I would buy it for sure and you can see most comments are reacting very positively!! And you can always use a Tilta Alien arm to make up for the 4th axis, when you really need it. Not as efficient as a Ronin 4D, but a lot cheaper and you get a car mount to boot! 😁
Would you buy an updated Osmo Pro Raw if DJI made it in 2025?
An interesting idea would be a set of osmo pockets with native 15mm (rectilinear), 24mm (or 35) and 50mm lenses. All focal lengths with the same aperture and sensor size. I don't think they would do this on a single device, hence a set of Osmo pockets. I would buy that in a heartbeat.
@@PopoRamos Agreed! I'd love a Pocket 4 with a 40-50mm and MFT sensor.
@@CurrenSheldon The MFT sensor would be the icing on the cake! but i would still be happy with a 1 inch sensor
Yessir
I hope they are planning this instead of the rumoured mirrorless standard camera.
Something like the pocket 3 but with the Mavic 3 Pro gimbal i think will work great, at least for travel
Ooh that's a good idea - or whatever the Mavic 4 Pro will be (hopefully Super35 sensor). But a 24mm f2.8 Super35 + a 65-70mm as a second camera would be cool.
I agree! I love the Pocket 3 and I cant afford a 4d for what I do, but I could absolutely see myself buying something in the middle.
YES.
Couldn’t agree more I have pocket 3 and the amazing Ronan 4D with the flex and transmission monitor
But would love some
in between the two
I have worked with DJI and suggested this years ago !
Come on, DJI - make it happen.
I’ve been waiting for DJI to release a larger-sensor camera with better low-light performance and interchangeable lenses-I’d grab that instantly!
This is a must! I never had one but always wanted it
Great video. Truly hope DJI sees this and considers bringing this same concept just enhanced with all of the knowledge they acquired through these passing years. Maybe a DGO version like how the GH7 sensor is with computational processing.
oooooh that would be excellent.

They do need to update it, because this one is not worth the headaches - haha
@@CurrenSheldonDon't worry, DJI will get a ban from the United States government next year like Huawei.
I had the DJI Osmo w/ zenmuse x3.. I loved it..always wanted to upgrade but back then was kinda pricey to me 😅
Loved that camera
This was my dream camera, as quickly as it appeared and was a thing, it disappear quicker and was overpowered by drones, action cameras and other phone turned video cameras.
Yes it was a flash in the pan, but the concept was incredible. Bring it back, DJI!
I still remember the Osmo X3 gimbal! Loved that thing!!! The 4D is a mutation of that Osmo Pro raw.
Haha yes the 4D is an incredibly useful and well-designed camera.

Awesome - Love this! It would be great to have an updated Osmo Pro Raw so I wouldn't have to stick my 4D-8K in places I could put it - haha
I had the first Odom. Loved that camera
An update would be the perfect love child between Osmo Pocket 3 and Dji Ronin 4D.
Agreeeeeed. It would be great for travel gigs or just as a b-cam to the 4D. Though, I may prefer a mirrorless DJI camera.
Yes - We need a Pro version of the Osmo 3.
Yes

I would like to be able to have at least one Osmo Pro 2 with the Xemuse x7 that is lidar compatible.
I've wanted an update to this for so long... Next best thing is the Sigma FP on a small gimbal.

I use a EUC for stability
I would love an updated and smaller version of this.
Cool !
The Pocket 3's success should let them know this form factor is a huge winner. I love my Pocket 3, but I really really want something more telephoto.
Totally - Pocket 3 has CRUSHED, so a semi-pro version for $2-3k I think would do really, really well.
would buy!!😊

If Dji made a new version of this with a full frame sensor and L-mount, I'd buy it immediately.
That’d be a pretty awesome camera.
I still use the original Osmo that was released. Hasn't been an issue with it so I'm not going to bother upgrading it.
You can add a manual focus wheel to the side.
