When you clamp cables you always put the saddle of the clamp on the load side and the hoop on the dead end. Always remember " NEVER SADDLE A DEAD HORSE'.
Yep, I actually paused the video to see if the clamps were installed properly. I've done theater rigging and use the same saying to remember which way to install the clamps.

I’ve done 37yrs of elevator rigging. Believe me when I say “never saddle a dead horse”! The round horse show part of the Crosby’ go on the short “dead” end.
You folks have learned a lot about rigging and adjusting. But now having a "rigger" stop by to make final adjustments is very helpful. They see stuff you don't see yet.
I didn’t realize that you didn’t have a boom on the smaller mast , that makes it a staysail schooner ! I was looking at a staysail schooner made by Cabrini yachts it was a 48’ but we didn’t purchase her . Great sailing boats ! Your sail rig should give you a tremendous amount of ability to adjust and set sails , can’t wait to see her with all the sails up and on a beam reach ! 👍🏻👍🏻
The green trim on the sails is a sacrificial UV protection strip. It should be on the outside of the sail when furled. You need to roll up the sails in the opposite direction or the sail cloth will be degraded from the sun.
Not a sailor here, so excuse me if I use incorrect terminology ... I also am under the impression that the sails are rolled up the wrong way around ... See episode #102 at 00:00:22 : Darker green on the outside and no 'white spot' in the middle ... Like your video's ... nice pass-time ... keep on going with your enthousiasm !
I've been fiddling enough with furling sails and UV-protections to confirm that the sails are now in fact rolled the wrong way around. Luckily, its not a big job to correct it; a bit of a hassle though. You just need to roll the furling line the opposite way around. Another tip for the front sail (no idea what Yaba's sails' correct names are), furl the furling line into the furling drum prior to hoisting the sail. Makes it a lot easier.
Looking good. I did notice you put the cable clamps on wrong. Never saddle a dead horse. Put the round end on the dead side and the saddle on the live end. Can’t wait to see you in full sail. Keep up the good work.
Saddle type clamps can go either way around but good practice to alternate directions. The shackle type clamps have to go as you say so that as load comes on the movement of the wire doesn't unscrew the pin.
The cable that connects the tops of the main and mizzen masts is called a "triatic stay". Having the sails up looks gooood! Can't wait to see the drone footage of Yabá under FULL sail!
The sails for Yaba look absolutely beautiful! You made it look pretty easy, but I envision a couple of crew members in the near future so you can actually enjoy sailing this yacht... Love you folks, you have worked extremely hard, now try to enjoy your dreams! 🤩😍🤩
When you drop something overboard, you can quickly drop the dinghy anchor on the spot before you swing. Saved many wallets, glasses, shoes; and once -very importantly - wine. Admittedly wine may have been why they were lost.
Nice goin Ben, MP an MP's God Dad. That was pretty good. Nice to see Mr. P. N. Guin again. Almost ready to sail. Thats kool. Thanks m8s, really lookin forward to seein Yaba sailing out of the bay.
I've been watching your channel from the beginning you guys have come a long way I'm very happy for you congratulations your journey is almost done Then it will be time to just enjoy enjoy enjoy Best regard Mark.
Hello you two, someone may have already mentioned but you have furled your sails with the UV strip on the inside!! Your Dacron sail will rot out in 3 months with that part exposed. Have fun!!
If I had bet on this actually happening I would have lost a lot of money! It was great to see and the yacht sailing will be even better! Come on next Sunday!
Well over a thousand miles from an ocean and over a mile higher than the sea I've watched from the very first day when Roberta and Duca came to your sinking boat You two should be so proud of yourselves and all the hard work you've done. Through you my dreams are still alive and the joy of seeing the sails put on is priceless. Yaba is a beautiful ship
I bet if the original people that built yaba would be very proud of what you two have did in restoring yaba and I’m also very impressed wish I would have did something like this when I was younger
24:56 The face of a proud and happy lady, and deservedly so! Congratulations to you both and thanks for taking us along on the ride. So nearly there now.
I have followed both of you from the beginning and now I feel so proud for you both. Having the sails up and the effort it took even I was excited to see the results of your faith and labours over the years. Please do not stop the weekly vlog now you are so near sailing off over the horizon. Love you both, love the boat and love to your families who have supported you throughout. Alistair
Good morning favorite UA-cam folks!!! Make sure when you pluck the standing rigging it doesn’t play a “brown note.” 😂 Edit: M.P. Has the prettiest face in the closing shot. What a smile.
have you tried the umbrella trick, basically when you are working above the water hang an open umbrella upside down by its handle under the area you are working, this will then catch anything you drop.
Congratulations on getting your Sails and rigging sorted out. It looks very complex and tiring work but you just keep on going. Keep well and safe. James.
Congratulations! With sails you are free to sail anywhere you want to go. No need for gasoline except in port.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 You have come a very long way since I started watching your videos. A lot of determination there.
The first genoa is furl at the wrong side, the uv protection doesnt protect the sail on that side. Is great see the boat with sails and well rig!!hope to see you sailing soon!!🎉
nice to see the sails up👍 but you guys are furling them the wrong way.... dark green UV protection needs to be outside 😉 even though I like the light green form sail cloth over the uv protection better myself😅, that won't last
Guys, I think you have furled the sails in the wrong direction, the sun/UV protection is on the other side of the sail. Also, your masts are not in line, at first glance it appears that your aft mast (Main) is leaning to the right compared to the foremast. I suggest a measurement from the hounds down, either side and compare. Cheers
Love your videos, cant wait to see Yabá under sail, in the fly around with the drone at the end, the view from the stern showed the rear mast needs to move more to port as it is not true when aligned to the fore mast.
Congrats on rig progress...but please get a pro rigger to check that cable for age and fatigue. You can also get a Loos gauge to check your cable loas versus breaking strength of cable and use that measure to spread the load equally around the hull. Also if you don't run the halyard to its own cleat but inside the furled sail where you can't access when you need it, especially underway, then one day you are going to be very unhappy! Good rigging reference is by Brion Toss digital edition is easy to get...love your voyage! Peter, Pegasus Voyages Berkeley CA
I haven't read all of the comments, so excuse me if I am repeating what others have said, but you put the some of the wire rope clamps on backwards. The saddle side (as opposed to the U-bolt side) should always be on the "live" line that is taking the load. As the saying goes, "Never saddle a dead horse". I love your podcast and have been watching since you started redoing Yaba.
We are almost there mates. Won't be long before we are sailing this beautiful world to new and great adventures and wonderful memories ❤...Love you guys are be careful always.
Ben & MP Yaba is so beautiful with her sails up. I loved this episode because now you can truly be free with this restored vessel. I know there is a lot of work left to do however the next steps will be easier 🤞😊
When you clamp cables you always put the saddle of the clamp on the load side and the hoop on the dead end. Always remember " NEVER SADDLE A DEAD HORSE'.
Took the words right outa my keyboard!
Yep, I actually paused the video to see if the clamps were installed properly. I've done theater rigging and use the same saying to remember which way to install the clamps.
5 hours late! Never saddle a dead horse 1 out of three correct. 33% fail!

I'm glad someone else realized the cable clamps were wrong . Never saddle a dead horse . Once you know it you never forget it.
Amazing work, Yama looks fantastic with her sails, much love The Senior Confessor, England xx
“Tight and Perfect” is not what it means to tune rigging. I would not want to be on Yaba in big seas and a gale.
MP looked great in that blue and white striped shirt 🌹. Very appropriate for a sailor ❤😊
The green trim on the sails is a sacrificial UV protection strip. It should be on the outside of the sail when furled. You need to roll up the sails in the opposite direction or the sail cloth will be degraded from the sun.
You are correct in theory, it is hard to tell from the video if you are correct in practise definitely something important to check though.
@@TheBeaker59 it was clearly furled opposite from the flashback clips, and on a big screen tv it is clear to me they are incorrect.
I had the same impression. It looks that it's backwards.
The green stripe is a UV protection for the sail when it's furled ✌️
Not a sailor here, so excuse me if I use incorrect terminology ...
I also am under the impression that the sails are rolled up the wrong way around ...

Did he fix the mistake ?
Saddle type clamps can go either way around but good practice to alternate directions. The shackle type clamps have to go as you say so that as load comes on the movement of the wire doesn't unscrew the pin.
yeh haw Sail Time YAH!!!!!!!!!!!! Right on Got to feel good, Congrats!!!!!!!
Nice to see the sails again!
@25:12 It looks like at least one mast is not plumb...👴😉
Sweet been waiting for the sails to go up yaba is looking great.
Congrats guys!!
Can’t wait to see her under sail! ⛵️💪👍👏

you two are putting a lot of sanity back into this troubled world, well done for that,x
My world isn’t troubled . Only when listening to the news makes it seem troubled . Trouble equals money to the media .
Interesting main sail rigging. Looks simple and easy. Great work.
What a special day.
INDEED!!
As Roberta would say: "... F I N N A L L Y Y Y Y Y Y!!!
Cheers from Argentina.
Yay! She's a sailboat again! 🕺🎉
Thanks for making Sunday morning the best time of the week, four years. Take your time!
Agreed don't rush it now Cheers n beers Marty Australia

Well done! Only two "literally'''s in , I think, five episodes! That's epic!!
That is a beautiful sight ❤🎉
Love, love, love! She looks beautiful!❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️😎
Less in storage and in final place. That is excellent
That boat is impressive ❤
Immagine that sails on a sail boat. They even go with the Yaba's new paint job. Keep being awesome team.
24:56 The face of a proud and happy lady, and deservedly so! Congratulations to you both and thanks for taking us along on the ride. So nearly there now.
Wow wow wow good job
Yaba is looking so proud with her sails & rigging coming together . MP & Ben you're getting closer everyday to becoming cruisers !
Wow. Great job. Amazing
love yaba. Fair winds, Following Sea's

Great job I'm jealous hopefully my day will come soon enough.❤
Awesome Day Great Job 😊
Love it! Especially the very ending with MP where I think I can detect the beginning of what it's going to feel like when this is all done. 🙂
Oh my goodness that is fantastic to get the sails installed. I know I am going to cry when they are hoisted for your first sail with them. ⛵️ ❤
Congratulations! With sails you are free to sail anywhere you want to go. No need for gasoline except in port.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 You have come a very long way since I started watching your videos. A lot of determination there.
Little Penguin heard how you guys adopted the 2 boat yard dogs and is hoping you'll take him in too ( for the free fish of course ) 😹😸😹
Nice repurpose of the Bonus shopping bag!
The closing scene taken from the drone was the icing on the cake. Wonderful. Last but by nomeans least wll be a video of YABA under full sail. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟❤
Awesome work guys
The first genoa is furl at the wrong side, the uv protection doesnt protect the sail on that side. Is great see the boat with sails and well rig!!hope to see you sailing soon!!🎉
nice to see the sails up👍 but you guys are furling them the wrong way.... dark green UV protection needs to be outside 😉
even though I like the light green form sail cloth over the uv protection better myself😅, that won't last
Yaba is doing along very well… so happy for you and all the people who helped… ❤
Nice work 👏
Yaba is going to look so "Rakish" on the move. Just beautiful. 😊
Il momento di alzare le vele e navigare è sempre più vicino ❤❤
Yaba looks so much better and the sails are not even unfurled yet.
Guys, I think you have furled the sails in the wrong direction, the sun/UV protection is on the other side of the sail. It's exciting to see sails going on Yaba. She's almost ready, you must be super excited🎉.
👍👌👏 Only one episode away from sailing! Congratulations 🎉
Best regards luck and especially health to all involved people and dogs.

One hard working couple. I admire your dedication!

the wrapper with the cord of the base roll and the cord attached to the voile déroule the voile is ingenious.
A big step forward. Congratulations.
Ben & MP Yaba is so beautiful with her sails up. I loved this episode because now you can truly be free with this restored vessel. I know there is a lot of work left to do however the next steps will be easier 🤞😊
