That’s the show… just a ton of personal discussions and arguments right in front of EVERYONE. I think the town and family are just super used to it. And luckily they’re all pretty close so even doing this in the middle of a wedding was somehow tolerable for them.
At the moment of first watching it it was a important drama scene with all emotions pouring out between two young man trying to deal with life changes. They were BOTH upset about this day, it was emotional, they both knew that it was a big milestone that was gonna change their friendship, Topanga was officially entering Cory's life and they knew that as his wife, Topanga was always gonna come first, Topanga was gonna be his new best friend. And Cory was refusing to talk about the fact that they weren't gonna be as close as they used to be. Cory didn't want Shawn to go and Cory and Shawn are best friends to say the least. They know exactly what gets under each others skin, and all their insecurities. Not for nothing but Shawn has always been a bit of a hypocrite to me. When Shawn decided he wanted to marry Katy in girls meet world, he stated that he didn't need Cory's blessings but just looking back at cory and topanga's wedding, Shawn made sure cory had to have his.
Nah, I don't know if I'd call it hypocritical exactly... or at least, if it is, it was only because of the difference in circumstances. It was never *actually* about Shawn wanting a say in whether Cory and Topanga got married (heck, he was their #1 biggest supporter and was saying they should be together forever waaay before the actual wedding! haha), and both Cory and Topanga knew that. This altercation was just about Shawn knowing that Cory being officially married was inherently going to change things with their friendship. It was the start of their true adult lives, where they would each go on to have their own families and lives and, though they would always remain great, great friends, they would never be able to be quite the same "inseparable dynamic duo" again. And he was angry because Cory was doing everything he could to not talk about it or address the fact that it was a huge change in their lives and friendship. He mostly just wanted to talk it out before such a big change actually happened. By the time Shawn was getting married in GMW, they already WERE adults, living their individual adult lives (while of course still remaining amazing friends). So there just wasn't much in the way of things that they would need to talk about... it wasn't really changing anything in their relationship, and if anything it was only an awesome step for them as friends because it means Shawn will be around a lot more regularly! So it was just a totally different situation :)

Not for nothing but Shawn has always been a bit of a hypocrite to me. When Shawn decided he wanted to marry Katy in girls meet world, he stated that he didn't need Cory's blessings but just looking back at cory and topanga's wedding, Shawn made sure cory had to have his.

Nah, I don't know if I'd call it hypocritical exactly... or at least, if it is, it was only because of the difference in circumstances. It was never *actually* about Shawn wanting a say in whether Cory and Topanga got married (heck, he was their #1 biggest supporter and was saying they should be together forever waaay before the actual wedding! haha), and both Cory and Topanga knew that.
This altercation was just about Shawn knowing that Cory being officially married was inherently going to change things with their friendship. It was the start of their true adult lives, where they would each go on to have their own families and lives and, though they would always remain great, great friends, they would never be able to be quite the same "inseparable dynamic duo" again. And he was angry because Cory was doing everything he could to not talk about it or address the fact that it was a huge change in their lives and friendship. He mostly just wanted to talk it out before such a big change actually happened.
By the time Shawn was getting married in GMW, they already WERE adults, living their individual adult lives (while of course still remaining amazing friends). So there just wasn't much in the way of things that they would need to talk about... it wasn't really changing anything in their relationship, and if anything it was only an awesome step for them as friends because it means Shawn will be around a lot more regularly! So it was just a totally different situation :)
