Starting with my real dad when I was Little who took me out of Foster care and threw me In a group home which made me resent him for a long time . So what he went through hits home . I know exactly what it’s like to feel unwanted . Even the whole thing with my mom being an alcaholic . Been sober for 27 years .

I have no family my mother used to make up stories every time we get into an argument she would tell my brothers that I threatened her life, I never knew that until my brother called me to ask me what my problem was and said how many times my mother called him to say that I threatened her or call her some Wicked ugly names oh, that was totally a lie I'm blessed I have four godchildren and out of the four I'm close to two of them other than that I'm pretty much alone, You're not the only one that has no family, the day my father died I cursed at God for taking him instead of her. This is just life honestly. People go through crap all the time. Shawn had a hard life but he grew up into a really good person I think. I grew up with this show and Girl Meets World was nowhere near as real as this. I loved this show then and I love it now
Yeah Shawn represents so many of us that feel abandoned and unwanted . I know that feeling all too well . My dad threw me in a group home when I was 9 years old and took my sister . Didn’t want a thing to do with me . I grew up resenting him for a long time . But after a while I just said “I’m done”
GMW could have been a lot better if it wasn't strictly Disney if it was on another network like BMW it would have done better but it had to be all fluffy for disney
I like BMW way more than GMW, but to be fair, alot of the heavier topics and most of the scenes here were in later seasons once the characters had a chance to grow and mature. GMW was canceled before they were able to make it that far.
And Shawn's life just doesn't feel complete now without the Girl Meets World stuff. He took every lesson he had to learn the hard way and tried to make the right choices. And when he met a small version of himself, he took some time figuring it out but he wanted to be the kind of role model he needed as a kid. And he got himself a wife while he was at it- maybe not quite the same kind of relationship as he had with Angela, but they both wanted someone who would stay instead of leave and who wanted to be a good parent for Maya. It is a bit cheesy with the 'missing pieces to make him complete' idea, but his whole life was leading him to be exactly the kind of person he needed someone else to be for him and to have the answers that he didn't get until it was too late.
@Isha Shifar I think they did try but he decided to stay with his brother, which I thought was silly as it would have been better for Shawn in the long run to stay with the Matthews as a real part of the family.
Recently been rewatching Boy meets world and Full House as an adult. Kids nowadays would benefit greatly from watching these shows. It's incredible the tough subjects they touch on like these. An entire generation is missing out.
I really wished Shawn and Angela had ended up together I really liked then even more so then Cory and Topanga, I thought they did fit well together so I feel like they did them dirty
for most people some would say cory is the main character of this in that we relate to him the most. but in all honesty he may have gone through some tough life lessons, but Shawn never got married, Shawn never had a perfect relationship with his brother or father, he never had a proper home to stay in, and the only people who actually looked after him for most of his life were people who weren't even related to him. and I think it's great writing to show that cory is the person that we aspire to be in the place of, and Shawn is the person that brings us back to reality and tells us that not everything works out for everyone. but despite everything that happens, remaining strong and sticking by the people who really care about you is what matters most, weather they're your blood or not.
The part that hit me the most was when he was saying that he never had any parents- and right after to “stop whining” I know what that’s like. To feel pain but to feel like you don’t deserve to complain or be sad. To hate yourself because your so pathetic honestly whoever wrote that part was incredibly talented
I don’t think I realized how great of an actor Shawn was until now. I got so wrapped up in Cory, Topanga and Eric’s antics that I missed what Shawn was going through. He deserves an award man.
Man watching this made me feel so sad for Shawn it’s like he had the whole weight of the world on his shoulders if it wasn’t for Cory, Mr. Feeny, Cory’s parents and Mr. Turner I feel he would of really fell into the Abyss and never would of come back from it I was really happy when he realized the support system he had and he can go to them for anything
The dramedy of all dramedies lol. They did right with this show:) I grew up on this show! The 70’s, 80’s & 90’s was all about what was genuine. Now all we see is stupid stuff on Disney. Preteens are being deprived of good television.
Shawn was one of those characters that life couldn't wait to stomp on. Every time something good happened to him, something worse came along on its heels.
This did a good job of showing how some people are more prone to alcohol addiction than others. Cory didn't have much reaction but Shaun goes full blown alcoholic
The time line unrealistic though. He went from never drinking a drop to full blown alcoholic in a week. And Topanga was a little witch in that one. Cory wasn't actually that bad at the party, she was just upset he was out having fun and might possibly move on instead of at home, crying and pining for her.
I feel so bad for Shawn... All the actors really played their part well, and I love how the characters grew as the seasons went on (and maybe even the episodes too) Shawn must've carried the weight of the world on his back without anyone realizing or without anyone really knowing how he was being affected. I'm glad it worked out a little for him though in the end. And all the characters got what they needed (and maybe wanted/needed as well)
I see A LOT of myself in this dude , this character is someone that understands me 100% , i never knew my father at any point of my life and I'm currently in my 20s and I've haven't been able to keep a relationship for no longer than 6 months , and push friends away because of my paranoia and mental health issues and abandonment issues , SHAWN HUNTER IS ME! And that's what makes this show so relatable that i was afraid to watch it for a hot minute because i didn't want to see a reflection of myself on a TV screen , this show saved my life , because Shawn hunter was a character that is literally me and I'm still going through it but it gets easier to understand and remember that there are people who deal with the same struggles as me
Growing up I liked this show. As an adult, I can appreciate it more. Allen and Amy were a team! You see them disagree as a couple and work it out. They respected and cared for each other. They loved their kids, gave consequences to them as needed, you see them mess up as parents sometimes too! Shawn and Cory...an unlikely match but something that Shawn desperately needed for what that character went through in life! Cory's family became his family and while I think you could see the friendship made the parents uneasy sometimes, they let it be and supported the boys. People made mistakes and you saw them take accountability for those mistakes. I live how the inter racial relationship of Angela and Shawn wasn't even really a thing. I'm so basic white girl, and it didn't really occur to me how different Angla and Shawn were on that! I think that was the best way to normalize it, by not even really addressing it. Great show and love that the episodes are found on Disney plus now!
The amount of effort and hard work Rider Strong put into his character Shawn makes him one of the best actors in my opinion. His character was so relatable in so many ways. He's Such a talented actor.
We all know that Shawn was shown as ‘rebellious’ and a sort of ‘kinda popular’ type, but the pain this boy actually went through breaks my heart. He had a rough home life and he just wanted someone to properly love him :( not to mention he was also just mainly sweet.

I allways just remember how dark Shawn's part of the show was. Also that "it's like I'm watching myself do these things I hate and I can't stop them" so called out and dark. I do love how this show called out fucked up shit instead of sweeping it under the rug.
I have to say growing up watching this series they put that boy through 9 kinds of hell. And he is an incredible actor
i wish we got to meet shawn's birth mom
She does make an appearance I don’t remember what season or episode but his mom does make an appearance
@@nikki__0354 no, that was virna or something we find out in the last season that she wasnt his real mom and his birth mom took off when he was born
She was a stripper so I don’t think she really had time when she was getting her stacks
@@Yembo22 ohhh yess I remember that’s true my bad
@@zoeyhughes4877 that episode was depressing . Dude bounced back from all the hardships of life then they thrown this curveball . But it just proved that he was able to recovered because he has a strong support system like his half brother ,the Matthews , Feeney, and Angela
The handful of episodes I've seen of this show were quite good. I liked how involved the teachers were in these kid's lives.
That’s rare
Shawn best character
How did the writers write all this and not cry ? I would’ve been tearing up like crazy 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
All over that paper 😂😂😭
They probably did. I've sobbed like a baby while writing
Rider did an amazing job playing Shawn over the years! He’s an amazing actor ❤
I know what Shawn is going through . I faced abandonment issues my whole life . Starting with my real dad when I was Little who took me out of Foster care and threw me In a group home which made me resent him for a long time . So what he went through hits home . I know exactly what it’s like to feel unwanted . Even the whole thing with my mom being an alcaholic . Been sober for 27 years .
🥺 I'm really sorry you went through that, but like Shawn I hope you find someone who loves you (cause Shawn found love like Angela) and also people/friends who will never leave you and always have your back.❤
@@anesiphoradasi4346 I lost a good Majority of my friends since COVID started . All I got is My Facebook friends and family .
You're not alone my father died quite a few years back I was left with the wicked witch, my mother and I never got along because she favors my pedophile brother, his friends repeatedly attacked me to try to have their way and when I fought back I was punished from my mother because those are his only friends he has, I've tried taking my life it led me into therapy the first therapist helped, yes I said first out of three.
I have no family my mother used to make up stories every time we get into an argument she would tell my brothers that I threatened her life, I never knew that until my brother called me to ask me what my problem was and said how many times my mother called him to say that I threatened her or call her some Wicked ugly names oh, that was totally a lie
I'm blessed I have four godchildren and out of the four I'm close to two of them other than that I'm pretty much alone,
You're not the only one that has no family, the day my father died I cursed at God for taking him instead of her.
Bless you man
It's not until you are an adult and you look back on this show and realize how profound it was and how deep it was!
I remember as a little kid choking back tears so I think many of us always knew!
I turned 17 today, but I understood it when I was 16, so I guess you don't have to be an adult to get it.
Nah it definitely touched me back then in a weird way, I liked Shawn because he as cute but also freaked me out a bit.
Na I'm 12 watched it when I was 11 understood everything in this show then again I'm pretty beyond my age
@@RapFanatic4ever Yes he does represent that. Awe I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I hope you're doing ok now.
@@lraeb2007 thank you . Yeah I’m fine
@@RapFanatic4ever Aww no problem. I'm glad you're ok. I can't even imagine something like that happening to me.
Rider is such an amazing actor. Ever since he was 12 he never made me think it was just acting it felt so real.
I've never watched this show but I am 4 minutes in and I would protect this Shawn guy with my life
Same-
Exactly
Saddest moment in the show was Shawn seeing his own father dying in the hospital. Brings tears to my eyes whenever I rewatch all the episodes.
Boy Meets World is way better than Girl Meets World
Duhhh
I think GMW was limited by it being directly on the Disney Channel. I still enjoyed it a lot though.
GMW could have been a lot better if it wasn't strictly Disney if it was on another network like BMW it would have done better but it had to be all fluffy for disney
Duhh boy meets world wasn’t watered down and direct for 12 and under ppl
I like BMW way more than GMW, but to be fair, alot of the heavier topics and most of the scenes here were in later seasons once the characters had a chance to grow and mature. GMW was canceled before they were able to make it that far.
5:15-5:51 that hit home . My mom was an alcaholic. Been sober for 27 years so this is emotional for me
I am so sorry
@@notwerkinginthishouse8634 Thank you
That's so sad. I'm so sorry.
I don't think I've seen a relationship/friendship with boys/men like Corey and Shawn since this show. They had a lot of growing pains together.
Honestly just pretend GMW is filler and non canon
I always wanted Cory's parents to adopt him! I think that was one place where the show dropped the ball.
@Isha Shifar I think they did try but he decided to stay with his brother, which I thought was silly as it would have been better for Shawn in the long run to stay with the Matthews as a real part of the family.
@@sbaker8787 I think she meant that they tried to but he preferred to stay with Mr. Turner who in turn also tried to adopt him later.
Recently been rewatching Boy meets world and Full House as an adult. Kids nowadays would benefit greatly from watching these shows. It's incredible the tough subjects they touch on like these. An entire generation is missing out.
True I’m 14 and those shows were great and taught me lots of things
I can relate to Shawn. My Mom was an alcoholic my entire childhood. My siblings and I had it rough but this show always brought us comfort
9:56 that voice breaking about to cry is so realistic and sad 😢
Rewatching this, I’m realizing just how depressed Shawn was and it breaks my heart.
4:25 I love how the students are just minding their business while Shawn is going off. Wish people were actually like that in real life lmao
It's crazy how I haven't seen this show in years, and this video has me crying like a baby
Best thing about these shows was that they actually showed characters as less than perfect, and very dynamic characters
Corey’s dad saying (I’ll be your father.) so heart warming he was always there for him 😢
This did a good job of showing how some people are more prone to alcohol addiction than others.
And all the characters got what they needed (and maybe wanted/needed as well)
This just shows that in real life some of us just carry more burdens. Others simply won’t understand I related to Shawn a lot.
I'm glad I grew up on tv shows like this. They had real lessons.
And that's what makes this show so relatable that i was afraid to watch it for a hot minute because i didn't want to see a reflection of myself on a TV screen , this show saved my life , because Shawn hunter was a character that is literally me and I'm still going through it but it gets easier to understand and remember that there are people who deal with the same struggles as me
Mr. Turner motorcycle accident was such an impactful episode and an incredible cliffhanger. . . And then we never hear about him ever again 😂 😂
Poor Shawn he deserves better 💕
He does 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It so heartbreaking that Chet lied to Shawn once again and that he told Alan he was going to go away once he got out of the hospital
We all know that Shawn was shown as ‘rebellious’ and a sort of ‘kinda popular’ type, but the pain this boy actually went through breaks my heart. He had a rough home life and he just wanted someone to properly love him :( not to mention he was also just mainly sweet.
He should have won a emmy
Ikr
I feel he and Ben Savage both should of they executed their roles very well and really made their characters very believable
Yeah
Yeah he's good
Maya had it pretty easy compared to what Shawn went through.
Although I don't think maya necessarily had it easy, I agree that Shawn went through way than she did
Mya didn’t go through shit frl but having bad grades😑

@@lovelycece2383 I get it.
Rider Strong should have received an Emmy or a Golden Globe for his work in this series. He played the part of a weighted, unsettled teenager so superbly that one could actually wonder whether some of his role is based on actual life…
I had forgotten about these till now. Poor Shawn. At least he found happiness eventually with Maya and Katie.
This show made me believe and know their is love no matter what color
Yep so true
Shawn's character really was more than just the bad boy or the ladies man his character and cory's characters being how they're best friends they really show that you dont have to be blood to be family or to have people care about you.
Boy meets world is easily one of the best tv shows ive ever seen. It goes from full comedy to soap opra sad, without ever overdoing it. It just felt so... Real
This show dealt with some really tough issues in some pretty real ways.
By far the best actors on the show are Shawn and Eric. So many emotional scenes are them pouring their hearts out.
bruh I would've totally gotten my life together for Angela!
she's gorgeous AND faithful?
She's a diamond!
He was definitely the glue that held this show up
When it came to the drama 🎭 and realistically ideals I related to Shawn the most!
Now I remember where I learned to stick up to my kids. I was raised by a single father with 3 siblings and it takes a lot of courage sometimes to keep your kids with you divorce, poverty unresolved emotional issues take a toll on single parents.

This video hit me hard... So many of the same emotions I felt growing be portrayed by one person...
this is amazing tysm
"I'm just tired of feeling like a guest wherever I go" 😒😔
Shaun has made me cry several times
Oh, and to the writers... take a chill pill with Shaun!!!!
Shawn having the saddest moments in the show is so crazy 😮
