8:52 "we tried to develop a personality test that isn't designed to make you feel good about yourself." Scored in the 98 percentile of Neuroticism... mission accomplished definitely don't feel good about myself now
@Lee Collins i wrote this comment while immediately after taking the test so i wasn't in the best mind state tbh. Scoring high in Neuroticism just means you are more likely to feel negative emotions. But it's your choice how you react when you feel these emotions. Just take a deep breathe when you feel this and think it over before reacting.
Mine basically called me a piece of shit Like genuinely 3rd percentile on Conscientiousness, 11th on extraversion, 7th on agreeableness, and 70 something on neuroticism. And I’m like, well I did a free one that scored me quite high on openness, at least that should come through for me as my… 54th percentile, bang average So I worry a lot, have no drive, people don’t like me, and I probably wouldn’t even make for a good tortured artist (I’m being a little facetious, it can all be worked to your advantage I know)
@@thatsamuellu intellect isn’t IQ, it explains that. It’s just more “are you interested in asking existential questions and having theoretical conversations” you can be highly intelligent but only interested in applying your brain power to practical, tangible things
Man. I greatly appreciate how straight forward the test was. It didn’t pull any punches, and there was basically zero fluff and psychobabble to make me feel good about myself. All the other personality tests on the market generally just tell you how wonderful and unique you are, instead of helping you identify the flaws and vices you might have. I scored pretty well, at least as I might define well, on most categories except for conscientiousness. It’s good to see it written out for me, and to see just how apathetic I am to work compared to other people. Definitely going to recommend this to others, thank you Dr. Peterson
Agreeableness: 87 - compassion 81 - politeness 85 Conscientiousness: 59 - industriousness 18 - orderliness 90 Extraversion: 80 - enthusiasm 92 - assertiveness 52 Neuroticism 31 - withdrawal 72 - volatility 7 Openness to experience: 80 - intellect 82 - openness 69 and I'm a man. Well, helps me explain why I am extremely sensitive to small perturbations in my immediate social environment. Let me tell you it can be quite exhausting. But at the same time I am usually too high on living to really notice, so I shouldn't really complain!
I recently had a rather intense conversation with someone. They mentioned the need to "change the world" several times. Each time they did I thought of Dr Peterson.
Dburnage you know smiling, the actual physical act of smiling triggers the release of the same neurochemicals we associate with being "happy". Your pessimism is seemingly poisoning your perspective & you come of as rather paranoid & dramatic. When a Paranoid Schizophrenic is saying that to you... perhaps reflection is in order? "it's an attempt to lock humanity up in a dark room to push the buttons and pull the levers of a social hierarchy." $9 & 95 voluntary ¢ at a time ey? :P Calm down!
Dburnage Would you rather have Peterson's tests lie in your face by telling you "you can be anything you want!"? It's like a card game, and Peterson is helping you to see what cards you have so you can play smarter.
"When a Paranoid Schizophrenic is saying that to you... perhaps reflection is in order?" I'm the Paranoid Schizophrenic in that equation slick :P I didn't "undermine" your statement. I didn't "suggest" anything & you aren't nearly as astute as you imagine yourself to be. I clearly stated that I consider your post representative of a rather dramatic & paranoid bent... & I, being a Paranoid Schizophrenic, am of the mind that you must really be in bad shape if you seem paranoid & dramatic even to me. "insisting" ??? I've spoken to you a grand total of ONE times prior to this. What the fuck are you on about? I'll say it again, calm the fuck down. You're going to hurt yourself! Goofball! :P Your fixation on vocabulary betrays your lack of substance. Stop. No one is being "manipulative" either. I've been rather harsh & blunt, actually. When one is attempting to manipulate, it generally involves deception on some level. My cards are on the table. I simply want you to take stock of how silly you appear to some of us who are reading this puffed up, unsolicited criticism of a man *MUCH* greater than yourself. TL, DR "It must stink up there! Isn't it hot?"
A note to anyone thinking of doing the UnderstandMyself test: don't be *too* self-critical. I did the test and it was only after I got back extreme numbers that I realised I had been rather harsh on myself. Just try to be realistic and balanced in your self-assessment :)
I had a similar outcome. I did not realize how negatively skewed my self-assessment was until I saw the results. Carnage! Good test though. I like how detailed it is. Thanks, Dr. Peterson for all your great work! Much appreciated.
Oh god yes. I just finished the test and I ended up with 2 in Conscientiousness. while I agree with all other traits, I really hope it indeed is because I was too harsh on myself.
I understand your reasoning behind only allowing a single test per person. I hope that you might find a way for people to take it several times over the course of several years, perhaps in the form of a downloadable form that will not affect your numbers, particularly when overcoming addictions and habits to see actual changes in personality through adversity and hardship. My personal reasoning is that I recently overcame an eight year, severe drug addiction, am currently in the process of quitting nicotine, and would like to see a change in how I see myself and my personality from now, to 6 months from now, and so on. Thank you.
You can do the IPIP-NEO, which is quite an extensive 300-item test, for free. It's also based on the big five but breaks the traits down somewhat differently into 6 subdomains. You can find it on google.
A huge problem i see is that mainly human mind is so that if you do the same questions again you will propably unknowingly lie in the direction that benefits the kind of change you want to see in yourself. Then if you ask those questions in other ways then they don't excatly measure the same thing.
I was thinking may happen even in first time taking test, lying to your self and others; because wanting to be some type of person. ( like eastwood ) Then other thing is there is also huge effect on society and programming how you should be and act.. 3. How can you answer if you are lost and dont know your self yet. I lets say individuation process is not happened. 4. can it be that some who score high in neuroticm are just losing in this point in life and then there is also brokeness if there is abuse and beating in life, real you is not manifesting. Then in the after when your wounds are healed completely different person emerges. And when you have tools to manage in life.
It would be easy for them to only use your first take for their normalization and ignore the later ones. Then people could be allowed to retake it at their own responsibility for biases and a less valid result. This would imo be the most fair option considering one has paid for it.
Scored in the 0th percentile for agreeableness. I now understand why I have very few friends and see everyone as competition. Great stuff love it Dr. Peterson. Thank you for the help to sort myself.
One thing that might help: make it a habit to think hard about something you could do for someone else once a week (and, of course, make it a habit to do it). That way you can expand your personality. You could retain the utility of being competitive and straightforward and tough but leaven it with some learned compassion. There is evidence, by the way, that such exercises improve the quality of life for people who do them.
This reminds me of the Boy Scouts directive of "do a good turn daily." Just keep an eye out and it will be easy to see a small way to make life a little better for a stranger or someone you know.
Just took the test and I don’t think I’ve read anything in life that has made me that uncomfortable. I scored a 10 in conscientiousness. I turned 36 in 2 days. Time to reinvent myself-I’ve done a lot to start in the past few months: quit smoking weed, got a 40 hour a week job (been a gigging musician for years and moderately successful, but it hasn’t turned me into the man I want to be), and been a lot more responsible. Thank you for this, Jordan.
I got a 10 in conscientiousness as well which shocked me because I always work, I care deeply about working hard, that I do my work correctly and I'm a rule follower....... but I'm also a procrastinator, I'm always late and I'm a daydreamer that would rather be on the beach. 😂 So, I guess it's not too far off base.
I took the test and am 99th in neuroticism, withdrawal and volatility. 1st in conscientiousness, industriousness and enthusiasm. Basically the worst scores in the good stuff and the best scores in the bad stuff. So if you want to feel better about yourself I’ll send you my pdf. Pretty confronting.
I am a chronic pain/migraine sufferer whose high school education and socialisation process has suffered consequently. I had immense political interest and ideational curiosity, which subsequently brought me to you. I am cooperating with a psychologist whom I have shared your work with and was astonished to find other patients had been influenced by your work. Your hardship has brought me great relief, and will continue to do so. Thank you Jordan
Saggersaurus Watering regularly, like 1ounce water per 2lbs body weight per day - drinked in glasses, not all at time. Whats specific - add salt ( not iodized, but digged, unaltered from mine), as much till you almost feel the salty taste.
My grandfather was a child psychologist at the Menninger clinic for 20+ years, and made a major departure from psychoanalytic conventions of the time when he started focusing on the importance of the individual in the context of the family (a dimension that was not considered important by many of his colleagues at that time). He was ahead of his time in his thinking, and died before he could really flesh out his psychoanalytic theories in private practice towards the end of his life. I believe he would have found the work you are doing as extremely valuable and interesting.
Yes, the sovereignty of the family unit seems to be protected far more than the individuals contained within. Been thinking about how to access that sacred place in the name of accountability and education.
Most people cant afford private psychologists. Giving this for such affordable price is an amazing bless for people. I cant even weight the value given on the large scale but i know this gift is unvaluable. Warmest thanks for dr peterson and associates. I hope your enterprise skyrockets beyond any possible odds🔥
This man is adding so much value. I also like his honest marketing..... I might do the same next time I sell my online course. Peterson doesn't even need to convince me.... I'm already convinced after so many videos. I'm sure it will $10 well spent
Seu canal é muito bom tbm! Sou fã do marketing honesto, vendemos isso porque acreditamos é muito melhor que a idéia de que é vender por vender e enriquecer.
0th percentile for industriousness. If you were one of 100 people in a room, you would be less industrious than 99 of them and more industrious than 0 of them.
This is something i'll pay for without question. Not only is JP providing us with worldview shattering information, he's also equipping us with the tools to help us navigate this space as well!
Talk of Today I mean, is he? There are many tests measuring the same things that are free... I feel as though it's not the slightest bit worth paying for. I could be wrong, though.
I've taken both free tests and the one Jordan Peterson is talking about here and I definitely feel this one is better. The other tests had some questions that were hard to answer accurately as they were really two questions. Like do you make plans and stick to them. I make plans but don't stick to them so there's no way to answer that question. Also, this particular test uses slightly different sub facets for each trait and I feel they are more accurate.
Yeah's a fair enough response. I trust JP substantially due to the quality of his content and academic qualifications. From what I know of the others, they don't delve into the aspects, you're provided info on where you lie on the range of each personality trait.
I got very extreme results. While taking the test, my method was to come up with a recent anecdote and then rate my behavior in light of the phrase. The insight into how different scoring people think about my scores was interesting.
I just completed the Big 5 Personality Assessment Dr. Peterson is mentioning here. It is an excellent program, in that it was very easy to complete, and I found my results to be fascinating , and clearly explained. Many, many thanks to Dr. Peterson and his team. By the way, a few months ago I did the Self Authoring Program, and got some great results from that, too.
One of the greatest men to ever live. Thank you Dr Peterson for everything you do. You have changed my life and inspired all of my friends. Thank you thank you
This test can be brutal, like looking in a mirror showing you all the things about you that you don't like and don't want to admit to, as well as the good. I've read over my report several times now, gradually taking new things in each time and understanding how each thing manifests itself. It certainly opens you up if you embrace it. I love how it doesn't try to paint you as a character like a lot of other tests. It just sticks to cold facts and hides nothing, you then do most of the work in profiling yourself and learning your strengths and weaknesses.
I came up as 98th percentile on Disagreeableness. I can relate... The only reason I'm not a career criminal and/or in jail is because I am actually fairly compassionate, and a Christian, therefore I have morals. But, do I hate damn bullshit rules like Driver and Motor Vehicle Registration and Masks, Municipal Regulations and so on? HELL YEAH!!! I am a Reincarnated Notorious Pirate and Highwayman, BTW, so that probably explains it...
My problem was being 4th percentile in politeness, 13th in enthusiasm and 95th in assertiveness 😂. Mean, negative, and in your face 🤦🏻♂️ and I thought I was a nice guy lol
Thank you for doing this. Took the test.... Not happy with the results, but the feeling of knowing myself a lot more is an amazing feeling. I feel a little more control in my life with this knowledge. Thank you again.
I'm humbly grateful for the Internet, the power of knowledge and the power to "Know thyself" is the power of the INDIVIDUAL. Thank you JP for your overwhelming contribution to the power of the individual.
I have had to play this numerous amounts of time because the advice, thoughts and processes of understanding oneself here is so profound to me. I’d like to thank Jordan, from his lectures on personality, to help me understand the world around me, to know it is not an all good all innocent place. Myself, the shadow that can be denied by the self quite passively and Concepts and such with an incredible insight into the individual that has helped me attempt to turn my life around from the brink of chaos and disorder. Just to throw a sort of life-line even. And I hope he continues dishing out content, as it is so useful, and can literally save someone’s life. Like mine. Thank you JP.
I took this personality assessment, it helped me understand myself better and understand the remarks O have been hearing for many years from the members of my family. I highly recommend this to those who want to understand themselves better and wants to know where to start working on themselves for a transformational journey that everyone needs to take. Thanks a lot for working on this program that really helped me understand ourselves. More power to you and your work Dr. JBP.
The test completely called me out. Good. It found my issues and brought them to my attention. Some I was aware of. The best part was that it gave me the solution. I found the gap in my practices from the last few years. I over looked it and now it’s shockingly clear just what was going on with my psyche. Thank you. An absolute gut check.
Thank you Dr Peterson. For everything. You're the most positive role model and your dedication, along with your selflessness, has had a massive positive impact on my life and many more.
I took the new personality test and I was surprised with some of my results. It really helped bring to light some faults I didn't know I had in relation to others and I was able to make adjustments to my Present Authoring segments. I'm happy I took the test.
My sincerest thanks, Jordan, for everything you’ve done. Your work has changed my perspective on many things over roughly the last year and those things have grouped together to improve my mental health radically.
For the last five years I've been giving vouchers out to my friends to help them understand themselves and their spouses. On occasion it demoralizes a person but I always encourage and remind them that once they center on their virtues and their faults, they can identify where their major weaknesses are and get to work.
I actually bought this twice. A little over a year ago I took the Big 5 test, and then recently after having massive changes in my worldview post psychedelics. Some huge changes, as I expected, but it was still nice to see some confirmation that it wasn't all in my head. Thank you for offering this, Dr. Peterson.
Thank you for providing this as it will be a fantastic opportunity for insight and growth. I genuinely believe that JP is one of the Greats (for lack of a better term) of our generation and I have gained several tools in my exploration and "cleaning up my room" process. Much appreciated!
Thank you to everyone who worked on this and have given us another opportunity to get some interesting insights about ourselves. I have taken the test and have some thoughts and wonder if there's anyone here who would care to think along and perhaps help me out. My results: Agreeableness - 94 Compassion - 95 Politeness - 85 Conscientiousness - 66 Industriousness - 44 Orderliness - 80 Extraversion - 16 Enthusiasm - 13 Assertiveness - 26 Neuroticism - 31 Withdrawal - 72 Volatility - 7 Openness to Experience- 99 Intellect - 97 Openness - 97 My extraversion and enthusiasm are particularly low and I have come to think of it as that I don't really love people as much as I would like to think I do. It makes me feel bad. And on the other hand a part of me feels that I very much do love them, the compassion score might reflect that. The ones who I do let close soon discover my deep warmth for them and my closest tell me it is like a flood. This is how I feel inside myself - I sometimes want to flood people with my warmth. I also work with people on a daily basis and have a lot of interest in the human mind. I sometimes feel like my compassion is very detached though, despite my work involving helping others directly. Additionally, I think I treat people like books - extremely interesting books to look into but not make friends with. It confuses people around me a lot, especially new ones. I can cheerily introduce myself to someone only to ask a few very enthusiastic questions, make them feel like they are indeed very interesting to me, and then disappear and never care for having them as friends. I have been feeling really guilty about this an this is the bit I'm not sure how to approach. I do this to friends as well. I wish them all the best with all my heart and help out whenever I am able, but I don't want to be around them so much. There are very few people with whom I find communicating continually engaging. Also, the extreme agreeableness score: I am able to look at things from very many angles and if needed look at a situation from the standpoint of everyone involved and this makes it very difficult to express my true opinion, which I, despite understanding everyone, still do have. In my head I am quite opinionated, have very clear views but struggle to say them out loud. What is the best way to learn to do it more/better? My gratitude to anyone who cares to share any thoughts.
Dragonaut So kind of you to care and answer, I really appreciate. You have given me some food for thought, especially regarding the anxiousness and withdrawal. And thanks for the recommendation. All the best to you.
This is interesting, especially because I somewhat do the same: I can show a lot of interest (and actually be interested) in someone and after talking and doing things I can easily just forget this person. Well, this is not the case for my partner and two best friends of mine but otherwise it is. Since english is not my prefered language I try to make it short and easy: Maybe you are nice to people so they can feel good and make the best of themselves. Maybe it gives you a good feeling. But there is a but: But you know all this is not actually easy. It is easy to make ,mistakes' though. Being long enough around someone makes it easier for your "bad-me" to come out and spread chaos or whatever disease. Your solution: Be your best as long as you can around people. If cannot be the best anymore run away and recharge your social-battery. I hope you know what I mean.
I would also add that this sort of perspective on a personality could be useful for further developing a fictional character in the storymaking process. Once you have a relatable character's defining experiences and reactions to them, these traits--originally designed to explain an existing personality--can also define an imaginary personality meaningfully. That will, I think, make it easier (for more orderly writers) to consider how their creations will react to totally novel situations.
I am low intellect and industriousness. I am not a fan of doing complex tasks and have a hard time with self discipline. I sort of knew these things about myself, but I wanted to take this test to see how I ranged in the big 5 (instead of just assuming what I might be). I wanted to measure if I am how I see myself, which shows I am honest with myself for the most part, at least. But I know I need work and the personality test helped push me a step further into self-improvement. I have been wandering for a purpose and I have finally committed to This goal instead of viewing it as a side quest. My own self, productivity, and future are important enough for my full attention. I plan to use the self authoring programs in the future as well. Thank you for everything Mr. Peterson.
Looking forward to the Self Authoring Program I did mine yesterday and it was extremely accurate - I had to fight back tears of relief as I read the results because for the first time in my life, how I feel was put in to words. I now have an better understanding of myself and can now make a plan and document my goals. I look forward to seeing you in September in New Zealand.
Thank you, for this personality test and the self authoring suite. I ordered both, for myself and a friend. One of us is 51,& one of us is 26; we’re certain both will help us.
CapnCrinklepants thanks for that, it seems a perfectly apt way to describe humans- there is so much contained within us we are like oceans. And it’s interesting to note that Buddhists call this life Samsara which means ocean of suffering. Also, your acronym makes it easier to remember the groups💐
I think that was on purpose (Jordan has noted it before as 'OCEAN', it's how you remember the traits, I suppose). I never use such methods, myself, I just directly remember the items themselves (or forget them).
Jordan - thank you for creating this for the world and for not pretending this wasn’t a promotional video. But I must say, it was at least one of the most educational promotional videos I’ve ever seen. Fantastic and best synthesis of the Big Five I’ve ever heard. Hats off to you professor! Thank u sir!
Dr Peterson keeps raising the bar and I pray his intellectual and personal goals are acknowledged. He is providing a program that anyone who wants personal awareness of ‘the self ‘ is easily available and at a very minimum cost. The program should be applied in high schools and repeated when in further education to measure growth, or just for the hell of it, to be aware of yourself. I am amazed at Dr Peterson’s quest to inform, educate, and influence with tools for a better society. He’s goal in my opinion is very benevolent even if it is taxing for him. I support his quest “to make a difference” and contribute at great efforts to help ourselves with what he is offering, a great opportunity for growth.
I feel like this test nailed me quite accurately I reckon (even though the conscientious level is a truth I wished wasnt true Im at least glad i found it out) I see a trend happening here fellas: Agreeableness 68%, Compassion 85%, Politeness 38% Conscientiousness 6%, Industriousness 8%, Orderliness 9% Extraversion 88%, Enthusiasm 79%, Assertiveness 88% Neuroticism 18%, Withdrawal 15%, Volatility 25% Openness to Experience 80%, Intellect 96%, Openness 38% All of us are incredibly low in conscientiousness. Maybe its people like us that are so attracted to what JP has to say.. to get our acts together and actually do something with our lives, roughly speaking :P
I did the test and I was surprised by some of the result but after some reflection it was pretty accurate. I think the aphorism "Know thyself" is appropriate. Thanks Dr.Peterson ! Here are my scores: Agreeableness - 17 Compassion - 55 Politeness - 3 Conscientiousness - 45 Industriousness - 73 Orderliness - 20 Extraversion - 80 Enthusiasm - 75 Assertiveness - 77 Neuroticism - 36 Withdrawal - 36 Volatility - 38 Openness to Experience- 98 Intellect - 96 Openness - 96
I purchased the test yesterday and completed it immediately, curious to see my results. Some of what I saw confirmed what I already consciously knew of myself, and still more revealed what perhaps I already knew on some level, yet was too uncomfortable to face. Specifically, I found I am moderately low in conscientiousness. This result actually explains a lot of my life experience thus far, me being a person who flits from project to project, excited for what each one could become but never having the commitment to see them through to the end. In fact I was beginning to worry that I'd be like this forever, and would never amount to much, being learned in everything yet accomplished in nothing. Seeing this result has eased my mind greatly, for now I know that this behaviour of mine doesn't mean I am defective in any way, but is just a result of my human personality, explicable by our modern science of understanding our minds. I also know that I am not doomed to this fate, that we can expand the range of our own traits and become fuller, more effective people. I think Mr. Peterson described that as the development of wisdom. Thank you Jordan Peterson, and keep up the good work. It's important for all of us.
Learning so much from the test results. Very insightful and interesting. Good advice about taking test away from distractions etc to get accurate results.
@@jovemmagal7624 you have to put it in perspective with your other traits. I also got a low score which made me confused by just looking at the percentile. But after reading into the explanation and putting it side by side with my other percentiles I totally get where its coming from.
I'm a 47yr old man and an alcoholic. I think I have come to realize that I was not put on this earth to be a drunk. Maybe I was but I think not.. I have not drank in 2 weeks now and I feel great! I truly believe that Jordan Peterson has saved my life. I want to be a human being and salvage the life I have left
I think even Jung would find it rather odd/cool that this guy, dabbling in the same field as himself, has a very similar name to his. Given some of Jung's beliefs, I don't know them all, he might think this was some kind of reincarnation-loop within the collective unconscious and how it studies itself.
What a refreshing initial disclaimer to receive, where we the audience are properly informed on the reality and intentions of the video to come before committing our time, so that that we can choose whether to exit at the beginning or not... Personally I bailed out instantly, thought about it a sec and then hit back, clicked 'like' and wrote this... Peterson, you legendhead, you are a trailblazer for authenticity.
I did the test, there were a couple of things that were highlighted which made the test worthwhile. The results of the test are most powerful when it analyses how various traits interact with one another. E.g., being less assertive, more agreeable and more compassionate will mean you are less likely to negotiate with your boss at work so you will end up with a lower salary. Highlighting all of the various combinations like this would be really valuable. One criticism I have however was the lack of detail in the questions which tended to make the test confusing. There were a lot of times I thought "the answer to that question really depends on X or Y, if it is X then I agree, if it is Y I tend to disagree", so I would just pick the middle of the road as I was uncertain what was actually being asked. Overall it was good though, I recommend it. Even if you get a few things from the test it is enough to justify the time and expenditure. Knowing what your strengths and flaws are could help change your life.
I mean, I definitely don’t consider myself someone who gets excited very easily or at all, so it must be correct. I’m at least polite and I consider that endearing enough
Just did it. I like the way the usual 5 are split, but my orderliness results seemed dubious. My result is 1, but my apartment is pretty clean, my bookshelf is organized by subject, my hard drive is organized, I have a steady job, I never miss appointments, I rarely cancel plans with people. I like personality theory but I’m sometimes perplexed that it mostly seems to study peoples’ sentiments, not their actions. For instance, there were questions asking if I was annoyed by clutter (no, not really) but no questions asking if I stand people up or let dishes pile up in my sink (never!). I would say I'm a 'naturally' messy person has developed a healthy amount of order due to discipline (which I would say is a virtue, not a personality trait). Maybe the test just needs more questions if you're going to try and measure 10 traits?
A tentative suggestion for Dr Peterson: perhaps you could design a way for people to retake the personality test later on without it going into the pool of responses from which the research results and relative scores are derived? It would be really helpful for people to be able to retake the test after some time to see if they've been able to develop as a person, and that needn't affect the integrity of the test's results! :)
Conor McCammon I'm actually registered to a site that does this. You take a test every certain period of time to see the changes in your personality and attachment style. I like that idea a lot
Zuby Music You should be careful that your low neuroticism does not inflate your ego/lead to self-deception. Make sure that you actually are conscientious and open, don't forget to be critical of yourself. Best of Luck! Edit: checked out your channel, I probably told you something you are aware of already :)
Im going to get sober after a lifetime of boozing. This will be instrumental in that new dawn. I should probably balk a few days before attempting in earnest, as Im trying to return my dopaminergic baseline to a more tonic state. Regardless, thank you for everything you and your team and associates have created here. Way to add value to society!
I have gotten the self authoring suite. It is intimidating with the number of faults I need to work on. I am 48 years old. I need to go get the understand myself assessment before I continue. This could take the rest of my life to rectify Lol but the consequences of no action are indeed dire. Thank you Dr. Peterson and Team for your dedication to researching what really works. If you believe in prayer, please pray that some force will compel me to follow through with these commitments.
A journey through a big five assessment results page, Agreeableness 68 Compassion 85 Politeness 38 Sure this makes sense not a ton of surprises, oh look the Conscientiousness section is next, I tend to procrastinate a bit so it'll probably be a little low, oh well. Conscientiousness 0 Industriousness 0 Orderliness 0 Oh... fuck. Extraversion 16 Enthusiasm 3 Assertiveness 52 Well they're not 0 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Neuroticism 99 Withdrawal 99 Volatility 99 Openness to experience 97 Intellect 92 Openness 92 This test has given me profound insights on the ways in which I interface with reality relative to others. I can take this information and apply it in novel ways to radically transform my life in previously unimaginable ways, but probably won't, and will find it reaaaaaaally hard to do so. Ya know maybe this is why I've read everything Joseph Campbell has ever written, own three different translations of The Epic of Gilgamesh, and can't hold down a steady job for shit, huh.
I didn't take the test but your results would be pretty much exact to mine. Hello there fellow sufferer who enjoys basically nothing but to talk about abstract concepts and ideas also too lazy to do anything for a long period of time other than having bursts of energy for 2 weeks full of grinding and hardwork on something that you know get bored about after that 2 weeks.
I did the test. English is not my mother tongue, but I think I had no problem in understanding the assessment's questions, with a couple of dictionary checks. I had some food, no interruptions, I took my time to answer the most honestly I could. I also could not pause my chronic anxiety and mild depression, so I'll take it in account with the results. No big surprises there. But anyway it's really interesting to see them charted in a 5 dimensions net. I'm 50, biologist who got a late PhD in Biotechnologies, who's been working as programmer for the last 10 y; definitely not a career seeker. I feel I can understand how my major traits of very high agreeableness, extremely high neuroticism, moderately low conscientiousness, moderately high extraversion, extremely high openness to experience picture the mess I'm in. But I feel good looking at the chart...

Mine basically called me a piece of shit
Like genuinely 3rd percentile on Conscientiousness, 11th on extraversion, 7th on agreeableness, and 70 something on neuroticism. And I’m like, well I did a free one that scored me quite high on openness, at least that should come through for me as my… 54th percentile, bang average
So I worry a lot, have no drive, people don’t like me, and I probably wouldn’t even make for a good tortured artist
(I’m being a little facetious, it can all be worked to your advantage I know)

Peterson

Sorting the world one individual at a time. You and your team are a beacon of light Dr. Peterson
Roughly speaking.
"it's an attempt to lock humanity up in a dark room to push the buttons and pull the levers of a social hierarchy."
$9 & 95 voluntary ¢ at a time ey? :P
Calm down!
Dburnage Would you rather have Peterson's tests lie in your face by telling you "you can be anything you want!"?
It's like a card game, and Peterson is helping you to see what cards you have so you can play smarter.
"When a Paranoid Schizophrenic is saying that to you... perhaps reflection is in order?"
I'm the Paranoid Schizophrenic in that equation slick :P
I didn't "undermine" your statement.
Goofball! :P
Your fixation on vocabulary betrays your lack of substance.
That's good advice, in general: treat yourself fairly. It's a moral necessity. You're not yours to torture or denigrate. No more so than anyone else.
Jordan B Peterson couldn't have put it better. Thanks for all the work you do
I had a similar outcome.
IGull my conscientiousness score was really harsh too 😂
I understand your reasoning behind only allowing a single test per person.
Matthew Kincaid my hero, great work, keep it up!
I was thinking may happen even in first time taking test, lying to your self and others; because wanting to be some type of person. ( like eastwood )
Then other thing is there is also huge effect on society and programming how you should be and act..
"Free speech it's the mechanism that keeps people of different types speaking instead of fighting"

*+Jordan B Peterson* If it's not already the case, I think that these advices you are giving in the comments should be included in the test results.

That weird because most people I heard had very weird scoring. There could be something wrong with the test.
You’re amazing Jordan. Thank you for everything that you do.

Also, this particular test uses slightly different sub facets for each trait and I feel they are more accurate.
agreed!
Yeah's a fair enough response. I trust JP substantially due to the quality of his content and academic qualifications. From what I know of the others, they don't delve into the aspects, you're provided info on where you lie on the range of each personality trait.

I highly recommend this to those who want to understand themselves better and wants to know where to start working on themselves for a transformational journey that everyone needs to take.
Thanks a lot for working on this program that really helped me understand ourselves. More power to you and your work Dr. JBP.
My family agrees completely with my assessment.

I took the test this morning. It is 'spot-on' for my personality. Thanks, Mr. Peterson.
I bought it, very humbling and thought provoking after reading all the information on my personality traits. Well worth it.
I took the new personality test and I was surprised with some of my results. It really helped bring to light some faults I didn't know I had in relation to others and I was able to make adjustments to my Present Authoring segments. I'm happy I took the test.
Glad to hear it. An acknowledged fault is half rectified. Truly.
💥Just took the test!💥
I'm full of extreme contractions.
... contradictions...? 😄

Neuroticism - 31

My extraversion and enthusiasm are particularly low and I have come to think of it as that I don't really love people as much as I would like to think I do.
Since english is not my prefered language I try to make it short and easy:
Maybe you are nice to people so they can feel good and make the best of themselves.

Peterson.

Looking forward to the Self Authoring Program

I now have an better understanding of myself and can now make a plan and document my goals.
I look forward to seeing you in September in New Zealand.

Just wanted to point out that the Big 5 spell out OCEAN. That's likely obvious but a neat coincidence.
CapnCrinklepants thanks for that, it seems a perfectly apt way to describe humans- there is so much contained within us we are like oceans. And it’s interesting to note that Buddhists call this life Samsara which means ocean of suffering. Also, your acronym makes it easier to remember the groups💐

Nice, many canoe cruising one ocean.
This is the best comment reply I’ve ever seen, love it
I think that was on purpose (Jordan has noted it before as 'OCEAN', it's how you remember the traits, I suppose). I never use such methods, myself, I just directly remember the items themselves (or forget them).
Im pretty sure thats how it was designed

I feel like this test nailed me quite accurately I reckon (even though the conscientious level is a truth I wished wasnt true Im at least glad i found it out)
I see a trend happening here fellas:
Agreeableness 68%, Compassion 85%, Politeness 38%
Conscientiousness 6%, Industriousness 8%, Orderliness 9%
Extraversion 88%, Enthusiasm 79%, Assertiveness 88%
Neuroticism 18%, Withdrawal 15%, Volatility 25%

All of us are incredibly low in conscientiousness. Maybe its people like us that are so attracted to what JP has to say.. to get our acts together and actually do something with our lives, roughly speaking :P
Java Monkey I hope that 3 on Enthusiasm is a typo, otherwise being around you would be like a fist full of 'ludes.
You got me in "hi everyone so". I'm in!
I did the test and I was surprised by some of the result but after some reflection it was pretty accurate. I think the aphorism "Know thyself" is appropriate. Thanks Dr.Peterson ! Here are my scores:
Agreeableness - 17

I love how "unconscientious" is represented by The Dude!
Yesh man 🤙
that movie is very evil, just keep abyinding as they say in the movie....
why should that movie be evil?
I’d argue it’s also low neuroticism.
@@Test-zn9rs what do u mean?
Learning so much from the test results. Very insightful and interesting. Good advice about taking test away from distractions etc to get accurate results.
Intellect : exceptionally low.
yeah that can't be right. Where can I get a new personality?
I feel confused with this aspect
@@jovemmagal7624 you have to put it in perspective with your other traits. I also got a low score which made me confused by just looking at the percentile. But after reading into the explanation and putting it side by side with my other percentiles I totally get where its coming from.
Thank you so much for being such a bright light. It really helps navigate the darkness 🙏 thank you Mr Peterson, you are greatly appreciated
Get ready to sort our selves out fellow buckos!
My wife and I did it. We had a wonderful conversation afterwards! Thanks for your work.
His name is C.G. DeYoung? As in, extremely close, to C.G.Jung? What are the chances??
Synchronicity. The chances are higher than you might think.
I think even Jung would find it rather odd/cool that this guy, dabbling in the same field as himself, has a very similar name to his. Given some of Jung's beliefs, I don't know them all, he might think this was some kind of reincarnation-loop within the collective unconscious and how it studies itself.
Maybe Jordan started consciously or unconsciously working with him bcause of his name
Bilingual bonus: They even mean the same thing: Jung is German for Young!
Harakashi Cite me some papers on those claims.
Mr. JBP, you are the Steve Jobs of your speciality. Please, keep doing what you're doing. Thank you for existing.
I scored a ZERO on Enthusiasm... I think I just found out the source of my weirdness lol
Lol, can you work on it?
I mean, I definitely don’t consider myself someone who gets excited very easily or at all, so it must be correct. I’m at least polite and I consider that endearing enough
Larry David would be proud
Me too! so, what can we do about that?
I scored 6 on Conscientiousness.. But i have 97 in openness, 88 in compassion and 16 in politeness xD
Okay. Tonight is not the night for me to do this. It's good advice not to do it when hungry or tired, and I am definitely tired.
If I could just stop procrastinating and take the damn programs.
Maybe I'm just too afraid?
Thank you always JP. You make the world a better place.
I bought it before finishing the video, did not regret one bit. Thank you Dr.Peterson.
What about your industriousness?
Interesting point you raised, because if there is a difference in peoples sentiments and their actions, the reality is always in their actions.
@Conor McCammon
Just make a new account later on.
Conor McCammon I'm actually registered to a site that does this. You take a test every certain period of time to see the changes in your personality and attachment style. I like that idea a lot

You should be careful that your low neuroticism does not inflate your ego/lead to self-deception. Make sure that you actually are conscientious and open, don't forget to be critical of yourself.
Best of Luck!

Whats your read on me?
Im going to get sober after a lifetime of boozing. This will be instrumental in that new dawn. I should probably balk a few days before attempting in earnest, as Im trying to return my dopaminergic baseline to a more tonic state. Regardless, thank you for everything you and your team and associates have created here. Way to add value to society!
thats right: I liked my own comment!
I have gotten the self authoring suite. It is intimidating with the number of faults I need to work on. I am 48 years old. I need to go get the understand myself assessment before I continue. This could take the rest of my life to rectify
Lol but the consequences of no action are indeed dire. Thank you Dr. Peterson and Team for your dedication to researching what really works. If you believe in prayer, please pray that some force will compel me to follow through with these commitments.
Learned more from this one test than 35 years of other personality tests. Thank you for making this broadly available. And at a great price.

This test has given me profound insights on the ways in which I interface with reality relative to others.
These comments are ridiculously entertaining... I haven’t yet taken the test because I’m busy just scrolling and laffing. People are so endearing 😂🥰
Now I feel I know which node has to be pulled out (orderliness) and which other I'd push down (agreableness) ... this is my two-sided battle plan to try reducing both the neuroticism aspects, which are really freezing my existence. Thank you so much Dr. Peterson (and all collaborators) !

I just bought this, and it must be accurate-all my wife did was nod her head and say things like, "yeah, no kidding," or, "I could have told you that for $10."
Regardless, well worth it, fun, and interesting. Great work, and thanks!
Thank you Dr. Peterson...you are truly a godsend.
