This is why I use ice storm with range for high difficulty games if I run cryo. Enemies are packed in >haz5 so you get to hit 50% more enemies with it and can reach the ceiling in a lot of caves for spitters. And you actually kill the enemies instead of just leaving a mess for the rest of your team to clean up while not losing the benefit of dealing easily with praetorians and oppressors with cold radiance. Scales down to haz 5 fine once you learn when to let go of the trigger and where to wait for enemies to conga-line into you.
good test! the only thing I would say is that a high freeze build, like tuned cooler, you would never want to continue firing after the target freezes. every time you freeze it there is a chance for it to die from fragile, this doesnt really effect its performance against grunts or slashers but fighting guards like this greatly reduces how much ammo you have to waste to kill them. I think the high freeze + fragile builds are more viable than whats shown here because of this
question why does it look like the health bar will suddenly lose a massive chunk after some time under the cannon's spray? it goes like, tick tick tick tick tick CHONK tick tick dead is that how fragile works? i was under the impression that it just imparts a random chance targets will die after being frozen like swarmers
Yup, that's fragile. It's supposed to kill them instantly via doing damage equal to their remaining HP, but it doesn't actually do that because it's(probably unintentionally?) affected by the damage resistance scaling applied to all enemies based on hazard level. On haz 5, all enemies have at least 20% global damage resistance, so they're left barely alive instead of instantly killed.
That's a good idea. I'm also planning on doing timing tests with M1K builds at clearing grunt groups, but I'll probably do that first to have cryo info done first.
I run it on a loadout and it destroys everything but requires constant attention because it eats ammo and overheats easily if you apply pressure too long (which usually only happens if I get greedy/desperate fighting a dread, oppressor or bulk). But. I like it, a lot. Also it can freeze most bugs faster than you'd think.
@@user-xn1xd4mg4j Yeah I've played with this build a bit, 500 ammo is too low for my likings. I wish LazyMaybe would test this build to confirm or deny my expectations of it being meh xD I forgot to add that the build I've been using has the flow rate mod, I should probably test it without flow rate to get more value out of radiance.
@@CubeBizz flow rate definitely helps the freeze time, I guess I'm not sure how much it really impacts cold radiance. I've also tried taking the extra ammo over damage mod for this same build, but I haven't taken the time to mess around with it enough to say if it's worth it. At least on paper this build looks similar to a simple CRSPR but with more ammo and the utility of cryo. Ice storm should make up for the damage mod once you proc freeze.
I couldn't call it meh though. The damage is insane. Solo exterminations with the build you mentioned are very fun. I forgot to mention the biggest flaw for me is that bugs die too fast to vampire effectively but huge swarms also don't reliably freeze fast enough. So I'll play around without the damage mod some more, might be a better balance.
@@user-xn1xd4mg4j oh yeah, grunts die before you can drill them, only guards and sometimes slashers will stay alive after freezing anyway, I decided to try something crazy and I played couple of games with 31112 the +1 freeze mod gives you the same freezing time as flow rate mod, but you save a significant amount of ammo of course you can't hold the trigger down as long because you lose the pressure drop mod in t1, but the pressure gain mod helps you not overheat basically you'll have to burst fire when fighting swarms, but that's fine because after radiance procs every grunt type is basically dead already praetorians get frozen long before overheating and you're gonna axe those anyway so you're not holding down your cryo trigger, oppressors also get frozen before overheating this build requires better pressure control because you can't hold your mouse button down for as long, but when you let go you get pressure back fast so far I've like this build because it's a little more ammo efficient, but the tradeoff is higher pressure drop rate I'll have to test more after xmas

Do you run ammo or range in two?
Wonderful scientific work! This answers so many questions!

@@LazyMaybe why do fragile gotta keep being done dirty
Grunts freeze at -30, so on Icestorm, t1 freezing power can remove a shot required to freeze.
The trick is to use CC for fodder and then finish frozen tough guys with your secondary thermal guns
Good stuff! great analysis
Wooo really good video! Thanks
Would be nice to see how 10 freezing works on Praitorians and Mactera vs going damage since those units are harder to freeze

fantastic
What about ice storm + radiance + damage? (+ flow rate)
