- In this video I show you my method for drilling out a lock. It is a very simple brute force method for getting into a locked door with out the key.

I am heading out to do this for a rental that one of my tenants left in just like you. They left the key but low and behold it didn’t work 😮. All the other videos that came up were “60 seconds no problem “! Thanks for showing the real side.
You are welcome Dave I still do this just often enough to forget how to do it. But start with the smallest bit and gradually get bigger that’s been the best tip I can give just did one last week
Story of my life..... Great video... thank you.
I used to drill out locks for lockouts & lost key lock changes. Now I just pick the locks with my locksmith tools, lock guns, and shims. Lock picking is much faster, and non-destructive on everything except for Kwikset Smart Locks. But since Smart Locks cost $100 a set they are almost never on a rent house. Usually just Home Depot Defiants, Lowe's Gatehouses, Walmart Brinks, and regular Kwicksets which never take me more than a couple of minutes to pick; sometimes less than 10 seconds (with my $44 eBay Chinese lock pick gun).
-
Also, lockpicking is a great sport and easy to study, and practice, with all of the lock picking videos on UA-cam.
-
Tom I watch lock picking lawyer and Bosnian bill all the time. I have in the past really wanted to get into picking but just haven’t taken the time to learn. I will need to check out that lock picking gun what do I need to search for that?
@@TOOLMANTIMSWORKSHOP - Yes! I learned a lot from Bosnian and the Lawyer too. I've found that lock picking rakes, and a set of homemade lock picks (that I made from Chinese "jiggle keys") work the best and the fastest for me.

The price has gone up to $52 since I bought mine.
The gun, and a tension tool, are the first tooIs that I reach for when I approach a lock.
_
I used to save locks that I have changed out and practice on them. At one time, I had a whole 5 gallon bucket of old practice locks.
-
Now-a-days, I don't have to practice anymore. It's like riding a bicycle. There are not a lot of secrets to rent house quality locks, Mainly just "false sets" and lock cylinders installed upside down.
-
Schlege brand locks are a little tougher (off set keyways), but they are also expensive and I only find them on a few older (1970's) built rent homes. Schlege's usually have to be picked one driver pin at a time with a short hook, and they take time.
.
Tom thanks, I am going to get one of those guns. I also have a rubber aid full of locks that I have salvaged on properties I needed to change the locks out but still had the key. I will practice on them

That great. You will enjoy lock sport, I am sure. I contract with three different property management corporations with a total of 627 rent houses here in central Oklahoma. (I've already done two emergency work orders already today).

Here is a report I turned in on one of the calls today. A new move-in on Friday. You probably can relate...

More on...
Lockpicking- It is also a great skill when I know I don't have to drive to a corporate office to get a key, and I can get non-destructive entry, pretty much guaranteed. It saves me time and money.
Not to mention, the property managers pretty much give me all of their lock business because of my locksmith skill.

For some reason I didn’t get notifications on your last two comment weird. But I laughed when you included the desperately needed part I have been there many times. There is seriously always work in property management as people are always moving in and moving out.
