When I first used it there was a plastic smell- I heated it up and made a throw away waffle first- didn't notice the smell after that- hope that helps!

It's Too Small ! .... You need to make 2 Waffles for a snack and 4 for a meal ... that's cooking 4 separate times for one to eat ... and 8 times for two ... Spend the extra $20 and buy a proper full sized one that can feed a family ! ..... I wouldn't recommend .....

while you're eating one, the other one is cooking. Bedides, I think it is desined for one person and I think ideal for kids living in a dorm. They do hzvr tge waffle maker 4 waffles. My sons family uses it.
