honestly a 10... it had great visuals, thought-provoking dialogue, powerful metaphors and charismatic actors in it

This was literally the worst Egyptian style movie ever made.
11 for me. I freaking loved this movie. It never tried to be serious, it was just good clean fun.

you could've noticed it from the first sentence he spoke. "Normally when a bird lands on my ship, I kill it before it can shit" - both the phrase itself and the actor's mimics and mannerisms SCREAM of Barbossa
The plastic rap on the mattress makes this scene so authentic

this was cool... i always thought this movie looked corny but Geoffrey Rush and the visuals knocked this sequence out of the park
Geoffrey Rush is an absolute gem! Every movie he's in benefits from it.
Yeah, they went _hard_ on this part of it. Rush went deep into Shakespearean acting mode.
I love the possessiveness with which he talks about the earth. "My creation"
But he did create it. 🙄

I know this movie gets a lot of hate, but it's a favorite of mine.
It's quite a different take on ancient mythology we really haven't seen before.

To think I laughed at this movie CGI now that we are getting sub par VFX work. The effects in this movie look decent comparing it to nowadays.
So much going on. Plastic mattress, flat earth, apophis is all mighty but a few bursts pushes him away?
apophis is easy to push away, Apep on the other hand is chaos itself and remember it an eternal battle...also the title is wrong apep/apophis is NOT 'night itself' that is Nyx i n greece, or Kek/Keket in egypt

Love how ancient egyptians believed the earth was round, because they were the first civilisation to fundamentally prove it thousands of years ago, but clearly since they existed before christopher columbus, the first person to believe the round earth of course, they thought they lived on a disk!

So, each night, Chaos tries to eat all of creation because it is hungry. And Ra chases him off.
The fact that some people here fall over themselves to call out the "plastic" sheets which in their experience can't possibly be anything else (in actuality obviously meant to reference the discovery of silk as having been present and treated a luxury good associated with the divine in ancient Egypt), really tells you something about the type of people who can't seem to let go of bashing this movie years later.
