The strangest and most intriquing design choice was making the gods actual gods but making everything about them look technological. It makes it look like they have divine powers, but still have to build them the same as we have to to harness the powers we can work with.

Could be a lotr “you may call it magic” kinda deal where they aren’t really gods but they’re not human either because their technology is so many worlds apart from mortal knowledge

Seth lost because he fought in an aerial battle with Horus. A dog that wish to fly will never win against an eagle that rule the sky.

Yes, but he was also a god of the desert. You could argue that his aspect of storm came from sand storms, which I imagine would be more common than thunder storms in ancient Egypt.
Set is a donkey not a wolf but close than a wolf.
@@Garyu.Uchiha Actually the animal that Set is represented by was never clearly identified. It could have been a Wild dog, Donkey, Hyena, Jackel, Antelope, Giraffe, Fox, or any number of things. Eventually Egyptologists referred to it as the Set Animal or Sha.
I have to admit, the visuals in this film are pretty cool. I just wish it was in the service of a better overall plot.

He is a god, not a human, so a little bit of sand and germs in the eye is gonna be fine.

In mythology, set was the one who helped repel the serpent of chaos, so I didn't like the fact that he was actively helping it in the movie.

Yeah, Set may be a god of chaos and destruction, but he's not a fan of Apophis. Set still wants to be king, and if Apophis is allowed to destroy everything, he won't have any kingdom left to rule.

Only the primordial gods could decide what the world would be. The gods that came after the world was made were beholden to what was done to it by their parents

the beast that devours everything has so little pain tolerance to few small fireball, the gods keeping it either doesn't have enough power to kill it or is keeping it as a pet.
In the original myth (or at least the version I heard), Apophis is chasing Ra across the sky each day, and each night Ra and the other gods launch a counterattack and slay him, chopping him into pieces to make sure he stays down. However, Apophis reassembles himself at dawn, and the chase begins again. I think there is a version where Apophis is permanently killed, but the only god who is able to do so is Ra's daughter, Bastet.

Why this movie got bad reviews? The CGI and actors were good.
Lotta people were pissy about it being whitewashed.
Forgetting that Egyptian actors that are american box office draws are extremely rare (if they even exist).

Its like if I made a movie of Japanese gods and turned them mexican.
There's some cultural references that IMO should be respected provided the actors want those positions and are good actors.
If you can't get the right talent for movie roles then just dont make the movie

If only people understood the masterful way they visualized the metaphorein of Horus/set . They’d love this film a lot more. But it’s sad . Common sense isn’t so common

Great movie. The people going "BOO HOO This isn't how Egyption mythology was!" are the same people complaining that 300 isn't historically accurate.
It's a popcorn and Coke movie, and it excels doing that.
It's just a great fun and enjoyable movie and doesn't try to be anything else.

Also those same people have no complaints about Zeus being played by a black guy even though i love Lance Riddick may he RIP.

This film, like Green Lantern, got an unfair bad rap. It's actually a very cool movie. The problem is, if you don't find Egyptian or mythology interesting at all you wont like it, because you won't understand it. NOT because it's a bad film.
Saw adds for this movie and got interested… for a second… then I saw all those white actors playing the main roles… A Scandinavian playing a brown Gods. I decided then and there (just like the last Moises) that I would watch this after it was free. What slap in the face of any one who hey knows even a little bit of history.. forget all brown people in the world! They knew what they where doing and they did it anyway.

This movie si dumb. I would have rather seen something true to life. Not like the egyptian pantheon is lacking in interest by itself in and of itself.
I don't get why people complained about the casting choices, ancient Egyptians were not black, and were not semitic, they were in fact closer to modern europeans, mummies are blond ffs, makes sense their gods and blond and blue eyed.
