Cool idea. Another method is to use white fabric first aid tape or paper tape and using alcohol inks or even stamping a pattern onto the tape to decorate it. Sharpies would be perfect if you want to write words or draw doodles. There’s no need to immerse in water, scrape off paper and in most cases, it isn’t necessary to add more adhesive. In truth, you’re likely to want to reduce the adhesive a bit.You can reduce the tackiness by sticking the dry tape to your skin a few times. If you go too far, you can use an adhesive roller to reapply adhesive but the tape won’t be moveable like real washi tape. An alternative but pricier option is to use the kind of adhesive that is low tack and formulated to be movable.
Beckie, thanks so much for sharing this! I made a mini book with Clementine and made a mistake, I was saying to myself, I need wash tape to cover this up! Now I cam have it match, YAY!!
This is awesome! I love it. I never want to buy washi tape because I don't think I will use the full roll. I don't want all of my projects looking the same. So this is perfect for making just what you need!
Great tutorial! Thank you. I made some tape today and it is amazing how it works. It is nice to use the same papers in the project for the tape. I used the tape runner to adhere it to the project.
Thanks for sharing a great and easy way to make washitape 🤩 It's not a lot of different types of washi to choose from here in Norway But now I can make my own 🥰
I love the idea of this technique! But will regular school glue can adhere the washi tape? I am quite cheap... So I dont usually buy those adhesive because I felt it is expensive and I dont do craft that much to buy it.
Hi Beckie! I'm wondering if I could use a non-flat or slightly rough surfaced paper for eg. embossed or glitter paper? And does this technique work on a normal tape as well? Btw this is such a great tutorial.. TYFS!! :)
Because this paper is double sided, and thicker, would it work to put the scotch tape on both sides, and then pull them apart from the middle after they've been in the water? I would think it might work, because each side has patterns, but the middle is still just plain white...
Print a a pattern, cut out a strip of the pattern, then cover the front with tape, then soak it in water for about 6 hours. After that rub off the paper and now you have decorated washi tape
Puppylover023 Queen of the world You need to use some type of adhesive to attach to you the paper once you have made the washi tape. I used a double sided adhesive called Tombow but you can use any type of glue or tape that won't show through.
Hey great vid but you kept saying transparent but transparent means u can see all the easy through what I think you mean is translucent im(I'm not trying to be rude at all ) but thanks this video helps alot
transparent is when u can transfer one thing to something else like for instence making a transparent shirt use transparent paper then u can peel it of and it sticks on the shirt thts the same thing with washi tape

No its not transparent means u can c all da way through it
2 things, first of all you don't need to mention your products and merchandise every 5 seconds and second all of this stuff you need costs a lot more than a 2$ roll of washi tape from Wal-Mart. Honestly just buy it. ****opinion****
Double thumbs up for this one! It's a keeper.

Hi Becky. Just curious. Is there a way to make a small roll of it so you don't have to keep making the one you like repetitively?

I don't have tape what other thing should I put?
can you use any paper and draw on it than put the tap on?
and instead of putting adhesive on, can you just put on double sided tape, or just glue it?
Double sided tape is more convenient .
true, but she says she wants to achieve that transparent look that washi tape has, so I guess it really depends on what we want to get.
can you make a roll out of Washi Tape
Does it stick?.....i mean do we have to apply glue?
Also, what temp of water do u let it soak in?
Cool water is fine :)
