Karla, if you have to use the hard carrier again at some point, here's a tip. Use long zipties on both sides of door and the top if it opens. I learned this the hard way after a horrible incident. Hang in there, girl! You're almost on the other side!
Yeah Baggy was able to push his head through the top of the carrier and popped it open on the freeway. I was driving with one hand trying to shove the cat back in the carrier with the other while going 60 in the middle of summer in a car without AC!
