    I will say it again, these utterly superb videos are quite stunning. The Wolf is probably my favourite rock light in Britain, and has reassured me on a few occasions. Its desperately sad to think that these beautiful places are no longer manned. I can only salute the keepers of the lights, and with these very important films, the memories survive. I raise a glass to the keepers. Thank you for your service.

    The foghorn started the day we moved into the Lizard in September 1957 and we then had 92 hours of fog!!
    We lived there for 7 years Dad was at the Lizard for 4 years and then PK on the Wolf and then the Eddystone, before going to St Anthony.

      Thanks Peter for your memories. Yes the Lizard can be very foggy for long periods, and the engine room used to get quite hot during those sessions. Take care Mate and thanks again.

    I bet that little sailboat really appreciated that mooing Siren. Great video, it’s nice to hear about the lives including your own were like working in these sentinels of safety that are being forgotten.

      Thank you very much and yes I thought that about the sailboat, especially when you see the amount of rocks in daylight that it threaded through. Stay safe

    The Wolf! Great name for a lighthouse. I like the sound of the armchair in the lantern room.

    Cracking videos! Think I’ve worked my way through all of them! Was John Le Carre the angry author? He lived in St Buryan.
    Anyhow, thanks for posting these, they’re fantastic

      Thank you very much. I honestly don't remember if Mr Angry told us his name, I guess he must have, in-between telling us how important he was! Some people aye. Anyway, thanks again, and take care.

      Hi John, not sure on that one, mainly because they revamped everything for tourists and Holiday lets, so not sure what is as it used to be. When I first did duty here/there, the Acetylene bottles were there as the emergency light upstairs was acetylene. Cheers and take care Mate.

    Good evening Peter, been a while since I last spoke too you! I have a question? How long would one bulb 💡 last in hrs?.

    • @PeterHalil
      @PeterHalil  Рік тому +1

      Hi, From what I can remember, they were changed every 1000 hours. I don't know if that was written in stone, and I've certainly been on lights where that wasn't totally adhered to. I've no idea about these modern LED's, and who now monitors their hours if at all. Cheers and take care
