    Panasonic breadmakers make the best bread, same results every time. It’s not hard to believe, as they invented breadmakers. Nice video. X

    A wee tip for Americans thinking of making this bread. Wholemeal flour is a bit different from whole-wheat flour in the States. Wholemeal has not been stripped of the bran and wheat germ, so if using whole wheat, you will get a very different texture. You can create your own. Combine 11oz whole wheat flour with 1 cup wheat bran and 1/4 cup of wheat germ. This should give you about 3cups of wholemeal. Also, strong flour refers to bread flour, which has more gluten. I haven’t found whole wheat bread flour here. So not sure if the just using this flour will give you same result.

    The type of breadmaker does make a huge difference. We had a cheap one years ago that wasn't that good, but my dad gave me their more expensive one and it makes much nicer loaves. Thanks for the tip about a softer crust. I always get mine out straight away - but I'm going to experiment and see if that works for me too.

    Thinking of investing in one of these. Wheat very little bread and funding lately that we are throwing away a lot the supermarket stuff goes mouldy soooo fast!! This little machine looks ideal mixes and bakes for u all in one, no faffing about! And we can just put in a load as and when needed bake evening before and have fresh 🍞 next day! 😋.

    Just watched this today! I had just woken up and it so influenced me to go out and buy a bread machine! I prefer for things like this to just go into the store and pick one up from the shelf and bring it home instead of having it delivered. I've never used one before but I'm just making a plain white loaf in mine though I did make a rookie mistake that I'll see how it affects the outcome, but I'm making a 1-lb. loaf and I forgot to set the size to 1 lb. and it's on 1 1/2 lbs. so hopefully it'll still come out fine! My Mushy Peas came but I haven't eaten them yet but I will! Thanks for expanding my horizons! Best wishes to you and yours and of course Jasper!

      @@mrsoatso6331 I bought one about 10 years ago. Was around $100 Australian. I bought it because it’s just me on my own and I could never get through a whole commercial loaf before it went mouldy. The model I bought has 3 size settings. I do the smallest loaf which is 450g. It’s pretty much perfect. It has lived on the bench for the majority of the 10 years. It did end up in a cupboard for a year or so when I was doing keto, but then I found a keto bread recipe that used a machine so out it came again. I’m not doing keto anymore and I probably use it once a week or so. I recently knocked the pan off the dish rack and it hit the tiled floor. It still works, I just have slightly odd shaped loaves lol. I will buy a new one when I move but the one I want is bigger and won’t fit on my bench here. As to whether it’s easy… it’s sooo simple! Each machine will come with some recipes. Follow one of those and do it in the order your machine says. My machine needs a completely different order to Cheryl’s. I put water in first and yeast in last. It takes me less than 5 minutes to whack everything in. Pop the pan in the machine, press a couple of buttons and 3 hours and 15 minutes later (for a white loaf) it’s done. Easy peasy. You can also set a delayed start so you can put everything in at night and wake up to freshly baked bread in the morning. You can also use it to just make the dough and knead it and then you pull the dough out and shape it by hand for an artisan style loaf, or put it in a tin for a sandwich loaf shape, or make rolls. I don’t bother with that, but if I wanted bread in a different shape that would be much easier than doing it by hand.

    I’ve got a Panasonic bread machine and it certainly does make a very tasty loaf of bread , but always the mixing paddle gets stuck in the bottom of the loaf and is a job to extract without damaging the loaf ..But the bread is the best I’ve tasted and the handbook has several very interesting recipes..They are an excellent buy but oh that paddle sticking and trying to extract it without spoiling a couple of slices.. I’m going to try freezing a few slices to see if they stay fresh because the bread from the machine doesn’t for very long .

    • @pam3952
      @pam3952 2 роки тому

      Choose the thickness of slice you want. Its best to slice bread when cooled. Place the bread knife (use a serrated bread knife) on top of the loaf keep the blade parallel to the cutting board saw back and forwards all the way down to the cutting board. Do not point the tip of knife up or down keep it level with the board or you get wedges. Hope thats helpfull.

      Yes, I use mine for making the dough then use a standard loaf tin in the oven or make rolls. I also use mine to make pizza dough then put on oven tray and add toppings.
      I don't think it matters much what machine you have, but you should use good quality flour and yeast!!
      You can also experiment with the settings- I reduce the baking time for a more softer and moist loaf.
