  • This is how I use my Panasonic bread maker, a way that works for me.
The main issue for failed bread is getting the water correct, and I show you how I do it.
Here is a recipe I have been using and the order I use them:
    Yeast, 1 heaped teaspoon.
    385g Flour.
    1 Tablespoon Sugar.
    2.5 Tablespoons of milk powder.
    1 Teaspoon of salt.
    2.5 Tablespoons of sunflower oil.
    240g warm water.
I remove the dough after approx 2 hrs (when kneading cycle has finished) to remove the paddle. (wet hands lightly) replace in machine to complete the whole cycle.
Cook time 3 hours, wholemeal setting.

HI Ken had some fails even though I followed the recipe on Panasonic SD 2530 this years model, mainly to much water I think as they rise to the top of the bread machine moist ish inside and large bubble like texture. I have done one today on Basic Medium white used less water and checked after first need to see if it was mixing correctly and not to wet, I needed to sprinkle in about half a tsp flour and only used 275 g water ( 290 g recommended) . I was not sure when to remove the hook, I took it out with 2.10 hrs on Rise to go, Bake time is 50-55 so I think I have enough time for the loaf to rest rise and get back into shape. I am new to bread machine baking. I mainly got it for keading and rise for Rye breads, rolls and so on. I think it will be fine to do my basic white loaves and french loaves in the machine we will see. I will try your bake for sure , ? why do use wholemeal setting for white . Thanks for all the tips newbie machine baker.

Hi, I have been using the basic bread recipe from the panasonic book for ten years now, it is good, but I may try your recipe now. We have a cheap cutting guide which greatly helps to get nice slices even on very fresh bread.

Glad they worked for you, the main thing that helped me get a good loaf is getting the water right for the flour and using spring water.
Our tap water is very hard.

Hi Ken, I'm using my panasonic for the 1st time today to make a basic white loaf. It should be ready at 9pm. Plenty of time to keep being tempted to swipe the paddle out haha. but i tink i'll just see what the machine does on its own 1st. Great vid xx take care xx

Hope it worked out OK, To remove paddle you have to get the timing right. On the wholemeal 3hr it is 2hrs after start.

Nice one Ken. I have a Panasonic one as well (different model) great bit of kit. Never thought about taking the paddle out! D'Oh!
When you get to the end of the bread, lie it cut side down and slice it horizontal while gently pressing down (some do this for the whole loaf)
    Stay safe guys!

Thanks for commenting, we were up your way the other day, tea at that garden centre after a walk along the canal.
The two main points for a good loaf is getting the amount of water right and using spring water. Our water is very hard and does not make good bread. Give it a try.

You have to work out the timing for the recipe for when to remove the paddle, basically after all the mixing is done and it is on final rise/bake.
Look at manual and they give you timings for each program and you can work it out.
