Thank you ! My father in law, the retired mechanic, passed away last year and of course I still need Dad to show me how to fix something simple and save money!

Thanks, I'm glad this helped out. I still have "kids" and do a lot of work on their cars. They will get a shock someday when they have to pay a mechanic or dealer for repairs.

Thanks. Great video. Swapped out both headlight assemblies in about 20 minutes with the help of watching this video prior to starting.

My ring broke too. (Also forgot how to replace it). What a POS. Used clear shipping tape and super glue to hold in bulb. Will have to buy new ring like you, if I ever need to replace assembly. they are only about $38.

I have the Dorman 42420 Headlight Bulb Retainer Assortment for my 1999 Grand Am. Is there a diagram or instruction vid about how to install the retainers on the light? Neither left or the right headlamp had them on. The headlight bulbs are just tie wrapped on. I'm looking for vid or diagram on it.

I've got the Grand Am 202. Silly question. my dash board seems to be warping. Up on the drivers side near glass window. Any ideas?

My 2002 Grand Am dash is bowed up like a banana in the front left. I don't have any great ideas for a simple fix. The Grille in the dash is all shattered as well and I can't find one in good shape at a junk yard, and no luck finding and aftermarket replacement.

@@jimdandy6472 The below dash grille from Amazon fits my '04 Grand Am. But the dash warp moved the dash COVER away from the windshield, moving the hole the grille sits in. That's OK but the grille attaches to holes in the dash BASE w/ 5 plastic and metal clip prongs (see Amazon pic). These no longer line up, can't be used, HAVE to be cut off w/ a hacksaw, and the grille attached to the dash some other way. I used black drywall screws and it looks factory. The dash is made of a hard, thin, brittle plastic layer and I made a "map" of where I could and couldn't drill because there are voids. Then I pre-drilled small holes in the vent. Then used Harbour Freight Item 96726 Hex Socket Extension & Angled Bit Holder, and SKU 64887 Hex Shank Bit Set (Short little drill bit) to drill a small hole in the tight space and drive the screws in. For the dash curl at the glass edge, I did what others have, I rolled 5/8 heater hose into the space after removing the lettering from the hose - rubbing it off w/ cleaners. You can use smaller hose at the windshield edges. For the dash issue separation above the speedometer & RPM gauge, I have some leftover black headliner material (from replacing my Grand Am's headliner) and I'm gonna use (removable) double sided tape and a strip of black material in an "m" shape to bridge that gap.

I bought a cheap hot glue gun at the hardware store and used hot glue to glue the rolled headliner material over the gap between the speedometer and the dash, because hot glue will come off the dash if you don't get it where you want it and have to redo it later. In fact, to get the hot glue to stick to the dash, I had to use alcohol to remove Armor All protectant. This week I bought new headlights which really improved the looks of the front end. Next I'll be replacing the rear bumper metal support so that I can add a hitch.
