It took me an hour to replace the headlamp itself back in the day on my 2001 GA GT when I didn't know what I was doing. I remember that day cause it was 10 degrees outside and the wind chill was minus -15
you edited the part at 2:28 where you curse and throw your pliers cause the headlight didn't pop right out. LOL. Seriously thanks for the video... I'm about to do my headlights now and you saved me lots of aggravation.
Bought a new set for my '04 GAGT from 1aauto because of this wonderful video. Would recommend marking existing headlights before beginning (I used garage door, putting a piece of tape in center of each). Even after adjusting the screws to the same lengths as old headlights, they were off. The outside screws adjust lenses up-down.

Hey - thanks for this video! Pep Boys tried to charge my daughter $75 to switch out her headlight bulb. Your video showed me to how to release the assembly to do it ourselves. It took 10 min and most of that was working the clips loose & getting them back in jusy right :)
Finally a video that explains how to remove the stupid metal retainer clips! My daughter got a "new" car and had to replace blinker, ok sure easy enough.... 3 hrs later couldn't get past those damn clips! All the videos say just shake and pull. U indeed can NOT shake and pull ok. So, now I know u got push it forward I'm praying it works. Autozone wouldn't help us since we (2 mechanically inclined females) couldn't get it so he said he couldn't. 😡

@Pookatube You may want to check the owners manual. One some vehicles there are a series of things that need to be done to disable them.Hope this helps.
@1aauto The 97 to 2005 Chevy Malibu and Malibu Classic Headlight removal procedure are basically the same as this Pontiac. Grand Am Just though you and the subscribers would like to know.
Thank you for sharing this! Using this video, I was able to replace my Aunt's headlight assemblies on her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. It is soo nice I did not have to take the bumper off! I have to take the bumper off on my car (Nissan Altima 3.5 SE-R) which can be a pain in the rear end!
@passcindi1 It looks as though you would need to remove the rest of the cover (like we started to in the video). The you should be able to unbolt it from it's attaching points.

I called Canadian Tire and they told me it would cost $60 to replace bulb in 2001 Grand Am because its "fairly time consuming". I was like "AS IF". I found this video and changed the bulb in under 20 minutes. Mechanic could probably do it in under 10 minutes. Thanks! You saved me $60
Beauty ! I use to change mine in my Talon but when I opened the hood to change on my 02 GT, I thought no way. I was pretty frustrated. Really didnt want to take it in and pay like $100 especially since I knew they could do it in 10 to 15 minutes. Rip off. Thank you for this video !
Hey could you tell me how to remove the thing that covers the radiator in a 2000 pontiac grand am. Saw how you took off the top piece in this video but there is something under that which I need help with.
Most OEM style headlights that did not come from the factory with HIDs, will disperse the light incorrectly such as you are seeing right now. Your best bet would be to either to switch over to standard bulbs or purchase headlights with the special projector inside of it.
Hey I have a question. I broke the tab on the drivers headlight right side( Part where you pull in your pliers to get the headlight out) on the right side by accident. How to do I go to replacing just the tab ??
Excellent video! I just wished I had seen this Vid. prior to changing my headlights. I used my worthless haynes manual (just kidding) and it didn't show half the steps you're showing. I really do like haynes manuals , but what a dissapointment on their explanation. I consider myself mechanically inclined, but these have to be the worst headlights to deal with ever. Before you buy the part, you may want to test the wires with a test light or ohm meter so that you can see where the problem is.

It sounds like the header panel broke. We currently do no carry them.
