Thank you for all your hard work Nathan! We picked up our half beef order on Tuesday and it was so nice to met your wife. Make sure you tell Allyson how much my wife and I appreciate her taking the time driving us around your farm . My two year old son Samuel loved seeing the cows up close. She said she would be put us on the list for one of your Turkeys. You made a costumer for life, may God continue you and your family
Pretty amazing yeah big bluestem in that seed bank after all the years of farming I don’t see any of it around here the only place I see it along expressways cause I figured they must’ve put it in a reseeding mix unless somebody put it up on purpose
2nd rotation we got just shy of 70 days rotation. That’s with about 110 acres of grass and 96 head of cattle. Also on the 110 acres we raise about 1200-1500 pasture chickens some turkeys, about 100 egg layers
@@drumhillerfarms6858 I know with the regenerative style crop farming (notill and cover Crops) they say about the same. after year five things really start to get exciting!
I planted some native grasses a few years ago let them get established then grazed them off with the cattle. They are now spreading the seeds everywhere
Just incredible

Very interesting
I’d like to learn how u did that
Did you seed and fertilize when you first started on that ground or just start grazing what was there? Did you feed hay on it?
No seed or fertilizer. There are old hay grounds. We have fed a lot of hay on it, that really helps
Makes me want to lay down in green pastures
@@180turnprojectrestoredchur8 amen!

We are in south central Michigan and had a 2 1 /2 month drought this early summer
You are able to keep those cattle within the electric fence? Do they not jump over as its only knee height? NICE PASTURE!
They do not get out
Is there a chance we can have a private talk?
How many years has it taken to start to notice it turning around like that?
After year one. But this is the 5 year mark and things are blowing up

@@drumhillerfarms6858 that’s awesome! Do you make your own hay for Winter?
@@kahlerfamilyfarms use to, sold all the equipment, buy about 10-15 thousand in hay a year and brought on 30 thousand more in cattle. No brainer
Im not sure about raising sheep . Alot of the ranchers here have sheep for the wool and they say sheep eat the grass down.
Have to keep them moving
