- Established in 2012, Dyson Farming is one of the largest farming businesses in the UK, extending to 36,000 acres across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset.
It is a family-owned enterprise unlike any other, focussed on long-term investment in British farming and the countryside. Sustainable food production, food security and the environment are vital to the UK’s health and economy and James Dyson believes there is a real opportunity for technology to drive a revolution in agriculture. Dyson Farming is developing new approaches to efficient, high-technology agriculture and food production, in harmony with the natural environment, to create a positive farming model for the future.
Dyson Farming farms a range of produce at scale including wheat and barley, potatoes, onions, and peas. It also rears sheep and cattle. The business grows British strawberries out of season in its state-of-the-art 26-acre glasshouse which is heated by the adjacent anaerobic digester.

Please make an hour-long version of this!!
Why stop at an hour? Why not a day? That’s what a true fanboy would say
Setting your playback speed to 0.1x should do the trick
Please don’t.
Was just feeling the myself same sentiment myself.
I'm here for that!
Sir James Dyson is someone who makes me proud to be British. Wish we had more inventors and entrepreneurs like him.
He's a disgrace who uses illegal labour practices across the globe to feed his greed.
Doesn’t he live in Singapore to avoid Uk taxes?
@@macy8993 Sounds smart
@@Zoocsgo sounds like a twat to me
It's the British thing to do
This philosophy and approach--not to mention the technology--is absolutely mind-blowing, and provides for me an entirely new perspective on Mr. Dyson. This should be a lesson and example for agriculture around the world.
Tbh, this is a very backwards looking system, if you compare it to most regenerative agriculture in the UK. It looks much more intensive and less focused on soil health and long term sustainability. I work in consultancy in the space, and it’s a very slick video that reveals some significant issues.
@@notyrpapa what's backwards about it?
All for the low low price of billions and decades of return on investment.
This is not profitable in our lifetimes. It will have too much up front costs
This technology has been around for 40 years or more.. You think it's a new Technology??!!
The Robots are ON TRIAL.. That doesn't mean they will be used commercially. They are prototypes.
This needs to be a Netflix / Amazon Prime series!! Fantastic work James! Would have never known if it wasn’t for UA-cam
is it bollox
Should do a collaboration with Jeremy Clarkson and his farming show!

Or Harry's Farm
@@stevewilson6390 the three of them would be quite interesting
Helps when you've got billions at your disposal, no normal farmer can do what he's doing without losing money.
Beautiful English countryside. Everything seems so advanced in this video, yet I especially love how you have remembered to protect and conserve the rich heritage of your land too; by repairing the drystone walls. An amazing craft.
Chemicals, not nature. All man made.
Ive always admired this man, he has always been ahead of the curve and always put down yet he just quietly carries on inventing and inovating.
There are many millions “ahead of the curve”, they just aren’t drowning in cash so we never hear from them.
Meh. Despite being Impressive in his endeavours, Did he open source it? No. he’s still Another selfish captured capitalist cuck.
But is it determined ingenuity, or is it sociopath determined ingenuity. We have seen wave upon wave of ingenuity and live with so many of the failed results.
His U.V light destroying mould claim is not a proven fact. Also if these is a mould issue that is down to the environment being to humid. It's the Environment that needs improving to fix any mould issues NOT U.V.. He obviously doesn't know much about growing plants.
Tell that to the people that make his vacuum cleaners.
I'm sure the forced labourers in Malaysia agree with you...
Stuck on the road to Bath from the M4 three or four Summers ago I was able to congratulate the mason on his handicraft as he rebuilt all the stonework facing the road. I felt so pleased that he was so proud of his work and had the opportunity to show it off daily for months to zillions of passers-bye.
It was only later that I learned it was part of the Dyson Trust and I thought - good on you, you’re doing it properly. I’ve just learned it was 15km of wall altogether. I take my hat off to you Mr Dyson. And a better memorial you couldn’t ask for.
masons are so cool. they look at the rocky ground for a moment, look to the sky and just go "i could work with that"
Drive past them many times a week. A piece of landscape architecture which we all can appreciate.
What a remarkable effort... If only more rich philanthropists had an engineering mind and an actual conscience... Thank you Mr. Dyson for your work. Would love to see more.
You think this’s philanthropy??? 😂
@@kiuk_kiks He didn't say it was dumbass
@kikuyukiiru5666 whether it's philanthropic or not, it seems like a worthwhile venture. Much more productive than him sticking his money in an offshore account or hedge fund.
The downside is that the level of capital investment needed is daunting, and perhaps a threat to the family farm.
So different to those multi millionaire hedge fund managers who waste their money on bling trinkets and flash living.
Fantastic to see an engineer applying their skills to an industry like this. Utterly brilliant.
Yes indeed, he'll have the countryside running like a well oiled machine in no time! Great to see all that dirt tidied up! Such a lovely example of rural culture.
As someone who works in software, all of this hardware innovation and fusion with nature is amazing. I would love to work on such impactful projects. Incredible and inspiring.
Nature didnt need software for millions of years.
Dyson is doing this sell more products to an increasingly consumerist society.
Me too!
I’m in software as well and I’d love to be part of a project like this.
Same here! It takes my raspberry pi experiments (hobby) to a whole new level
Mr Dyson you are the person of the year, I worked this farm, best farm in England
It looks like the one in the world
how do you know, to judge, you would have had to worked on a lot of farms to make an effective comparative judgement
Bot comment
Its a dilemma. On the one hand, centralising farming into the hands of Dyson types can deliver amazing results. On the other hand, centralising the supply of an essential commodity into a few technocrats has obvious flaws, maybe not now but certainly down the line.
Such as controlling the food supply to push agendas? Is that what you're thinking? I can see that if so.
Good thing is that it it something easily sizeable should anything happen
spot on, just posted a similar comment myself
The dilemma would be solved if he/they look to profit from the machinery and technology and empower farmers to use this method, rather than outcompeting them into bankruptcy and then buying their land.
Easier to watch them that way and make sure humanity comes first
It’s not often I can look at something of this scale and feel genuinely good about it. But with this I do. I see integrity, honesty, and a lot of care and consideration gone into being ecologically responsible and resourceful. I’m impressed. Keep BGates away from everything.
Dude must have watched Clarksons farm
Absolutely Brilliant. Hats off to James. A man, who together with his family stand for values which are fundamental to society.
Hilarious
Kudos to Dyson and his team. World needs more forward thinking like this.
Utter respect for Dyson's vision and follow through.
Finally! We are focusing in improving farming in UK.Thanks Mr Dyson.
Those strawberry-picking robots are, hands down, the cutest machines I've ever seen.
James Dyson comes across in this video as instantly admirable.
This is the way things should be done. Work with nature not against it.
Oh yep all you need is 1 trillion dollars and your robots can pick strawberries for you
Industrialists branching out like this armed with capital are acquiring land from small farmers. This approach looks good, future proof and sensible. *But* we need to be aware that the fewer hands we put our future in, the more power these hands will have over us. Do we want that with food?
Yes, tax avoiding industrialists also
The fact that a small fraction of the population can feed all the rest is why we are rich. If anything, we should want even fewer people producing even more food. That's how prosperity works
@@michaelebenstein ROFLOL, and which big farm do you own?? 😝
Maybe some of the tech can help small farmers one day. A dyson picking robot seems nice.
Grow as much of your own as possible and or join with others in your community to work together that is the only way to effect change and get the power away from them. Take action to be free or be subject to.
Dyson is doing really important work here. Very inspiring. During the video I exclaimed “now THAT’S an anaerobic digester!”
Brilliant! Mind, money, magnificence combined to revolutionise and truly embrace a continuing process of innovation. The future of possibilities rather than doom and gloom the cynics espouse. This is the growth of humanity, true biodiversity and creation of a paradise. Kudos Mr Dyson….Kudos.
I have a farm in the Philippines and looking to do this full time when I retire. This is inspiring and would love to work as an apprentice at your farm to learn which I can take back with me and share with my people.
Go visit him, you will likely get a job just by showing the initiative of traveling there
Really had no idea that Mr Dyson was so diverse. Really well done 👍
Dyson need to make more of this. This is how the whole of Britain should farm and make itself self sufficient in food and fuel.
Self-sufficient or dependent on Dyson?
What an amazing video to fall across, as others have said, it deserves a proper programme of it's own. Well done to you Sir.
Absolutely incredible. Nothing short of mind-blowing. Really important innovations.
Hardly innovative, all seen and done before.
Thanks Mr. Dyson for now paying taxes and contributing to the country you descibe so beautifully.
It’s beautiful to see this ingenuity and hard work, but there is a sadness in it too that so much land is in the hands of so few. Some people have dreams of being small farmers, and it may be hard to do when so much land is accumulated by companies. Anyhow, this is some brilliant work, and it excites me to see.
I would find it cool if Dyson made this scale of effort for engineering a cycle for Bee farming. Bees being endangered and one of the most important species for the planet. They also produce one of the most important nutritional carbohydrates superfoods (honey).
Industrialist who took huge amounts of government funding then off-shored. No, James, we haven't forgotten.
Love the uv, beneficial insects, bots and so on. The future is now ❤
Spinning ‘ dreams’ into ‘reality’ ; bravo Dyson for your life and creating new farm possibilities; aroha, from NZ Nicko.
Amazing
He is someone I look up to
Using his wisdom and knowledge for the betterment of this world

So happy for him
👏
Let's not forget the most important reason for buying land and making sure it's a family run business, tax advantages.
No prblm because he can clearly operate that budget much better than a politician
I was painting out Horncastle way last year , and after passing by your farm that way i had tp stop and have a look and inquire what's going on.
Ive just realised it was probably this farm lol, i left that place feeling amazed and excited about the future. Keep shining sir ☀️
This is awesome! Before the Industrial Revolution in America, growing food was a largely organic way of growing food. Farmers re-used parts of crops to further the growth of future crops and amend the soil. The methods being developed at Dyson seem to be super-charging what can be done at scale.
What a fantastic setup!
Amazing! This seems like the way forward.
I want Dyson to take this stuff as wide as possible and make farming more profitable for folks like american farmers so we can have better food growth practices.
I'd also love to echo that I want an hour long or even 6 hour long version of this to just see what's going on.
This is fascinating, to say the least. Just exciting seeing a world class engineering company get into agriculture and discuss circular farming. I believe Mr Dyson truly understands the energy embodiment that goes into the production of food; the kind of energy that we all so take for granted. The possibilities and the potential for humanity are just endless when two such industries come together.
Incredible. I didn't know Dyson had gotten into farming.
Like most billionaires, they follow the money! Only the rich will survive the climate apocalypse.
@@rinnin Farming is hardly a highly profitable business in the UK, he's doing it to lead by example.
@@rinnin Right because farmers are absolutely rolling in money 😂
Brilliant, technology and industrial farming in harmony with nature. I love this concept, congratulations.
Simply put. The right to produce food ❤
Full version needed what a guy ❤
I'm so glad that this man has amassed a fortune. Creating safe habitats for wildlife as well as produce removed from the typical practices of industrial farming are noble pursuits.
Freakin' awesome. We need more Dyson farms around the world.
This is so awesome!! Well done Mr Dyson for this! Especially love the fact it is creating beautiful habitat for all kinds of creatures. Also love the innovative ways of farming that doesn't use pesticides or chemicals.
The time money technology put together too get this all up in running Mr Dyson certainly needs too be acknowledged highly bringing us cleaner fresher foods too our door made in uk I wish him all the success and his team behind this for massive investments for the future long after Mr Dyson is gone incredible too see people who actually care about us and our country and put there wealth too great use for others thank you wish you great success too come even more
Clearly the filmmaker is unaware of the damage done by grey squirrels and muntjac deer if they think they’re suitable examples of how Dyson Farms is helping nature!
Your choice of music was absolutely superb
Very interesting.
Thanks for the share.
Take care of yourself.
This circular farming approach sets a new standard, creating better food sustainably👍
Incredible storytelling! 🌱
brilliant James Dyson and true leader - shame there aren't more of him
the gov doesn’t really incentivize this sort of investment, I’m sure there would be more people doing it otherwise
What an incredible, sustainable way to farm. I love it.
What an excellent demonstration of use of technology in food production. Using waste to produce electricity, using machines to sense if a strawberry is ripe, all the power to you Mr Dyson. 🌺
This is proper eco farming that still produces enough food. Imagine if we could do this on a mass global scale in the 1st world developed countries. It would help ease the hunger problem and allow the farmland soil to not become exhausted

I have a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Always consider myself a farmer
Remarkable. It makes me wonder why people like him are not in charge, or brought to guide politicians. For instance what’s his view on the energy crisis, and source of fuel, power going forward. We should all be sat in a circle listening to him, and other inventors, asking, what should we do, what resources to you need, and can we facilitate you further… instead we have a group of business people in suites pretending they know what to do.
That was a surprisingly satisfying watch.
James, I full admired &respect your expertise in machines & Farming, Good Englishman
This is just amazing. Good on you Mr Dyson!
You have to love how his mind applies creativity to engineering. His brand is trusted because it works. Thank you Dyson, for giving us faith that there are innovative humans and companies still out there, showing the fast money corporations how we are part of a solution and not the problem.
Love the timelapse scene !
I hope this guy lives a long life , he is a force for good.
(5.25min. delicious pesticide) If industrialization still fascinates you then this farm is it.
Fantastic. Thank you for being a part of the future of humanity.
We're not at perfection yet, and probably never will be, but this is absolutely a step in the right direction.
James, thank you - my grandfather always said you would make good. He would be proud.
Many congratulations!! These guys need to show the government how to run things properly!
That was absolutely stunning to watch, congratulations, you need to do a documentary on this
Really great. Next step is to distribute these innovations and provide solutions for small scale farmers. Govt grants for agribots etc.
I can only say WOW! Massive respect for Mr. Dyson!
Absolutely excellent! My wish would be that some of these ideas would also translate in to use on smaller farms as well, helping everyone along the way. Super job!
A lot of those things have been around for years, and are being used on small farms! Those smaller farms just don't produce slick videos showing it off.
A lot of farmers just don’t care about being green. They think taking care of the environment and climate are the sate of money and “liberals” trying to control them

Fantastic! I thought Dyson is making only home appliances. New methods of farming in this scale is amazing. I’d like to eat Dyson farming strawberries. Looking after our soil and coexisting insects and other animals is the way to go. ❤️
Impressive and inspiring- as an agriculturist it is great to see how technologies and food production can come together in this way.
Mr Dyson, Staying just a few minutes from your HQ in Singapore and yet can ill-afford the prices of the Dyson fans. Really need one to beat the coming torrid hot weather. Could you please tell the office to offer one good model at a friendly neighbour price?
Fantastic Mr. Dyson. We need your help in Nigeria. Thank You.
This is fascinating, would love to see more!
Wow this is incredible! Please please make a more in depth version! Or invite a UA-camr like smarter every day to come and asked questions on our behalf and make the longer version for you guys!
the robots picking the strawberries is crazy
Really well done... it'll be interesting to see what products Dyson will roll out from this project.
Fascinating experimentation of future technology in agriculture! Monarchs MK-V tractor being fully autonomous, electric with live data and AI is another cool example of farming tech I recently stumbled upon! It can reportedly use visual AI to monitor crop health. I had no idea there was a tech boom in agriculture! Love / hate Dyson, his work here deserves some admiration
Dude please, I built a bio digester 15 years ago, hydroponics have been around since the birth of man. Your the people that are happy sitting in an office tapping at keyboards and never want to enrich your soul with digging the soil.
Plus you can't tell the difference between a soil grown food or hydro.
He's using his money you gave him to feed quantity not quality.
Personally I think people these days have no idea to what is actually happening too their food
Amazing. This makes me love the Dyson brand even more and I don’t mind paying the premium for their products. (Although there are no amount of good deeds that will make me buy those headphones)
If only all rich people have this kind of vision and action to benefit the future.
This is amazing, great that he has the resources to do this, it will change everything in the near future
Wow this is great i hope the rest of the world is watching!!❤
Looks like paradise! Indeed it is part of the financial paradise sought by Dyson & the Rees-Mogg tribe.
I would imagine that these tax-sheltered operations will be used to offset profits of worldwide operations which are stowed in Singapore and Malta to be returned to the UK as untaxed income.
I use several Dyson machines, but every time I use them I think of the destruction these people have created for businesses which were established for international clientele by conducting free trade between the UK and France.
It's excellent and I hope you keep putting such resources into sharing these processes. The truth is it takes wealth and innovation to innovate farming like this and when that goes back in to sharing and open sourcing the knowledge it improves the world 🌍❤
So impressive. You've done amazing work. Thank you James.
This man truly is inspirational.
Genius approach towards modern farming and creating clean green energy, now the government need to get behind this approach and help us implement it around the entire country.

More videos just like this about your food and wildlife production in the future would be much appreciated. Best wishes and Happy New Year Tony
Well, I love his vacuums, so I can't imagine him making anything less than perfect. Looks like a pretty amazing system.
Thats great. Now can you use some of that influence to save the amazon jungle from deforestation?
That's a much, MUCH bigger problem, concerning local and federal corruption on top of simply funding issues or poor influence
I will never understand the pricing for Dyson products, it’s daylight robbery. Yes, they are quality products but then the price is 5x similar competitor products. Maybe 2x is palatable but 5x is downright insane & greedy. Especially their fans, it’s out of control.
They aren't even twice the price of a Shark vacuum
Dude, you need an episode with Clarkson Farms! What you are doing isn't new but most farms does a part of what you are doing, but you are trying to become self reliant. This is pretty neat!
Dyson; the wealthiest company in the world owned by a single person.
Really cool but to be honest I've tested a lot of hydroponic strawberries and soil grown are way better.
