Cena got a lot of hate but he actually did quite a lot for guys, Its not really his fault Vince booked him like superman for like 12 years.
He was dependable in a era where everyone Vince had invested in had left him high and dry

It's great that Tyrus still remembers this and cherishes that moment in his life. I guarantee it was just a small thing in Cena's mind but it meant the world to Tyrus.

I already am, I liked Cena growing up but never fully appreciated him. As an adult now, I miss the hell outta him and always mark out when he makes a special appearance.

Only difference at least Cena did have more of a supporting cast than Roman. Meaning Cena had people who felt just as important around him and he wasn’t the only one who u would look at as the star. Unlike Roman who when u see his opponents u know Romans going over.
Cena was appreciated and i was one of those. Yes there are haters but let them hate and its part of it. Cena embraces every hate he received like a real champ.

People don't really understand how Cena was the Real Face of WWE - he brought more people to the fanbase than anyone else all around the World.
Cena was a face of the company but Austin and Rock brought many more eyes to the product.
“You don’t know what you have until it’s gone”. I’m hoping he comes back for one more serious run but if he doesn’t, moments like this will make me remember him as a real stand up guy, even if I wasn’t a fan of his Superman run.
Hear hear! I don't think Cena will return for any "runs", but he'll make the occasional appearance to help put others over. I've never been a fan of Cena as a wrestler (I was a boo'er and "Cena Sucks" person), and he's not a good actor in my opinion, but as a person, there are few better than him! Complete stand-up guy with heaps of integrity and genuine care for others!

Being born in 2000, John Cena is one of my favorite wrestlers ever. This story in particular just cements how awesome of a human being John Cena is in my mind. Brodus is an amazing guy as well 💯

When I was in Iraq in 2009, Cena and the WWE came over on a USO tour. Cena was in the gym with the soldiers working out meeting everyone. Dudes always been a class act. He’s done over a thousand make a wish events too. Never cared for him as a wrestler. Always thought he was a decent guy.
Lets not forget when cena threw taiwan under the bus to kiss chinas ass.

He gets memed a lot and his gimmick may be a bit silly, but behind the scenes Cena often gets respect from fellow athletes, there's been countless stories praising him & his work ethic - not to mention the fact that he holds the record for the most Make a Wish appearances.
Actual doctors and nurses hold the record for make a wishes. They help kids in meaningful ways EVERY DAY.

I absolutely love hearing stories like this. You can dislike Cena all you want as a wrestler, but you can’t deny his greatness as a human being
Regardless of how people feel about Cena in character, the man himself is one of the best things to happen to the WWE. He is one of the handful if not possible the only guy who didn't pull the ladder up from behind him, but instead stretched a hand out to those next in line. In wrestling these guys play version of themselves turned up to 11. I really believe this is true of Cena. Love him or hate him.
Met Cena when I was working on the changeover crew at the key bank center in Buffalo (for wwe we would set up the chairs then wait for the show to end to take them down). He showed us more respect than any other person in the building, including coworkers from other departments. As I walked out of the back of the arena to go to my training session, there was an absolute wall of people I had no hope getting through. Seeing this after already signing autographs for seemingly forever, he turned around and walked back towards the crowd who all came over to him, clearing me a space to leave. Dude just loves being nice

People get annoyed that Cena got the mega push for nearly 20 years, but he deserves it. Nobody else could carry the company, sell the merch he does, get a crowd reaction like he does, and do as much charity as he does. And the longevity too. Isn't that only time he got really hurt that time before he made the surprise royal rumble comeback?
I remember when Austin left, rock went Hollywood, and taker got hurt. Cena literally carried the company on his back, and continued doing it for years. Lost wives, friends, and family all for Vince. I hope he never forgets that, and any time Cena needs anything, Vince or Shane/Steph are right there for him. Most humble guy in the business

It’s only Alex Reily that has said something bad about John Cena. The rest such as Brodus have only given nothing but praise to Cena and I respect that. My issue with Cena is that he never held the Intercontinental championship😪

He is a genuine person that does things intentionally for entertainment purposes for us the fans. Wether it be any of his gimmicks, movies, matches, or promos, being arguably one of the greatest wwe superstars and pretty much a pop culture figure. And???? Also being the only celebrity in the world to grant more wishes than anyone in "Make a Wish" history (650).

I always hated Cena's character in WWE but that is a real honest, stand up, good man in the real world. He's always doing good for people and handles himself so well. He's also won me over as Peacemaker. I would definitely say I am a Cena fan (other than in the ring)

I've been watching wrestling all my life and even though today's wrestling is not as good as the attitude era.. John Cena was never my favorite but he was the guy that I had the most respect for due to the fact incidents like this but do you know that John Cena did over 300 make a wish appearances meaning that kids that had a fatal ill requested the last wish was to meet John Cena and he always came through.. I think he even holds the record for most requests in the Make-A-Wish foundation which is a beautiful foundation and such a really good cause.. and John Cena stuffed up every moment.. I don't particularly hate John Cena but I respect them as a human being and he has all my respects and what he does for the kids even though a lot of guys hate him you can't help but respect it... thank you John Cena for everything you have done for your fellow human beings
Cena waited a whole year for the match with rock, and still took more time just to give tyrus his moment. Special stuff.

It sounds like, from shoots and stories, Cena would bury people back in his earlier main event days, not out of maliciousness, I think he just wanted to make sure to get himself over. As he got older, he got more secure with himself and tried to make up for it by helping others. So all around, a good dude. All the younger up and comers now just talk about how great Cena is and how he's always willing to do business.
cant hate anyone for being ruthless in the beginning. you've got a hundred guys around you every day trying to get over and would sell their grandma to headline a Mania. if he was like that in the beginning it's the reason he made it to the top because there was a brief time he was on the chopping block and about to lose his job.

A lot of conflicting stories about cena backstage which I believe both sides to be true but still what a guy
I guess that sometimes he did have an ego and get his personal feelings derail some people's careers, but unlike other people he tried to get it in check and help out the younger talent when he could.
