Cool story, thanks Chris!
Love It CVVCLIPS Bro.
That Cena-Michaels rematch on RAW after Mania is still to this day, one of the greatest matches on RAw.
LOL
@@ben1ben2ben1 shut up troll. I'll slam your brittle ass!
Is that the match where Cena looked at JBL and did the "You can't see me?"
@@Supervillain725what?
@@Supervillain725nah that was a different one in 2009. He’s talking about the 2007 match they had after mania.
“Went from never drinking to drinking every night” my college freshman year experience in one sentence.
@@user-yl7mr3ck5lthis doesn’t apply to every American. I had my first drink when I was 17, my last year of highschool. Mainly because my parents don’t drink and were sorta strict with me. But I have friends who drank since they were 12. But there some kids here who won’t have their first drink till they’re in college because of college parties. Here in America, the legal drinking age is 21. There are some good things and some bad things about it. I know in Europe it’s younger and again there are some pros and cons about drinking at a younger age. It’s all about perspective really.
Lol….I drank more before I turned 21 than after I turned 21 😂
Well in America, our weed is so good, that we've kind of lost interest in drinking. We will have a few beers. But when you have the best weed on the planet, I meean
Lies again? Grab Drinks Google Drive
@@bmak111 This is true. I didnt start drinking until my second semester in college. Joining a fraternity sped that up so to speak so yes it is different for everybody.
I feel like I didn’t appreciate coach as much as I should have when he was in WWE back then
He is originally a reporter for KMBC 9 News out of Kansas City Mo. He worked alongside Karen Kornacki and Lenny Dawson as a sports reporter. Then that's how his career boosted and went to ESPN before he was able to go to WWE. I'm originally from KC. Everyone on that area knows who he is
He's Vince yes boy on screen a heel...there was a reason you didn't like him
@@eLite-Tiss91 I absolutely love Jonathan Coachman. He showed how he could go from a broadcaster to a wrestler. Yes a regular TV broadcaster
He was an on screen clown heel, so in a way you would never know his value or how bright he is until he’s gone and get to hear him on his side of things.
Same prolly could be say about Michael Cole, all of us feel like he is a loser on screen because he was always bullied around until we got brought up with the fact that he missed less than 4 shows for almost 3 decades with wwe.
This Wwe fans in a nut shell it goes up the point where they chant for retirement saying that they hate them but once they leave they wanna act like they always liked him you Wwe fans are bunch of babies who get lost in this fantasy acting like what they say or do isn’t scripted
We need more Jonathan Coachman stories 👏🏾👏🏾
This interview gives me a newfound respect for Coachman; eloquent, great storyteller and really made it a point to give his all to this industry.
Those 2 matches Cena & HBK had are absolute masterpieces
His mom was a middle school FACS teacher in Salina, Kansas. I was in her FACS class. Jonathan Coachman would comes back to Salina while he had a break and speak to us middle school kids in her classes. It was one of the coolest things of my childhood. I will never forget it. Mrs. Coachman was an amazing women.
Drinking 9 nights in a row and still putting one of the greatest matches ever 😮 what a legend 😂
Almost every territory wrestler did this and they worked more often
@@kraw3026 Exactly. It's nothing special. I literally got drunk 355 days out of the year for 11 years straight from 2008-2019. You gotta beat your body into submission.
Lies bro what do you think you are some sort of drinking machine ?

I watched that match live with HBK vs Cena in London. Incredible match.
Hbk won cause cena won at wrestlemania
I remember that Triple H return on Raw. The building was electric and it’s crazy because he was a super heel before he left. It shows just how much fans appreciate the wrestlers who give their all to the business
His return to Madison Square garden was on Raw? What year
Anytime a heel returns and gets an ovation is always refreshing
2002 in January I think
Was this after he tore his leg against jericho and benoit?
I’d love to walk in to a hotel and find a wrestling ring set up.
*Coach actually seems like a nice genuine guy in real life. You see so many people from wrestling can't switch their characters off but he actually seems friendly, when you consider what his character was like his entire run with the company its pretty cool to see him outside the character.*
@Stuart267 well iam sure most people not working in the business outside are great but if they’re still in the business a lot of them still believe in kayfabe
I've never understood the dislike smarks have for him. He always seemed cool and wasn't above being in hilarious and humiliating segments.
@@getschwifty9531 He was hilarious as the character, especially his chemistry with Rock. Crazy hearing how bad they treated him after 20+ years with the company.
HIs mom was my FACS teacher in middle school were I grew up and I had her for class. This was early 2000s. Coach made it a point during those years to come back and speak to us kids about what life was like, how to be successful and this was during his big year runs on TV. As a 12 year old kid getting to meet someone on TV for years and getting to speak to him in person was a lifetime memory I will never forget. His mother was an amazing soul. He was just as kind and giving as she was.
@@nolangoodwin9835 Thanks for sharing. Makes the guy even more likable lol. Hope he finds more success even if its with a different company as WWE treated him like crap at the end of the day.
Chris Jericho once said in an interview that Cena has an Iron level when it comes to Alcohol.
So that's how you train for the 2007 Match of the Year
Lmaoo he ordered food and the producers told them it was OK to walk by
Cena is indestructible
He's Superman 😅

.....okayyyyyy 🙄😂
That Triple H return pop was INSANE!
Yes
It's considered the loudest pop in pro wrestling history. It was the moment Trips finally got over with the fans.
Steve Gomez from Breaking Bad stepping in at 25 seconds and then backing out of shot was a nice Easter egg.
We are filming here, Gomey!
Steve was just bringing Chris and Coach their lunch that he bought for them. Wait a minute...Gomey's buyin? Holy crap. What is it Cinco de Mayo already?
Coach played his role well, I always enjoyed him on screen honestly! & Chris is the man, the best interviewer! He comes off as such a nice guy too like, I just wanna be his best bro and buy him a beer or 2. Great stories always that we might not get in other interviews. Honestly, when you think about hollywood and 'fame' and everything, and how we envy the position some people are at, I can honestly say from watching years of CVV interviews that the man deserves every damn bit of success he's had and more!
The UK will do that to you
😮
And being influenced by Ric Flair lol
70 thousand in booze? No thank you.
We're all a bunch of drunks over there.
As a resident, I can confirm the legitimacy of this comment
Yo John is literally this generations nature boy 🤣
Drinking and then performing with Shawn Micheals? Sounds like the way to do it
No, because Shawn was sober at that time
Missing the somas though lol
I can listen to Coachman’s WWE stories all day! These are great
Coach is such an insightful cool guy. Great set of interviews with him.
John was literally the spongebob meme that night. Alright imma head out
Sounds like a good chat man, can't wait to watch the whole thing, the coach was awesome
It's nuts that Rock was rearranging that match with Hogan on the fly. I don't know how you could even hear yourself the way that crowd was going.
That’s the way every match used to be, from the opening match at a house show to the main event at Mania. There was no rehearsal. Maybe 2-3 spots were identified, but neither guy knew at what point in the match they would come. Everything was on the fly, which is why it looked so fluid and natural when you had two solid workers.
Rock and Hogan both came up calling in the ring, so they were able to adjust. It was a big match to have to do that in, but it was nothing either one hadn’t done before.
Testament to his exceptional in-ring skills and ability to tell a captivating story. He’s sharp, focused and dedicated. That’s the GOAT.
That is a legendary Monday night RAW match!
That 2007 HBK/Cena hour long match on Raw in London was EPIC. That London Crowd was 100% behind HBK giving him the loudest cheers you'll ever hear and HBK won the match clean as well which you never saw during that time when Cena was at his absolute peak.
It was better than their WrestleMania 23 match
Hang on wait that was in London?? That episode of raw after Wrestlemania 23
@@master-of-mind5881 yes, it was a few weeks after WrestleMania 23. The Raw was on April 23rd, WrestleMania was on April 1st.
I was going to say "how tf did they make it from Detroit to London THAT fast" 🤣
Always loved the coach. Cracked me up every week.
DX return in 06 is still one of the most iconic moments I think about during Coach’s run especially since he was beefing with them at the time 😂😂😂
God damn flair, fleece the hell out cena 😂😂😂
Coach had the best theme lol
Finally I joint the dots.
During the infamous WWE 2K13, Ric Flair revelead that Cena was not used to drink before that night
I always enjoyed Coachman. I wish he actually got to wrestle more or at the very least be an actual manager (not General Manager) for someone either up and coming or already established star
One of the best matches ever! Wish Sean won that night. Still remember watching it as a kid. Funny knowing these lil backstage details lol
Shawn did win I think? Cena throws him for the FU (or AA) and Shawn lands on his feet and takes his head off with Sweet Chin Music I think for the win
HBK won the match and had that entire London crowd erupting in cheers for him when he won.
I always remember when HHH tore his acl and we got those dope U2 beautiful day videos of his recovery and return. Dude came back so jacked it was insane lol. He had the new motorhead mix to his theme
now this is an interesting interview, best one I've seen in a long time with NEW stories that have not been told 100 times before......
The Wrestlemania where he fought the Undertaker and he was sitting in the crowd, he had a beer in his hand I said something on Twitter or wherever, I thought it was a weird thing to show on TV. I thought, obviously, he wasn't actually drinking before a match, number one, and you would never want to show an image of someone drinking before a match, especially him. A guy who was sitting right behind him replied that it was roughly his ninth beer. He drank several beers before his match at *Wrestlemania with the Undertaker.*
Hogan would request beer be put in his locker room during shows. I think a lot of wrestlers drink beer, as the environment is probably a party most of the time while backstage .
Cena has a freakish ability to put away alcohol. According to some former Red Sox players, he’s basically the living version of Legolas in Return of the King. People are passing out around him and John is like “Damn…starting to catch a buzz”.
@@LRM5195That was in WCW and was absolutely true. Hogan would have two cases of Miller Lite in cans on ice in his dressing room/trailer.
@@zlinedavid Yes!
@@zlinedavid Cena is a heavyweight, a big man so he can definitely put a lot down.
"Now Coach, dance the Charleston!"
Coach is so great man
That match single handedly got me back into wrestling
Love the old stuff
I’m telling you, pro wrestlers and talent involved in the product are some of the best storytellers I’ve ever heard
I gotta find the time to watch the full episode. I Love Johnathan Coachman, and one could argue he’s just as influential to the success of the WWF/E as Jr & King or even Michael Cole
The Stone Cold & Coach Dry County Segment was one of the best.
Wow, drinking nonstop for 9 days and then off to a 60-minute iron man match, which became a classic that's seriously impressive
COACH!!!!! ❤️
Did anyone else see that ghost at 27 sec mark? Creepy shit lolll
that story with the Rock flipping the match with Hogan is absolutely insane. talk about knowing how the business works.
Yeah back then Cena could do that, he was still young(not saying he’s old now) but let him try and drink for 9 days straight and go have a 60 minute match now in his 40’s. 😂
But he was not alcoholic
Drinking 9 days and fighting 60 min match against champion fighter
In front of thousands of people and millions of people watching you on tv that's crazy
He could prolly still do it and still have a great match. Cuz being older he has more tolerance and is in great shape so he would still be able to put on a great match. Can’t doubt these types of dudes. They are built different. Specially if he’s drinking with stone cold and taker at the times. Lol
Nah he won't, he's bow branded baby face that does make a wish stuff, he will never try to do that He can't be heel ever
Actually HHH returned 2 nights before in Binghamton. Loudest cheer ever
SOooooo Underatted as a professional. Here are your flowers. 💐
Coach is the true G of this story
The rivalry between John and coach
I use to love to hate Coach. Thank you for all that you've given. Future hall of famer.
Coach is my guy! 🔥
Subbed!!
Cool story Coach made that match that more outstanding
delivery guy decided to himself if those two women can walk across well by golly i can too.
That cena hbk rematch made me appreciate the wrestling aspect of wwe, when I was younger I always enjoyed the entertainment more but now that I’m older that match holds up to me as one of the best of all time
On Rock changing the match based on the crowd reaction, that's such a lost art, like calling matches on the fly
Love coachhhh👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
That match was awesome.
Coach is one of the first to actual state numbers
OMG I'll never forget that hour long Cena/HBK match. I was there 2007 in London Earl's Court Arena. We had no idea we was about to witness a long great match 😎
Facts💯
Triple H’s return at MSG was intense.
Nature boy had john paying for drinks 😂 wooo
😂😂😂Vince has no off switch
Cena a real champ I’m barely holdin on at work after ONE day of drinking lol
400k bonus for 10 day tour is crazy
Shout out to the guy who wanders into the frame at 0:25 and awkwardly ducks back out lol
when you run with flair, be ready and tough!
Man I can’t drink non stop for two days .. those some bad mamajamas 😂
I have to go back and watch that Ironman match on RAW. I never noticed anything unusual with Cena during the match. He did a good job handling his business despite the night of drinking beforehand. It reminds me of the Denzel Washington movie called "Flight".
It wasnt an Ironman, or quite 60 minutes (bell to bell is 55:49), but yeah, its an impressive feat after hearing that story.
Drinking for nine days straight... or as we call it in the UK, a quiet couple of weeks.
If there's anyone who could carry a young Cena through a long post drinking binge match, it's sober HBK. The man knows from experience.
My favorite Raw match of all time
The pride of McPherson, KS!
I never knew hbk and cena had a head up a day before their 1 hour match. I always thought it was the day of the show that they string together because they decided to suspend orton.
Flair was setting Cena up for absolute failure lol..
Jonathan John Cena
This is a really funny story that unfortunately made me realize that we're SO FAR into the future, that John Cena is retiring so now we're going to find out all the funny behind the scenes shit that happened, like the Undertaker who is retired and now has a UA-cam channel chronically all these great stories. Vince McMahon is not in charge anymore. We are currently living through the end of a generation.
What if Vince did a podcast ?
@@BakedNConfused sheeeeit dude, I think about it all the time. There are two instances in all of wrestling history that I think about, and you just pointed one out. The other one is how podcasts came too late for Bobby Heenan to consider one.
Remember when coach had a match and good ol JR said "look at his ass"? And his pants literally said coach on them 😂😂😂
Only 9 days 😂… geesh
Hell I drank one night for 6 hours straight in college and I was so drunk that the alcohol was coming out the pores of my body, the following morning I had to work the track meet for Xtra credit for class, remind you I'm a student Asst Coach for the basketball team. Yet I reak of alcohol. But to hear of Cena doing this for 9 days, that's rediculous!! I'm wowed by that
cena is like 200 pounds

Cena is a beast. He's trained since he's a kid
One night a friend and I went out for drinks and we drank for , funny enough, 6 hours straight as well. Unfortunately for me, only 1 of us had to go straight to work after that and I’m still surprised how I made it thru a full shift over night. 🤪
@@protoman2260you survived it somehow 😅
This guy needs to be doing voice overs
As a guy that had a full quad tear, followed by surgery and rehab. i can say Hunter coming back in 8 months is crazy!
1:33 I’ve never heard an arena louder than that.
Clearly he hasn’t heard when Dominick Mysterio tries to talk on the mic 😂
They did not square off and trash talk for an entire 10 minutes to start the match.
Yo at 42 seconds guy in background pulled a coach. He peeked then hid, then as other people walked across he got the courage to cross too lol
Flippin heck. I was 5th row that night john did that match and i would never have known!
I didnt hear no 2nd T you good lol
I've said it for years, Coach deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. The Rock should induct him lol
Though I believe he's mentioned before he isn't interested, could be wrong though.
Okay so The coach's description of the events that took place on this tour sparked a question in my head that I've had for quite some time... I've heard wrestlers talk about how they do like a week or two in Europe after a big ppv yet this all happens in between a Sunday show and a Monday night raw. How is this possible? How can a 9 day tour be placed in between what seems to be a day or so? Am I dumb or something?
I never knew the 1hr Cena v HBK match was all because of a rib.
coach is a good dude. He dealt with alot of boo's and fans telling him he sucks a ton but always kept it professional. I remember watching ESPN one day and saw him as an analyst. I was like "Dude! thats the Coach from WWE!"
I saw him on madison square tv after a rangers game and was like what is this wwf guy doing on here?
Imagine having a super hangover then wrestling a match that would be very hard to do
