    Less than 2 minutes long and confirmed exactly what I thought. This is how these videos should be made, thanks!

    10 years of experience working on polaris, I can assure that 9/10 times, the rear cv axles will NOT just slide out. 90% of the time you are going to fight it to death to get them out.

      Yeeeppppp. Just tore the CV axle apart pulling on it trying, I repeat, trying to get it out. The axle shaft pulled out of the CV Joint at the transmission. . . Has not budged. . . Crud. . . I have even put pry bars behind it to try and get it to pop out. Nope. . . Dynamite?

    Replaced my rear bushings this past weekend. It took my over an hour to get the left axle out. Kicked my ass. I was soooo glad the right side only took about 4 pulls.

    Loved your video. We have the Polaris RZR XP 1000 and Wildcat X ATV's and we love them, they are well built and hold up incredibly well on our tour.

    I have a 2013 sportsman 500. Should there be a groove for the ring to sit in? Mine is smooth behind the spline. Does the ring on the axle just lock behind that spline?

    • @Bigkidpowersports
      @Bigkidpowersports  5 років тому

      Yes the set ring just locks past the splines. Pop it in and tug on it.

    Managed to get the axle out without taking the hub off. Took all the bolts out, seems to be hung up on the bushings. Any help? Would be easier to get back in with the hub off. Thanks, Rich.

      @briancayo3908 6 років тому

      Mike Flynn ,I the same situation, I welded two chains and tried pulling with two 3/4 ton trucks in 4wd, ended up just pulling the trucks back and fourth.... at that point I just bought another used one on ebay.

  • @fosgate375

    This video helped a lot.
    When removing the axle from the trans, you're just yanking it hard back towards you, right?

  • @davidbere5723
    @davidbere5723 10 років тому

    Question: How do you make it stay back in? I put mine back with the snap ring, securely seated - and it still pops off when riding.

    • @Bigkidpowersports
      @Bigkidpowersports  10 років тому +1

      Are you sure it was pushed in all the way? There is not a whole lot to them. Do you have the correct shaft?

    • @davidbere5723
      @davidbere5723 10 років тому

      Thanks for reply..I think I got it..if its not fully seated (which required a few good hits with rubber mallet) it wont hold..back to tearing it up :)

      You can pry on it a bit but watch how you touch the case. 2 pry bars so the axle is getting pressure straight out.

    I have a 2014 Sportsman 570 and the rear axle literally snapped in half. So I cant get a grip like you did to pull it out. Any suggestions on how to do it?

      Eps MonsterFilms have any luck on your axle ?????same thing i can't ... pull it out...

    • @epsmonsterfilms144
      @epsmonsterfilms144 9 років тому

      I heard there is a tool that can be used, but it is like $100. I had a friend pull on it and I was able to put a small crow bar behind where the axle goes into the differential. While my friend pulled, I pried. It takes a lot to pull it out.

      Had the same thing happen to mine. What I did was I welded a piece of square tubing onto the round cylinder part near the differential. Then I welded another piece of flat bar to the square tubing so that I could hammer it out. Worked well. Also just an FYI don't buy a cheap after market CV axle. They are not made to specs and some will not stay seated in the diff.

    So any ideas if the new axle will not stay inserted when it starts to turn it backs out.

    • @Bigkidpowersports
      @Bigkidpowersports  7 років тому

      I would start with the easy things (not that you haven't already). Check to make sure that it is the correct axle. Check that the clip is in the axle. Make sure the hole is clean and unobstructed. Maybe grease the splines a little to ensure that the shaft is sliding all the way in.
