Hi, amazing video! Could you make more details with positive settings and my1 with positive film and my2 with BW. Bought ricoh grii few days ago... Thanks in advance
Thanks for watching and sorry for the delayed response. At times I have to catch up to the comments. Thanks for your patience! If you would like more settings for the GR II, please email me and I will give you the EXTENDED RECIPES. info@tahaphoto.com CHEERS!
Your channel is amazing, I hope you get lots of audience in the near future. I found your channel when I search for Ricoh GR II. I love your style of photography. You really convinced me to get the GR II. It would be awesome if you can make a video about beginner's guide on using GRII and your favorite setting. There were not many video out there that teaches you how to use GR II. People are becoming more interested in old camera now a day, which they can be benefit from watching your video. Thank you.
Namol! Many thanks. I love the GRII, it really helped me out in 2017 with my street shots. Great image quality and love the effects feature. I love your suggestion of making a beginner's guide to the GRII. I will work on that now. I wish you much happiness and success in your photography .👍🏼🙏🏽
@@tahaphoto Thank you so much. I will stay tune and wait for the video to come out. Thank you for taking my advice and replying. I wish you have a wonderful day, filled with love and joy ❤️
Bro, this is definitely true, or at least I fully agree with the statement - being better in camera, whether shooting video or stills! I love the post production process but I don't wanna be spending too many hours editing. Not only that, I think aiming to get things right in camera makes you really master your craft and equipment, which we as photographers should all be doing. I find a lot of folk rely heavily on fixing mistakes in post. It's a dope option, don't get me wrong - it can be a life saver for sure, but mastery of the camera is when the camera becomes an extension of ones creative self and we should all embrace the imperfections and not be too precious. This is how we evolve. I appreciate you, your thoughts, photography and content. Peace!
Damn. I appreciate the kind words. 🙏🏽 mastering our most current craft keeps us in the moment, humble and open to learning more. The mistakes along the way are inevitable. Thanks for tuning in.
Great video and absolutely my cup of tea. I have the GRD4 and only use BW high contrast and Positive Film. The latter I just started to love more within the past two years.
Thanks for tuning in, I appreciate it. A GRD4??! The the OG vibes. You were on it early. I only picked up my GRII in 2017. 😭🤣 I never thought effect would be so inspiring but here we are. Enjoy your day!
Awesome, stumbled acrosss this, I have shot through the pandemic I made some bangers on the hasselblad mod with Motorola but I lost it on vacation at a hotel I have the old Ricoh gr, will shoot with that
Great video! I love the high contrast bw effect and it was one of many reasons for me to buy a GR II. Im using it almost pure without any post editing. For me this effect is perfect the way it is straight out the camera.
Hey Moses, high contrast BW effect is great isn't it? That's why I love the GR II, so many options to customize your experience. Thanks for checking out for checking out video🙏🏽
Good and optimistic video! I'm testing waters with GRD III for second week now. Went around Sugar Beach several times (place were my current job is). I could almost see this optimism in the air. People are very open to camera.
A big problem with the positive film effect is the auto white balance, where the photo always ends up looking too blue or too orange. I ended up buying a gray card for fix this. it's not a problem with RAW or when you edit the JPEGs, but when you use the SOOC photo, it's annoying.
Nice vid and pics. Just wondering if your GR II under exposes in daylight? Mine terribly under exposes by 1 to 1.8 stops in the daylight. It's really frustrating and am wondering if I am doing anything wrong or my settings need some adjusting. My exposure comp is at 0 and the Dynamic range is set to off. I have tried everything.
Hey Jorge, thanks for the kind words. I can't recall having "underexposed" issues in daylight, harsh light situations. Are you shooting manual, AV? In my experimenting and readings online Ricoh GR II has a base ISO that it locks in no matter what you set I believe (i.e. if I select ISO 100, the GR2 set it to ISO 320). Read this thread as it may better answer your questions... I have a feeling I can't articulate the solution for you as well as this: www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4245434 also check these GR specs for more help: www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/DXOPDR.htm Let me know your thoughts. Again, the GR II is amazing and very picky! lol Let me know!
Hey Leonard. Yes, that's possible. Make sure your settings in-camera are set to shoot ( j-peg & RAW). This way, when you bring those files into say Lightroom, you'll notice that the jpeg file has the filter applied to it, BUT the RAW file will be untouched (no filter applied). Does that make sense? 🙏🏽
Hey Ryan, thanks for the kind words. Regarding DRC on the GRII, I keep my setting to "MEDIUM". This translates to a lower ISO (200). When you use "STRONG" or "AUTO" the default ISO is 400. I guess that's cool if you're shooting RAW and want to make adjustments in post but I prefer not to. "Medium" DRC is helpful when shooting JPEGs and using the EFFECT Mode. I feel you jpegs need all the help they can get. Hope this helps. One love.
When you did the video shots at the beginning, I preferred the color and style more than the pictures. Can I ask how you did the video shots and thank you. Are they off the Ricoh GR II too?
Peace Scott, thanks for your honest thoughts. The video was shot on my Samsung Galaxy S20 5G. 60fps slowed to fit a 24fps timeline. All Snaps are made with my Ricoh GR II. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽 Do you shoot with the Ricoh?
Rosshy, thanks for watching. WB depends on the light I'm working with. When shooting with my Ricoh GRII I tend to use auto WB because lighting in street tends to change depending how close or far from the subject you are. Ideally, if it's super sunny I'm at f/16, iso 100-400. Overcast, f/8 iso 400. Again, auto can sometimes be your friend.🙏🏽🙏🏽 hope that helps.
Thank you for the video! Re RAWS - actually you can take a shot and develop the RAW within the camera with any effect chosen. Just double checked this on my GR II :) I mean, there is definitely a point in going jpg to deal with creative limitations, but I think this thing ^ about RAWs is worth mentioning :)
Victor! Thanks for the insight! Since publishing this video I've learned a fee other things about the GRII so I'll be doing an update video to this in the near future! I really appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Don't you love the GRII?! What's your fave effect?!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Good question. You first select the effect you want to use. Then take pictures. The effect will automatically be on every picture you take until you change that effect.
