Kodak TMax vs JCH StreetPan (Black and White Street on FILM )
Переглядів 5355 місяців тому
#filmphotography #kodaktmax400 #jchstreetpan400 Ok, so I finally made time to shoot a roll of Japan Camera Hunter (Streetpan 400)... But wait it gets better! I also squeezed in a roll of Kodak TMax 400. You could say it was a little bit of a comparison vibe in the end. So, I put the (JCH) in my trusty Nikon Lite Touch AF P&S 28mm, while the (TMax) would be in my Ricoh R10 30mm (side note... the...

HARSH LIGHT Street Photography- 5 Tips
Переглядів 1,2 тис.7 місяців тому
#streetphotography #ricohgriii #ricohgr Why do photographers hate harsh light? Well, mainly because the images produced won't be as "warm" or "majestic" as a classic sunrise/sunset image. The sun is just too high in the sky to make moody results. It will take work, reps, and patience, my friends! There are, however, many benefits to shooting midday, and I do list off a few in this video BUT the...

Street Photography TIPS in a RECESSION
I also own a Ricoh gr I and I have to admit that the positive film effect is wonderfull. Plus I don't know why but my raw files from this camera in capture one are really hard to edit and look like shit (I know how to edit rax I do edit my fujifilm and Canon raw files). My ricoh gr is a jpeg machine and that's ok
This made me want both now lol
😂 😵😂
This is the first of your videos I've seen, and found it leagues above the general content on UA-cam. Thanks for such a compact and focused presentation of what you are trying to accomplish and how you go about it. Your use of landscape with the Instax Mini format worked pretty well -- quite the challenge! I like how you describe observing a scene, and the movement of people or birds or traffic in a way that tells a story. I wonder if #7 with the car and the tree might have worked much better in portrait. Finally, it would be interesting to see this minimalist approach used in a diptych or triptych / portrait format with the Instax Mini.
Jay! Thank you for taking the time to watch this video. Like most of my videos, it takes a lot to put together cuz I also want to be present when making the photo. Once you add video to the mix man, it can test your patience. 🤷🏽♂️ Overall, I'm happy when ppl can connect on some level with the vids. You may be right with # 7, but decisions had to be made😂. Are you a fan of the instax? Cheers!
Thank you so much!!!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Solid stuff bro!!! Keep doing your thing 🤙
Thank you, Stephan!
Glad you addressed the excess strap. Great review! That green/olive is sick.
Jon, my bad, I missed this comment. I'm happy you you found the strap info useful. At first, I was a little concerned until I dug into the logic of the strap set up if I just took my time. What type of bag are you currently using? There are so many on the market. Thanks again for watching 🙏🏽
Thanks Dude!
You're welcome 😊
@@tahaphoto 🤩
Pulled the trigger on the 28 thanks bro
That's dope. Keep us posted in your experience and results
Hey Taha, where are you based? Canada or USA?
I'm based in Canada! 🙏🏾
thanks for mentioning the strap thing, i already had this bag and was wondering what to do about that sliding piece, thank you
You're welcome. I was stressin about it til I played with it and did some research. Happy I could be of help to you. Thanks for watching 🙏🏾
Great video!! Does it fit an 11” iPad?
Thank you for watching. I appreciate you. The 11" iPad may be a tight fit. The length of the sling is about 12.5", and the height, about 8.5". The iPad is roughly H 9.7" x W 7". So it could work but I'm not sure about the wiggle room.🫡
Great video, congrats in the partnership!
Thank you so much.
normally not into camo but that is one sick jacket sweater combo
Ha! Thank you. Feel I've had the jacket forever. The sweater was a last-minute "keep me warmer" in the basement office vibe.😄
Amazing video, I want to go for the GRiii x but I’m still debating whether to get the HDF or the normal one
Thanks for watching, I appreciate you. GRIII X is good and plenty. The HDF featured gives images a more dreamy look , imo that's not a need but a nice to have. I can do that in post with a lot more control. Save you buck$. Hope that helps.🙏🏾
Do you prefer your GRII over your GRIII?
I got the olive , bag is worth the $30 it costs , no shoulder pad so loading it up it cuts into your neck , very well thought out storage and material repels water well . I would like to see deeper deviders , putting lenses in lenses down doesn’t offer much support for even a 50mm 1.8 full frame , I think it’s a bag on its way to being fantastic that’ll be there after a few redesigns , meanwhile there’s no reason not to own one while it’s this cheap .
Happy to hear that it might be of service to you. A solid sling at a good price is a win.🙏🏾
Which one would you recommend?
Both have their pros. I would recco the th 28mm if you want the option of going wide with room to crop in.🙏🏾
Sorry if this is silly but what film did you use? Going on a trip to japan soon and love to capture a look like this
Not a silly question at all. I used a roll of Kodak Gold 200. Another favourite is Kodak color plus 200. I hope you enjoy Japan!
Well Done!
Many thanks!
Still like my gr3 somehow a bit wide more flexible on my subjects...
Yes. The GR3 gives you that leeway. Happy I'm able to swap back and forth🙏🏽
Amazing portraits. Do you edit them or is it just your recipes? Stunning!
Thanks! I use my recipes. I also do some touch up editing in LIGHTROOM. 😊🙏🏽
@@tahaphoto thanks for replying, do you mind sharing a video of how you edit in Lightroom as well. :)
is it possible to wear this bag as a waist bag? I do a lot of climbing and jumping while photographing, and I cannot have my gear flapping around, but I would love to wear it as a fanny back over my back side. Do you think that's possible? Maybe if it's not too big of an ask, would snap a photo or you wearing it like that?
Daniel! Great question. Tbh, it doesn't stay balanced or keep its tightness around your waist like a dedicated fanny would (basically shaped for the midsection). I tried it. Slings perform their best cross-body. Good weight distribution, longer than usual strap. Now, is it possible to use it as a fanny? Yes, but once the weight exceeds a certain amount it will slide down. Just my thoughts. I hope that helps. I appreciate you watching. 🙏🏽
@@tahaphoto thanks a lot! I'll get a dedicated waist bag then... it's hard to find tho :/
My first camera aged 13 was a Kodak brownie which I treasured. I now know what I am buying myself for Xmas😜. I hope that I can get some monochrome 35mm film though 😢. Go Kodak.
Amazing! Grab a roll of ilford hp5plus or budget friendly Kentmere 400. Both are solid bw film. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
standard tripod screw… bro a 1/4 inch😭 u makin me cry ova here
Скажите, пожалуйста, а эта пленка только черно-белые фото или цветные печатаются на ней? Или нужно ставить режим ЧБ на фотоаппарате и снимать на эту пленку ?
Is it an AV file?
Shot my first roll. Halloween lights, Canon A-1. WOW! Have not tried it in daytime yet.
Ah ok. Nice! Nighttime cinestill will always be beautiful but I wanted to experiment . Thanks for watching!
I've just discovered your channel and look really interesting. Also, i asked you in a mail for the extended recipes. Hope you can help me, thanks!
My friend! Thanks for watching. I believe I've emailed you the recipes.🙏🏽🙏🏽
@tahaphoto yes, i received them! Thanks a lot! I did a few shot yesterday with the Soul Searching and they came out really amazing with that signature!
@martinohesse so happy to hear that
Great video. I generally just use the presets that come with the camera. I’m lazy. Changing all the necessary settings seems awfully long winded. I think having owned the Sigma fp with its ability to change settings using QR codes has spoiled me. I’m hoping Ricoh could implement this feature in the future. Imagine having unlimited profiles stored on your phone just ready to go
Ordered for Sydney Australia ... Already 20% off so your code didn't work but if they ever go back to full price should work... Got the grey... They look great mate 👍🏼
Ah, ok, nice. Hope you're happy with the grey. I appreciate you watching. 🙏🏽
Hi, I'm deciding on this green version because that doesn't seem to have the faux leather portion as compared to the black and grey ones. Is that true?
Sorry for the delayed response ! Thank you for watching and for the question. The outer material on the green is made of Nylon , waterproof. Water resistant. I didn't see any faux leather. I can't speak on the black and grey bags but it would make sense that it would be the same. Does that help?
@@tahaphoto Heya, I bought the green version. Apparently the other versions all has the black faux leather which I'm not a fan of. 😂
@jaycstudiossg oh wow. Ok. You happy with yours in green? I love mine. It's becoming more malleable, I loved the worked in feel.👍🏽🙏🏽
Is the bag comfortable against the back when fully loaded with a larger camera and lens? Is the backside padded?
Great question. Yes, it's as comfortable as a boxier bad body can be. Remember you're increasing the weight when adding lenses and cam bodies. So your shoulder will notice that before your back. It sits well on the back tho.🙏🏽
It comes in only 1 colour?
It comes in 3 colours. Black, grey, green.🙏🏽
I bought one and it's on the way... Had to go for the silver one coz I recently bought the Sony a7c ii, just in case it pairs well
Brilliant. I'm gonna scoop the blk one as my back up . The olive is beautiful but blk will be a nice low key addition. I appreciate you watching 🙏🏽
The never ending search for the perfect camera bag. I like this one. Adding it to my collection!
I like your approach. It really is never-ending. But this one does feel good so far. Straight, no chaser 🙏🏽 appreciate you watching 🙏🏽🫡
Saw the price and didn’t think twice. In for one.
That's what's I'm saying. No brainer imo. Appreciate you watching 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Would love if it had an optional strap to put around the belly for biking so it doesn"t fall to the front.
Good point. That would be helpful. I found when tightened it stays snug. I also snapped it around my waist for what it's worth. ✌🏽✌🏽
I’ve been looking at slings for a while. Decided to give this one a try! Thanks man!
That's awesome. Yeah, I feel I was settling for a while. I finally feel comfortable with this sling. I appreciate you watching 🫡✌🏽
I've been looking for something sleek for my Fuji X-PRO3 and lenses and this ticks most of the boxes. Thanks!
@scottupton8661 I think so. In general, If I keep a prime on the body plus a prime zoom packed, I'm good. Any more than that can slow me down. I wanna move. Anyway, I appreciate you watching. 🙏🏽🫡
Is it still worth it in 2024? Just a beginner here ✌
So after you take the photo you can add “efect” ?
Good question. You first select the effect you want to use. Then take pictures. The effect will automatically be on every picture you take until you change that effect.
@@tahaphoto Thanks for answer 😃
Hey brother, solid work!! Just asking…are these b/w filters already preset in the camera or is editing needed to be done?
Thank you! Great question. The images in this video are made using custom "recipes" or presets, shot with the ricoh gr ii. Straight up jpegs. Grit City BW is the name. This recipe is a high contrast bw recipe but I still tweak in post. Maybe a little grain and negative clarity. Hope this helps.🙏🏽
Wow! Pls drop this recipe 😍🙏🏻
Already dropped. Email me. its yours, free. info@tahaphoto.com 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
is the kodak ektar h35n manual 4-5 times or something i dont know how to use half frame
Hi, what do you mean " manual 4-5 times"? I l show you how half frame works in the video. Pls watch 🙏🏽
Street photogaphy in form of people presence in it is never going to generate enough income. All who are big on it were, are teaching and so on. My ex-client got good pension from TFO, has small studio at Dundas in DT and do some $$$$$ sales of some specific "street" in very specific form to specific customers via specific channel (not via web).
Kostya! Great to hear your perspective. You're right, it tends to be a slow, and small return if "street" is your only income source. Staying specific/ niché, I believe is the best way to grow! That's why youtube monitization has been a great first step for me to more independence. Client work continues to be my main source, followed by brand deals (that align with my values). I will add tutorials, zines, books, more prints. I'm optimistic about the future of photography. We'll see!
I love these videos so much. You're making fun stuff happen, that's for sure. I love imagining you typing the O ...space space space space space space R for that.
Haha! Thx, Chris. I'm just throwing spaghetti at the wall , see what sticks. I appreciate you watching 🙏🏽
My friends. Is photography a hobby, business or both for you?
I say both
@de.vizuals ok. Cool.
Straight and honest. I have big family, detached, paid off house. I never took photogaphy as paid job, even if I was offered to. Because my profession generates more stable and bigger income. It also allows me to travel for free and take pictures in places which aren't cheap to stay at own money.
@@kostyafedot551 Great strategy, Kostya! Stable income wins if you know how to balance your time and energy after work.
I've been using Ilford Delta 100 B&W 120 roll film for the past 3 years. It has just the right amount of contrast with detail in the highlights and shadows where you need it, it's not too expensive, and consistent results. I have my negatives scanned and with only a minor adjustments in photoshop, the images look awesome. You might want to try ISO 400 for street photography. Nice to see you shooting B&W! Keep the great videos rolling! 😎✌📸
Thanks for adding to the convo, Rod. I think you're right, iso 400 would make more sense for street. Only way to know is to try it.✌🏽🙏🏽
@@tahaphoto maybe you can have a chance to try it out? I guarantee that you will not be disappointed! 👍
@rodstewart7035 I'll def give it a shot
Thank you Taha for sending me the email with the complete settings, without asking for anything in return, you were kind and special, I wish you all the best. <3
You're very welcome. I appreciate you watching 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I love how unassuming and functional the design is. It's no blingy leica or fuji, as good as those cameras are they stand out too much for my liking. No excuse not to take it everywhere with you and that's really the most important thing about it for me.
You hit every nail on the head. Low key gear speaks to my personality. I want my work to speak for me. There is no need to sell you with words. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. 🙏🏽
