great video!! and thank you for sharing your recipes. I make my own simulations in camera RAW but its nice to have them already in camera. thanks again. GR Baby!!!
Been following you for a while now & I’ve enjoyed your content, and your chill delivery style. Your focus on the philosophy behind photography vs gear reminds me of Sean Tucker tbh and makes your content relatable and universal… I came here from your IG looking for a starting point with my Ricoh GR and I’m happy to report that your recipes work exactly as you wrote them out on this older camera. I’m really looking forward to getting out and experimenting more with this awesome little camera. Thank you for creating this awesome content for us out here in internet-land.
Joel! I'm so happy we connected. The GR has really brought a lot of ppl together. Thanks for the kind words as well. I really don't like too much gear, it's actually true. Strictly the essentials for commercial work. Plus, "less is more" keeps you on your toes. I hope you enjoy the GRII and the new recipes, thx for the feedback 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
whats up taha! just got the griiixue last week and absolutely love it! did a shooting sesh with it on sunday and got the settings almost dialed in. been just taking in this camera on YT and your video popped up! love seeing you killing it homie! we should link up one day and catch up! 💯
Hey taha. I know this is an older video but thank you for the recipes! I’ve been looking to shoot more b&w and loving your grit city recipe for it. Just a few question: are you shooting primarily with full press snap or also using spot af to half press the shutter? Also you have your exposure compensation set to a specific value. I’m assuming you still adjust that value as needed? Half clicking seems to not adjust the exposure properly a lot of times for me and it shows an !AE notification on my screen when doing so and is too dark in exposure
Peace! Thank you for watching and for scooping the recipes.🙏🏽 You have some great questions. Regarding the GRII full press + exposure comp adjusted as I see fit. With that said, underexposing goes hand in hand with every shot. My standard range (-0.3 to -1.7). Half snap is a cool feature that I've used, but it tends to make the camera overthink and ultimately miss the exposure mark (not always) but that's why I full press. A simple exposure/ half press/full press test / is to shoot in "P" mode. The camera will give you all the "best" settings and a good reference that you can compare to when shooting manual/Tv or Av. Does this make sense?
I came for ricoh content, i got the answer, cool. Then i got more question cause you are dem good.. What camera you use to film this video please? Thanks!
Ai Kecil! Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏽. To answer your question, I film, record all outdoor video footage on my Samsung Galaxy S20 5G smartphone - talking head (4k, 24 fps) - and b roll (4k, 60fps). If you watch any videos of me in-studio, I record on Panasonic G7 (4k, 24fps). I hope that helps.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽✌🏽
Chris! Thank you. Yes, the GR2 is 16.2 mp ... now 10mp is pushing it in terms of quality. It's low. But if you have great light and a tripod. 10mp is enough. Hope that helps
Great question. I never used the flash in my street photography. But I've shot with flash when doing event photography, so I have an idea of ideal settings.... Go with the Manual Mode setting, 'full snap' on or set your ideal Snap Focus preference. Aperture in the f/5.6 to f/8 range ISO needs a push, so maybe ISO 1600. For Shutter, 1/160 - 1/125 is a good bet. For slow shutters 1/30- 1/15 work too. Try these baselines and then experiment 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hey Alejandro! My email is working fine.😊 I received your email about 30min ago. I've sent over my recipes. I hope you enjoy them! All feedback is welcome.🙏🏽

Man, I just love the design or ricoh gr, wish sony made cameras with similar design
Yeah, Ricoh has a great thing going regarding the GR series. Sony may too big the niche down like that. 🤷🏽♂️

My friend! 🙏🏽 🙏🏽🙏🏽 thanks for watching
Tah is your GR II the 16.2 megapixel? Would I get similar results with a 10 megapixel GR? Love your content by the way.
Chris! Thank you. Yes, the GR2 is 16.2 mp ... now 10mp is pushing it in terms of quality. It's low. But if you have great light and a tripod. 10mp is enough. Hope that helps
It's also a different type of sensor - CCD on the 10mp GR versus the CMOS on the GR I and II, so the settings probably won't translate perfectly.
Hey what’s your recommendation on gr2 point and shoot settings with the flash feature on?
Great question. I never used the flash in my street photography. But I've shot with flash when doing event photography, so I have an idea of ideal settings....
