dirty filthy rng manipulator
@@wokealarm6203 the dirtiest, filthiest, cheater in the biz
As a shiny hunter I have huge respect for RNGers. It’s a totally different skill set, whereas my hobby consists of bashing my head at a wall until it gives way :D
It actually means a lot when I get comments like this. Thank you. 🥲
This is the best way anyone had ever described shiny hunting 😂😂
I respect your grind a hell of a lot more😅 us RNG abusers are just the shiny lovers who lost patience
Amazing video! If anyone is willing to take up Jefes idea of trying out RNG, I always suggest starting from your favorite game in the series! Replay it with a new twist and discover something new about it to love.
I wanna thank both of you guys ! Your Yt channels got me into this !
Starting this journey in April, moving slowly at first, I now feel confident with it, and my gen4 dex is almost complete !
Wishing you the best :)
^^ you guys thought me how to rng when I was over soft resetting I know have multiple gen 3 competitive teams but now I need someone to battle against 😂
That is what I did after watching your videos. Got addicted to it
@@pineco74 legit just fun to do all round
You are the one who introduced me to this concept!
Honestly, RNG manipulation is just more fun in my opinion. I've been a huge shiny hunter for a long time and when I learned about RNG manipulation while desperate hunting a turtwig in platinum (months with no luck), it became a new way to approach these hunts and introduce new challenges. Hell, I even pulled out my old gameboy micro and did some repairs so that I could finally get a shiny mew in emerald (not gonna lie, I was a but teary-eyed when I got it). Thanks to RNG manipulation, I've been playing old games that hadn't seen the light of day in years.
RNG gave new life to how I play Pokemon, I started a few years ago and still do it to this day. I'm currently in the process of RNGing a team of competitive baby Pokemon in HGSS for use in Battle Revolution's Little Cup mode (Battle Revolution in general is a lot more fun when you can actually build and use optimal teams).
Seeing people work on teams for the outside games is awesome, competitive baby Pokémon team just sounds so fun
🔥
Omg I got chills up my spine when the battery message happened and those lights and sound effects you added because that encapsulated exactly how I felt the first time I ever saw that!! Haha, great job! Amazing video, too~
My favourite thing about RNG manipulation is the interactive nature of it, instead of mindlessly resetting the game over and over for hours.
its like a fun minigame!
Cool, now you do math before resetting for hours mindlessly 😂
True 😅
I really love how what was supposed to be just a simple child's game ended up having huge meta theory and can be played in so many incredibly unique ways. Thay is the true heart of pokemon. Choice.
Lol that's so corny
@@92larsko who r u
Incredible video, I decided to try RNG manipulation a few years ago and could never come back, it was the same feeling as when I first discovered competitive pokemon, it's like another game inside the game :D
The pokemon RNG community is amazing, thanks to people like you and blisy I can enjoy the games I already love even more.
Beautiful explanation. I have my shiny Arceus because of your tutorials and efforts. RNG manipulation truly is science and anyone calling it hacking is ignorant of the effort and passion that the community has put into getting legitimate shiny pokémon. Thank you for making such high quality videos on the topic.
2 questions
1. Does this work exactly the same in every next generation game
2. Is there a way to find current save’s whole trainer ID for the manipulation or is it require a new save where a specific trainer ID is targeted?
@@grydon6422 For the second question, there can be ways to find the whole trainer ID but it usually requires you to find a legitimate shiny and then check your game's seed or RNG status. "im a blisy" has a video detailing how to do this in Sword and Shield.
I literally stopped genning after learning rng manipulation in Sword. It certainly takes longer, but it's more satisfying knowing me holding my turbo button for 62 minutes is what got my square shiny rare mark Magmortar, etc
@@grydon6422 It really depends on the game, but sword and shield are REALLY easy depending on your target.
@@Ayyem93 the only time I Gen anymore is if it’s for a breeding project where I need an ability on something that is super hard/rare to get… but now that ability capsules (and whatever the HA version of the item is) exist, I don’t even need it for that haha
Little did we know, this journey would last our lifetimes!
I was 10 when I first started back in 2007, I'm 26 now!
Right, I started with Pokémon yellow probably at the same age, im almost 31 and RNGing right fucking now lol
Viewing the understanding, uncovering and application of deeply complex and well hidden mathematics, instead of dismissing it as "random", as cheating, just leaves me at a loss for words.
You've sold me, man. I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend. Best of luck (haha) on your own RNG hunts!
Did you do it?
5:03 I bought a Pokémon Gold cartridge about 10 years ago and the battery is still alive, but some parts of the audio don't sound off anymore.
Wonderful video, rng manipulation revived my love for pokemon 4 years ago. As you mentioned there are so many new things to do that you wouldn't normally do.
absolutely brilliant video! I'm a bigtime shiny hunter and I couldn't agree more that RNG is just another method to obtain them. while it's true that if someone who manipulated RNG was trying to pass off a shiny as full odds luck is kinda shady, at the end of the day a shiny is only as important as you make it. that's why I spend weeks and months on end hunting, because the strife is what makes the shiny worth it to me. a couple months back I finally got a shiny Cranidos after 104hrs in BDSP, and it's special to me because I know what went into it, not just purely because of its rarity. Great video dude and I'm definitely gonna hit up the stream from now on!
This found me at a perfect time. I played gen 3-6 ish growing up and Pokémon slowly lost charm over that time. As an adult, I started learning about IVs, EVs, natures, etc. That made the games a lot more interesting and deep for me, as I thought they were super simple baby games. I just started a fresh save of Platinum for the nostalgia, and within a day or two found yours & blisy’s videos about RNG manipulation and I haven’t been more interested in diving headfirst into Pokémon like this since I was little. Can’t wait to learn more and try it out!!
Did you get a shiny?
I love how RNG manipulate is exchanging luck for skill, even if manipulation is the unintended way unlike luck
Calling it cheating makes no sense, you are doing everything you can with what the game gives you to not cheat. Huge respect
The thing is, you are working with glitches and guides that work with those glitches...
But it's not the kinda cheating that matters because it doesn't mess with an outside source like you mentioned...
@@TheDeathmail no glitches just working with broken hardware and a calculator
@@TheDeathmail Glitch/bug exploitation is exploiting the game not behaving as the programmers intended. RNG manipulation is exploiting the game working EXACTLY as the programmers intended.
I just watched this again and it's so good lol
Quality video Papa and definitely rings true for me. My ‘second finding’ of Pokemon was when I played through Soul Silver, RNG manipping at every possible chance - starter, the gift pokemon you can receive at the second? Pokémon centre, all legends, any other gifts etc
Also just wanted to say you’re one of a couple of creators who have inspired me to start my own content!
Succeeded in my First RNG Arceus hunt yesterday, thanks to your video on it!
Thank you! Keep producing amazing content! See you in Scarlet and Violet!
RNG manupulation is SO technical and hard, if you get it to work you DESERVE that shiny.
As someone who has done both rng manipulation and shiny hunting and has enjoyed both i think they both have their merits.
Rng manipulation requires a lot more skill and knowledge about the games and I love learning about how people reverse engineered the games to understand how the rng works. Ive only done it once to get the cute charm glitch on platinum and it took just over 3 hours of attempts for me to hit the seed I needed so I really respect people who put their time and effort into rng manipulation.
Shiny hunting on the other hand is about the journey and its all gambling. And personally i really enjoy that, it can be really thrilling when you finally find a shiny that you've spent weeks to months looking for in the older games and that is what has me hooked.
Love to see people who can appreciate both methods. I've also done both over the years, but nothing beats the feeling I get when I conquer a super difficult RNG for a competitive shiny that takes me days of attempts. It feels like magic and science at the same time.
Honestly, I feel like it's super fascinating how much information and research goes into something like this. Luck is boring. Knowledge is exciting. Keep on going!
I used Blisy's video about the Cute Charm glitch and have been loving picking up Soul Silver again, and pickex up Pokemon Channel to try out the RNG for shiny Jirachi! Its been really fun going back and trying new stuff with old games aha
A little late to catching this video in particular, but I'm in the middle of doing a Nuzlocke + Living Dex quest through the entire series. I've been playing since Pokemon Yellow when I was 6 years old, and finally decided I wanted to work on a Living Form Dex, with the added personal caveat that I want to catch every single Pokemon (when and where possible) from their original games (so Gen 1 from RBY, Gen 2 from GSC, etc.), and not just all from later generations. To keep it interesting, I'm doing Hardcore Nuzlockes along the way, since I've always wanted to do challenge runs like that too (wanna do a Monotype Bug run at some point).
That said, once I finish my Nuzlockes, I start working on my Living Dex, as well as do any Shiny Hunting I feel like doing along the way, and while I've gotten some really cool stuff, like every single Odd Egg Shiny, and even a couple Shiny Pokemon transferred up from YELLOW, it really exploded for me with RNG manipulation in Gen 3. Your videos, as well as imablisy's, have been instrumental to me. I was familiar with RNG manipulation already, to some extent, having practiced it a bit back in Pokemon Black ages ago. But Gen 3 manipulation is another beast, especially with A.C.E. added in, and it's SO FUN!! I got myself a legit Shiny Deoxys and Shiny WISHMKR Jirachi as well, plus my own little Yard Rat!
Anyway, thanks for all the cool stuff, dude! I love your videos!
god the WISHMKR Jirachi was one of the most exciting shinies i've gotten in my whole life. Watching your Quick and Dirty guide on it was what made me want to pick up RNG Manipulation.
Loved this video. It was a joy rediscovering gen 3 with tutorials from you & Blisy
God, this takes me back. I remember learning the ropes of RNG manipulation with Gen 7 as my start, and that has been my preferable game to do RNG in. But, the learning curve, as quite nuts, and I am not exactly a person with quite a lot of rhythm, if shiny 0 speed IV Stakataka taking me a month is anything to go by. And I must say, you have done quite a phenomenal job explaining the inner machinations of how RNG manipulation works, and why it is legal within the competitive scene. It always baffles me to this day that people still see this as cheating, and lazy, regardless that mastering this craft can take many, many days. Specially if you do this sort of stuff across different generations, as not all games are created exactly equal in how you can approach it. And even then, there’s always something new hiding in the corner, for many years all we could RNG manipulate in Sword and Shield were raids, until the community figured out how to RNG wild Pokémon, and learn your secret ID from it as well; and in Gen 3, I think the painting stuff was a rather recent discovery as well. I hope this community keeps on thriving, and evolving, across all generations.
Hope this video blows you up even more. You and blissy be like my step dads that taught me RNG. Thanks dads. Have a good day jefe.
Thanks!Need More Content like THIS!! Love the work.
Wow my first Super Thanks ever!
I was pretty confused when I heard a large part of the community considered RNG abuse on par with hacking.
RNG is basically just using a look up table to get a Pokémon you want.
It's barely any different from using an encounter table for an area, aside from being way more powerful and more difficult.
It’s completely different from an areas encounter rates. You’re using outside programs and calculators to guarantee the rng, something you’d never be able to do without those tools. This is very similar to editing the codes by using the ar max. An unnatural manipulation to game brought on with the assistance of outside tools.
How do you think we get the encounter tables for an area?
I'll give you a hint, its not by going off official guide books or in-game testing.
@@PapaJefeYT yeah but knowing the encounter rate doesn’t guarantee you’ll find it. Btw some guide books did have the encounter rates on them.
@@wapit3346 And knowing what frame to hit doesn't guarantee you will hit it.
@@wapit3346 The guide books had loose encounter rates, but thanks to dataminers looking at hidden info we actually know the exact encounter slots and odds.
But taken one step farther, what about IVs? There's no way in game to see your exact IVs, only Judges which give you ranges.
Thankfully dataminers looked at how the Stat formula worked mathematically, and made calculators that let you plug in Pokemon stats, which is plainly visible.
RNG manipulation tools are the exact same. They are calculators. You plug-in easily visible info like Pokemon stats, and the tools use the same math as the game to calculate what Pokemon come next.
Fantastic video! When I first heard about rng, I soft-resetted for Lugia in SS until I got it shiny so I can find its ivs to determine my sid.
From there, it's been RNG central! (Sapphire, HG/SS, Platinum, B/W & B/W 2) :D
I personally enjoyed it because (without tid/sid manip), I feel like resetting for that Lugia earned and granted me the ability to rng haha
And of course I always tid/sid manip now! :P
Shiny Hunting 🤝RNG
Actually, I had discovered this while playing on MyBoy in my phone. I noticed with the save and load function, that emerald pokemon encounter was random with every step, but Firered had a set amount of grass you had to walk in order to encounter pokemon. If I performed the same action in the exact same time, I would even encounter the same pokemon. This functioned so in catching, moves hitting and other rng related events like battle tower teams. pretty coool
Whether or not you consider RNG manipulation cheating comes down to your definition of cheating. I'm perfectly fine with exploiting features that are already in the game. To me that's not cheating, it's inventive and smart. However, I am not ok if you need to use an external device running non-nintendo licensed software to manipulate the game's code and acquire something that would otherwise be unobtainable. If you don't want to use RNG manipulation then don't but then don't complain about the legitimacy of RNG manipulated pokemon because you spent hundreds of hours hunting a single shiny pokemon. If that frustrates you then you clearly regret your decision and wasted your time - that's on you. If you're content with the time it took then the method through which someone else achieved the same goal shouldn't bother you.
This is the best comment I've seen so far

Even if you prefer SRing for shinies, still a good idea to know how this stuff works so you can at least know that if you are SRing on Emerald or dead battery RS for a shiny your odds are in all intents and purposes 0 since your shiny frame is set and probably not in the first 1000 frames.
Didn’t realize how involved and interesting RNG manips were, thought perfect frame timing was borderline wizardry thanks for helping convince me otherwise
Having any sense of musical rhythm really helps
Damn, hooked me with the title and it was worth the watch. Great video my dude!
Gameshark/ActionReplay/PKhex ect are essentially breaking into your Game with tools
RNG is within the Games base programming and does take some skill to tap into in order to use properly, like Speedrunners mastering In-game Glitches to help them beat games faster. I have my reservations about abusing it for everything, but as long as it only utilizes the Game's interior functionality. It's fair Game. May not be the intended way, but I'm not going to call it out like I would Genning.
I agree to a certain extent. If it’s simple but requires some effort to improve your odds not guarantee the out come you want I am great with that but if it requires things like naming your character a certain name it feels less authentic
@@Goldencat44 I never needed to whenever I dabbled with it, as long as You time the final press properly for the ID you want you can use whatever names you want

Honestly, as someone who's never tried RNG manipulation, I feel like people saying it's illegitimate or illegal are wildly salty, for no reason.
"My way of spending weeks of time hunting for a shiny Pokemon can beat up *your* way of doing weeks of research to get a shiny Pokemon!"
Like, come on guys. Give me a break. Simply knowing how the game works isn't cheating.
That's like saying people who battle and understand type weaknesses are cheating.
Just objectively wrong on all fronts. Stop being salty. Whether to you're doing the research/timing practice to grind for a shiny or soft resetting a bajillion times, both methods are simply understanding game mechanics, and committing to different strategies to get the same result.
YES
"knowing how the game works is cheating" like come on!
Yes but its sorta hard to draw the line theres also ace which can be done with out an eternal tools or devices but its basically like hacking the game from inside the game itself using a glitch to exploit it and run your own code.
I have just discovered this aspect to the Pokémon games and it's very interesting. As a casual, I'm still trying to understand Natures, IVs and EVs lol 😂
However, I believe RNG is not cheating. Rather, it's understanding how the game was coded and exploiting it to get the desired result.
Some are just salty that all the time & efforts they've spent could be done in a faster, effective, and calculated manner.
Dang this video is great. Between you and blissy, I have found new joy in my old gen 3 gba carts. Started a new save for emerald a few weeks ago with a shiny mudkip and now I got a shiny latias, shiny groudon, and shiny rayquaza. Followed your tutorial vid for ACE and unlocked old sea map, eon ticket, etc. all successfully. Rn waiting on frame 1mil+ to get a modest shiny kyogre. Needless to say that thank you and the community for getting me excited to play pokemon again
You're in Emerald waiting for Frame 1 million? Have you considered using a Battle Video or the Painting Seed?
@@PapaJefeYT Yes! I’m doing the battle vid method to save the frame and then try for the kyogre and shiny modest latios too. Painting seed seems a little too complicated for me
Okay thats good! I was just making sure you weren't doing a 1 million frame wait every time LMAO
Good luck!
Lol thanks for the help!
You convinced me! RNG Manips should get more respect, its as cool as any other part of competitive Pokemon!
Cool and respectable way of cheating
My first shiny was a sentret that was lost to a dead Silver cartridge. It would be so cool to use rng and get my pink buddy back
I’m on the fence with save editing. All of the shinies I got are legit but the ability to save edit mystery gifts that change the game somewhat is a life saver. Getting the Eon ticket in ORAS in 2022 is baffling to me.
W video. I came here after the BDSP RNG guide. People vastly underestimate how much skill RNGing takes. It took me days to get one shiny, but I knew that I was using my time in a worthwhile manner to be more efficient. It’s great.
never heard of any of this before. It's super cool, but I'll never treat shines as anything more than that random wtf moment that happens every 70th time you replay a pokemon game. I know Wormadam's not the most loved pokemon, but the shiny burmy I randomly got has become one of my favorite team members in brilliant diamond lol
So I've been shiny hunting for over 10 years now and I'm trying to do it as "legitimate" as possible. I wouldn't even change my system's date or time to hunt specific shinies, let alone use third party hardware/software. That being said, I completely understand that those are the rules I subject myself to and that it's completely fine if others wanna play the games differently. After all radar shiny hunting often felt the most rewarding as you actually need to pay attention and use more than the two braincells you usually use for other shiny hunts, in that regard it's kinda like rng manipulation. But to me the very most important part of shiny hunting is the randomness, which rng manip takes away. I also think that most of the people that do rng manipulation aren't the ones that try to figure it out themselves like you do, but rather follow along youtube videos to get a shiny faster or just have a bit of fun getting a shiny. Even tho shiny hunting isn't really competitive like speedrunning is, I think that there are categories to it as well and if everyones upfront about their rng manips there really shouldn't be a problem.
All in all I think that some people should just be more open minded to rng manipulation and just see it as a separate category that doesn't make their own shinies less of an achievement.
EXACTLY.
This is the sort of thinking that I so rarely see
Usually people can be very one sided on this kind of subject
after seeing way too many takes from twitter and what not it is refreshing to see someone able to evaluate from many perspectives
thank you :) made my day just a tiny bit better
Love your point of view. I don't think it's necessarily cheating because all you really do is make getting your shiny a lot sooner and your not making or cloning to bring to the game. I do think it's unfair to those of us who don't know how to do it but that gets made up by the way everyone who is able to do this shares it with the rest of us. I really appreciate the people who take the time to help people like me understand how to do this. Newly subscribed 💐
Glorious video Papa, I am your fan. Thank you for being part of this amazing community!
+spends hundreds of hours learning to manipulate frame perfect inputs+
“Wow u lazy cheater”
Honestly, I have nothing but respect for people who put in the time to figure out this sort of stuff. I personally would never use it because I like the satisfaction of the reward after not knowing how many attempts it will take, but I don’t blame people who find it rewarding to learn the inner mechanics and work them to their advantage, either.
Not lazy, just cheater. It's not even a criticism, just a fact. Cheating is fine, it's a solo game.
@@mhchx3 it’s not cheating though. It’s literally no different than breeding for exact IVs, abilities, egg moves, and shininess. Using the game’s own code to figure out how to get something you want isn’t cheating. Also, knowing how to get something and actually getting it are two *very* different things because of how difficult some of the RNG manips are (the Shaymin or Crescelia hunts in BDSP are painful).
@@razrv3lc Exactly - this method doesn't manipulate the game in any way nor does it take advantage of bugs like glitzer popping does.

Im old school. Started with blue on the brick gameboy. Now on legends arceus post completion alpha shiny hunting.
I have never used or sanctioned use of rng, hacks, or any other chieating in my game because i lost an important save file mew cloning in silver.
That said, thats my game, and how i play. I have masuda method bred 25 shinies, one of which is a flygon with all 6 stats perfect, this, shes my gem.
I enjoy the grind, i enjoy rhe chase, and i treasure my rewards. I will keep playing this way. All rng peeps, keep playing your way too, because eventually pokemon as a company will be okay with it. Nothing wrong with wanting to battle at the highest tiers of the game, thats where epic stories live!!
Great vid, and i love the lack of animosity. Very objective and clear. Well done!!
I think there's a very fascinating dichotomy within the pokemon games.
On one hand, the IV system has driven me nuts for years. For christ's sake, why is it that the stats have to be 0-31, ON TOP OF getting the right nature.. it's ridiculous and for many years has prevented people from getting certain mons with competitive stats because the sheer math just isn't on your side. It's like, why does it have to be this way? Why does it have to be so difficult to get a "perfect" pokemon sometimes?
But somehow, I've grown to love it. And outsmarting the odds with the RNG tools just feels so good. If it were so easy to get a perfect pokemon, there wouldn't be the satisfaction and pride when you boot up your game and open your party or box to find your latest successful RNG "project" sitting there waiting for you. Against all odds, you have in your hands something you once only wished of having. That's what makes it so cool. Approaching each pokemon RNG differently... which tools, techniques, games, egg moves, etc. It all adds up to something almost more fun than the game itself.
You are one of RNGesus' chosen people. Bless your soul 🙏
I never saw RNG manipulation as cheating. You’re using functions within the game to your advantage to get what you want. I would be interested in trying it sometime, but every time I watch a video from you or Blissy it feels like y’all are doing rocket science!
Shiny Hunting is pulling a slot machine lever, RNG manip is researching the slot machine internals to guarantee big payouts.
This is why you keep my love for RNGing shinies. Thanks Jefe. You are the man.
I wanted to RNG manipulate on Ultra Sun, but I started to play before I knew about it. Then I realized to find my Secret Trainer ID number, I couldn't have reseted before the first encounter with your starter OR change your trainer name. I've named my player Louie, but I forgot the "I" so I went back and changed it. So, there goes my hope of RNG manipulating my Ultra Sun game. A similar thing happened with my Sapphire game where I learned about RNG manipulation after I started my game, so I had no real way of checking my Secret Trainer ID without reseting my game.
Maybe when I beat my Ultra Sun game, I'll reset my game and try to RNG manipulate.
It takes as much work and setup as regular shiny hunting or perfecting stats. It's it own work and is still very difficult to do. I admire the RNG community for figuring this out, it's hard work.
I can use PKHex to find you SID and TSV for you if you'd like.
Late but you can still RNG for stats, just not shiny
You rock man! I used your guide to RNG the Colosseum Bonus Disk Jirachi!

As a shiny hunter, I would have probably switched to RNG a long time ago if only I had the patience to set it up and a natural rhythm. xD Instead, I'm almost half-done with my living national dex with three RNGed mythicals (Mew, Jirachi, Manaphy) and the Hoenn starters, on which I learned to use the tools. Still, I needed the assistance of Lego Mindstorms - because I could never hit the perfect frame. The fact that you can do it repeatedly and on different systems is mind-blowing!

Just this past month or two I discovered RNG Manip through you and blisy and through much confusion and tedious efforts honing my skills (and acquiring the necessary knowledge like zigzagoon is generated 142 frames after starter in Hoenn, shoutout my 20 some uncatchable shinies ahhh) I FINALLY GOT MY SHINY MUDKIP in my all time favorite Pokémon , Emerald. As blisy's comment says, try it out on an old favorite and find something new to love and look forward to with every static encounter possibly ;)
Love my shiny swampert play through I will be trying for the legendaries soon and to try and understand sweet scenting with an unknown SID or figure out my SID next. Safari shiny hunting REs as a new angle to play and try for too!
To add; I haven't completed the RNG seed to shiny starter route that is Manip. I was SRing a second cartridge and had a perfect early shiny frame and then used EonTime to focus in on the frame. Yeah, hence 20+ shiny zigzagoons until someone told me wait exactly 142 frames or so later lol
Just got into RNG Manipulation a few weeks ago because of your mew video. Now, I have 3 shinies of each Hoenn starter and just got my first shiny starter in BD yesterday! 😁
Epic video, already do a lot of RNGs thanks to Blissy, and now this motivates me even more, truly inspiring video Papa Jefe.
And i also agree hacking takes out all the new puzzle fun away.
I’ve known about RNG manipulation in these games, but this video is really making it less intimidating for me to try it!
And yeah, I’ve never seen this as cheating! Kinda crazy how people will see it that way. It’s kinda just like finding an easy money-making exploit in an RPG. We’re all just trying to save some time!
It's like auto shiny trading in LGPE, as a legendary poketuber said in that video.
"You won't believe how much effort it took to get this lazy."
Meaning even if from the outsiders perspective you're "cheating" from the "cheaters" perspective they did almost as much if not more than the patient hunters.
Because of you and Blissey I picked up crystal & Yellow VGC after 11 years of no Pokémon in my life, and got me a shiny ditto to bred 1/64 odds with. Thank you 🙏🏼
I always hacked Pokémon simply because I (and certainly no one) have the time it takes to create teams and teams of perfect Pokémons. I used many tools, since DPP. I stopped playing in Gen 6. Some years later, I discovered RNG because I wanted to buy some hack device and I wasn't able to do so. Frustrated, I searched "perfect Poké without hacks" and found the rabbit hole of RNG manipulation.
After years, YEARS of wanting a shiny Treecko on my SoulSIlver, today I have boxes of others Shinies alongside him with them. I don't compete anymore, only play competitively Gen 1 on Showdown, but my cartridges (specially SoulSIlver, my personal gem) is full of RNG Pokés.
There is simply no reason to spend so much time creating just one team. In competitive you use a lot more than one team. Most teams use legendaries (Thundurus, Raikou and alike), and to get them perfect is terribly long. With RNG you can shorten this ridiculously big time. When we are kids, it is fine to breed and all that... I think that the only games that you can REALLY breed competitively is Gen 6 onwards. Before that, just use RNG. Specially if like me and 90% of the Pokémon fanbase you're already an adult, and probably with a kid. Not only it seems stupid spend so much time to create Pokés to battle, it seems nonsense. Just get it and play. If you want to hunt Shinies, do it with your time. No problem. But play competitively and breeding manually isn't a show of strenght, is a show of stupidity.
Amazing video, dude! I didn't know you, and now I already love! :D
Great video! Im still gona shiny hunt the good old way but Im def getting perfect IV pokemon for my team! You can't even imagine how I felt after discovering that Its basicly impossible to get perfect pokemon by soft reseting so having this neat way to get them that still envolves patience and skill is just perfect!!
Or just breed them you know. Might not involve patience or skill but it's faster and also not cheating. Who in their right mind would even try to soft reset for perfect IV lol ?
AMAZING video, I honestly haven't played a Pokémon game in a long time but am seriously considering it now!
I have played through every pokemon game 2-3 times and I have only ever found 3 shinies (2 of which were back to back lol). Finding them legitimately and without manipulation feels so good but I feel the rate is incredibly low. Manipulation would remove that feeling of finding one completely but there's nothing wrong in people doing it for one.
A dead battery is a time machine back to Y2K, mother of all shinies.
Just finished XD Gale Of Darkness and started X.. I guess I will be checking X rng's manipulation right away.. thanks for the advice! Great video man..
Blisy is still working on updated Guides for Gen 6, so there aren't any great resources for learning it yet.
Most people use custom firmware with a plugin called PCalc which reads the RNG data and overlays it on the screen.
If you're fine with this, then thankfully hacking your 3ds is very easy and accessible for anyone.
Only recently are advancements being made to pull it off without using unmodified hardware. If you'd prefer this method, then I'd recommend waiting just a bit longer. But you can do TID\SID and learn the basics now. (ua-cam.com/video/w4bGvLEIue8/v-deo.html)
In the meantime, why not try PokeSpot RNG on XD Gale of Darkness! You can actually get perfect 5-6IV Competitive Shiny Pokemon with this method, but the only targets are: Sandshrew, Gligar, Trapinch, Hoppip, Phanpy, Surskit, Zubat, Aron, and Wooper.
Crobat, Gliscor, Flygon, Donphan, Aggron, and Quagsire are all good in competitive, so personally I think its worth it.
I have two guides, one for shiny and one for IVs (since they are decided separately):

And Blisy does as well, among many other XD RNGs:

@@PapaJefeYT I'm flattered by the amount of personal attention you are showing here.. I finished XD but I started XG Next Gen fanmade rom hack so I will definitely check your suggestions here for the old generation.. As for the 6th one I am watching how Blissey recreated Wolfeys 2016 Worlds Team at this very moment.. you guys are truly facinating.. I'm very excited for this whole new world you are opening my eyes for and you really proof this is one of the most coziest parts of the whole pokemon community
5:12 accurate re-creation of how it felt to see this message pop-up as a kid.
Been waiting for this one. I was really proud of that little edit 😅
My first experience was Pokémon Red in the Game Boy Pocket kit - Pokémon Red/Blue and Game link cable. Great video!
If anyone ever tells you that RNG Manip us just cheating with extra steps use this allegory:
"If I have an end of year test and ask the professor what topics are they going to cover on it so I can study by myself, making sure I know every detail, and entering the test with the security I would get a good score, is that cheating with extra steps? Am I as big of a cheater as the guy who didn't study at all and just took out his phone during the test to get the answers?"
Really cool video. I started to look into rng manipulation with your video on shiny arceus. Since then i wanted to try more and more because it was really fun and made things reachable out of a sudden. Thanks to you, blisy and countless other cool guides online i managed to rng a lot of cool pokemon like shiny mew, deoxys, jirachi, manaphy and many more. I can not thank you enough for showing me the door to the rng world. It really is something else. Keep up the good work!
"might as well have hacked it in and saved yourself the trouble" I mean yeah, you could say that about every single shiny hunting method.
The game doesn't know any better, and neither do your opponents.
whats up man I just want to let you know ive been watching your videos for a while now and theyve helped me out a lot. I just watched your most recent sc/vi video and i decided to watch this one at the end im glad i did. keep up the awesome content man thank you
Completed the entire Gen 3 Dex without finding a shiny Pokemon, so I don't see an issue in manipulating RNG. It's inside the game. Just like I don't see a problem with the Mew glitch in R/B.
Thanks for this video. I had no idea this was a thing until I saw this in my recommended.
Fantastic video. Great reference for why RNG manipulation is fascinating and fun!
Really love rng manipulation ever since i saw speedruns it's just incredible how you can manipulate the rng since it's programmed to simulate.
*insert mind blown gif here*
Amazing video! A really interesting perspective on Pokemon that I never considered before. It makes me think of my statistics and probability courses from college but applied to Pokemon
I prefer hunting a random shiny or grinding out resets/encounters. But it's cool how much knowledge and time is put into RNG manip as well.
