At 6'3" I couldn't imagine having to do any work on a vice so low to the ground. That's the main problem I see with it. But it's also unique to tall people.

First and Foremost, Awesome T-Shirt👊 The VA and the USA government needs to help those who gave their services in every way a lot more than they do. Wilton is a reputable vice Mfg. My dad had one on his workbench in the basement and it couldn't be beat, I mean we tortured it and it held up. Very cool design, that should give you years of service without any issues👍

Fireball Tool did a vice showdown video a while back and this one was in it. If I remember right, it didn't fair too well compared to all the other regular bench vices, but he was taking them to their breaking point. Normal use likely won't take it anywhere near that far.

Love the product reviews, I bought one of these a few years back and I love the convenience of it, it lives behind the seat in my pick up and it's so easy to fit for those roadside repairs that pop up, they also have a bracket that fits over the hitch section that you can bolt on a work bench or any solid mounting spot. I have a nudge bar that I made a 2'' hitch point for so I can use it on the front of the vehicle as well.

I've had this vise for about 5 years on the back of a work truck and it still works after the abuse. Wilton has separate bench mount clips and thats what i got to put on the bumper instead. Pretty sloppy but i shimmer it so its nice and tight. One time the truck was backed up and the vise hit a wall pretty hard and eventually the mechanism detached from the thread that turns it to open and close. I took it apart and drilled a 1/2" diameter nut to a 5/8" hole and welded it then welded a 3/4" x 1/2" drive socket to that and use a breaker bar as a handle or even an impact at times on slow speed lol. The threaded rod is bent some but it still works and been like that for like 2 years. Exact Replacement jaws were hard to find as well and i ended up getting irwin 5" jaws and the holes didnt match up so i drill and tapped 2 new holes although 1 was insanely close to the old hole but off so it didnt work well. Welded the sides of the jaws. Also the carry handle is a nice spot to vise grip things to it that is too big or something for a vise. I like the vise alot and would recommend and its convenient cuz i can take it home from work and throw in the hitch of my truck. O and the breaker bar handle provides great leverage and i actually prefer it lol

On the other hand, I bought a 4 inch Wilton mechanic’s vise five years ago. Biggest POS vise I’ve ever owned. A year into using it I tightened down on it with just my hands and stretched the threads in the thread box. Sucks because the hardware store where I bough it went out of business. I’m one of those guys that have a huge receiver adapter monstrosity sticking out the back that does for the most part do nothing. But what it has done is ripped off one front bumper and busted three radiators of people that decided to run into the back of me and left my bumper pristine. Until people quit staring at their phones and start paying attention to the road I want the biggest heaviest hitches I can fit in my receiver.

@@jamesstewart601 Understandable. I'm just more thinking of when I'm walking in a parking lot and they've got something that sticks a full foot or two past the bumper and I end up running a shopping cart into it, or worse, the shins.

      It’s a rebranded SnapOn. I would’ve saved $50 if I got it from Bahco.

You can also use a piece of 2" stock to make a receiver for your workbench at home/shop.

I might get some of that 2” stock. It’s probably cheaper than the bench mount they sell.
