    Great video. I'm also running a D30 up front with 38s and a Rubicon D44 trussed in rear. 5:13s on 19 JL. Just had to replace rear axle shafts and ring and pinion.

    Love to see this, I have a dana 30 from a WJ with the cv style shafts on some 38s with a torsen limited slip carrier and 4.88 gears in my bronco 2 and I am excited to test it out once the trails open , up here in Wisconsin. Ive gotta say one thing i think will help the dana 30 live longer is going to be running as low of air pressure in your tires as you can, to reduce sharp torque loads back feeding into the rotating assembly. Also avoid axle hop when the tires start to break traction.

    • @JeepTrailsandBarbells
      @JeepTrailsandBarbells  Рік тому +1

      Oh, for sure, we run 8 psi when off-roading and always try to avoid axle hoping.
      Sounds like you have yourself a pretty fun rig, and i bet you are itching to hit them trails!

    Love this!! I subbed. Im bone stock with 373 gears and 37’s. Only issue I’m having is the antilock will kick on and off randomly. But so far it’s handling everything fine. 2013 wrangler jk 4 door.

      @@JeepingAdventures nothing wrong with that lol. Re gearing will help you out on everything big time, proper gearing would be 4.88s. But check your wheel hubs or wheel sensors and that is what would be causing the light to kick on. To be honest it really isn’t an issue at all unless your wheel bearing is starting to go bad.

    So I have an 11 JKU Sport with a 6in lift on 37s, I just got back from a week trip at rock springs. I drove it from Louisiana to Arkansas. than took it though all 3 Badge of honor trails On top of "The Gulch" and Pacos Tacos, I even took to the other side of the park across the street. and ran Level 4 trails all week which should be between a 6-8 in normal scale. all I had to do was disconnect my front sway bar, I than drove it back home for a total of a 12hr round trip. My Dana 30 is BONE STOCK, to the point I'm still running 3.73 gears front and rear. I didn't have a single problem and to be honest I'm going to rock it as is until it goes.
    I think the 30 is FARR stronger than we are "told" I went with my mom, who has a 23 JLU Rubicon with a 3in lift on 37s. and I thought I would leave wanting to sell mine for a Rubi. In reality I ended up leaving with the mind set of I don't need a Rubi or a D44 front end. that just being smart and picking the right line is all I need to do.

    • @JeepTrailsandBarbells
      @JeepTrailsandBarbells  Рік тому +2

      That is awesome. It sounds like you have the same mindset as us. I believe a lot of it is "look what i bought," and the ones you hear about braking are probably people bounceing the front end and hopping and throttling out like crazy.
      The dana 30 is a tough little axle, and it gives way better ground clearance than the 44 and especially the dana 60. But most people never even try to wheel them in fear of what they heard from some guy who once new a guy that read on a form somewhere that it cant handle it 🤣🤣

    • @Jacks_Disciple
      @Jacks_Disciple Рік тому

      @@JeepTrailsandBarbells yea, I definitely have the same mindset! I'm planning a trip to MOAB before the end of the year, and I'm sure as shit driving it to Utah and back, I thought I saw a Rubicon Ridge, and fun run badge on the jeep so, so you know hot springs isn't a walk in the park.
      and I was very much going there expecting to have to trailer it back because I snapped a shaft, but it never happened. And lets be honest I very much enjoy listening to people say oh you don't have lockers? wait you have a D30 in the front? enjoy breaking, only to follow them up the mountain lol. I'm very much a do more with less type of guy.
      The last trail I did before we left was Gorge not the Gulch. and I went up it solo with me and my brother-in-law (actually got it on video) and when I got to the top it was than that I realized there isn't a single thing wrong with the D30. no mind you I'm still running 3.73 gears on 37s

      @Jacks_Disciple Yeah, i know hot springs. They are actually talking about putting another badge there along with Missouri, and we just went to Missouri in May 🤣🤣🤦‍♂️.
      We daily drive ours, and we dont trailer them either. We trailed my TJ to Missouri only because my wife didn't feel like driving 13 hours by herself, lol.
      And yeah, they can take a beating, i dont know if you have watched any of my other videos, but we got some good footage of the dana 30 doing some crazy stuff without braking. And we have more we will be putting out.
      Im 100% with you, i love it when people give you that crazy look when they hear you have a 30, and its open 🤣🤣.
      Had one guy tell me "i used a dana 30 but just kept snapped shafts" so i told him "well i guess you dont know how to pick your line, that or you just go for shock value and gun ho it like a mad man"

    I have a JL I have run 37s BFG KO3 MT with KMC bead locks with 1.5 wheel spacers . I have ARB air lockers front and rear and use the lockers when needed both front and rear . I live in SC . I use my jeep as a daily and also as a play toy . I have Jeep badges of honor from You Whuarrie and Gultches. I run a what I call a best of lift . Instead of buying a complete lift I built my lift by buy individual parts from different places that I thought was there better products overall. Like I am running MetalCloak springs, MetalCloak Angle correction brackets . MetalCloak shock relocation brackets . Then I'm running Iron Rock Off-road adjustable upper and lower front and rear control arms and there flex joints . Flex joints in the front axle too . Also there Front and Rear Track Bar . I'm running Rusty's off-road 1Ton drag link and tie rod assembly . Tom woods 1250 front and rear drive shaft with yoke pinion conversion . I'm easy on that right foot . I try to pick the best line . I have seen people with Dana 60s with a lot of goodies in there break on the same trail I was on . A good spotter and a little common sense will go far

      @@raymondwinans978 exactly, and well said. Most the time the biggest issue people have is linkage from the driver seat to the gas pedal. 😂😂
      It’s all how you drive it, you go gun hoe on it you’re going to snap something, even with Dana 60s. Nothing is unbreakable. you push hard enough and everything has a tipping point.
      I like to upgrade as i go as well, as little needed to get out and have fun, then as you run into issues you can make better decisions on what you need to upgrade next. And that’s way better then throwing your life savings at it and then realizing you didn’t need to spend all that money.

      @ you will have to trim the rear pinch weld and get high clearance fenders. You will also rub your frame when turning. It will be a tight fit and not the best fit off roading. We run a 3.5 and honestly we should have at least a 4.5. We make it work but it does have its drawbacks.

      @@dab0yhdizzle you should be, they look amazing on JLUs. Like I said just take it easy on the throttle, as slow as possible and as fast as needed. Every time I have seen some one bust something up, it’s normally from bouncing their rig on a hard throttle that wouldn’t have got them up anyways. A lot of time it’s the drivers fault and not the rig. A lot of people over build because they rear it’s needed and blah blah blah, but none of them actually ever test it out. So I wouldn’t stress over it.
      Later down the road if it was my jeep, I would do ball joint deletes and the FAD delete with a RCV axle on the front. But I don’t think it’s needed, unless you’re doing some crazy rock crawling.
