    It’s actually quite easy to place vinyl on a balloon, especially a large balloon. The trick is to cut down into the vinyl (around the lettering) that way it takes the shape of the balloon and spreads easily.

    Yep, definitely used HTV on genuine leather multiple times and have great results! I’ve placed it on keychains and earrings and I’ve never had issues. I guess it was the right kind of leather - nothing special, mostly scrap packs.

    FWIW, for glass, if you want to "seal" it, you can use a clear overlay (like TRW's Vinyl Shield) with a very small overlap. Not perfect but it does extend the life of the decal without it looking awful.

    So I totally never thought that I would have something to add to one of your videos because you guys have been at this way way longer than me but you can do mylar balloons if you buy them somewhere you can take them home uninflated and bring them back to be inflated I actually did some really cool ones for my son’s birthday party and what I do afterwards is a poke a little hole in the back flatten them out and then we hang them on his wall as decor 😊 I don’t think I can post pictures on here but I will try to add some to my page or if anybody was curious how they turned out just reply to my message and I’ll show you 😊

    Thank you for the advice. Your reasoning is sound. Especially for the stuffed animals. I would be concerned about a baby or toddler chewing on the ear, and then choking on the vinyl if it comes off. You’d think it would be put up as a keepsake, but common sense unfortunately isn’t always there.

    This was super helpful, especially the masking transfer tape. Not agreeing with the permanent tape and glass though. I have glasses and mugs I've made years ago that still look amazing. I'd re-word that to maybe say they won't last forever, not saying they won't last long. I've made cereal bowls... you name it.

    Some people have better luck than others. I have applied removable vinyl to glass, and have never had a problem. It stays on, even in the dishwasher. I cannot be bothered trying to seal it, but wonder if an aerosol sealer would work. As for stuffed animals, it seems like they’d be fine if they were for decorative purposes.

    Rebecca, first of all a great video! As always.
    I have a project I’m doing for someone that wants barbecue master put on already made, bought off of Amazon . that have already been stained and sealed. They will be outside!! I am thinking I should do a stencil and paint ,re-seal over the paint. Wouldn’t that last longer?? I don’t want to have to buy her more barstools!! I am afraid the permanent vinyl will not last. Am I right?? What would you do?
    I still have not gone on my chrome notebook to do the steps for the zip file. I use my phone most of the time . I also have the cricket design space that I pay for also . It just seems to be easier for me. Although all of your images are way cooler… I have to take time to learn how to use that !
    Also has anyone else said anything about UA-cam not doing any reminders and notifications? I’ll still watch those more than I get on the plan that I have. I am just still intimidated by all the technology.!!!!😊
    Sorry I wrote you a book I really just wanted to know what you would do with the outdoor stores… Thanks girl .. Look forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks so much for the info! I love your videos! If people do want to put vinyl on balloons, I've used mylar balloons with great success. I've never tried the latex ones, for the very reasons you gave. But, you can put the vinyl on the mylar before it's blown up, so you can burnish it nice and hard. When you blow up the balloon, since it doesn't expand like a latex, it has no problems. Dollar tree, by the way, has mylar balloons, already blown up with helium, in all sorts of colors and shapes. Can't burnish those since they're already blown up, but, I mean, the vinyl only has to stick through the party, right? Even still, I haven't had any problem with it coming off. And, while it may cost a little more to use vinyl, it's still cheaper than party store balloons, and , best of all, you can customize them exactly how you want.
    Thanks for all your tips!!

      I would use removable vinyl and clean the area well before putting it down .
      If it's going to be walked on more than once, I'd use permanent vinyl applied and heated with hair dryer or heat gun. Still clean the area (block area off to any kind of traffic, soap & water, scrub with brush/broom, rinse well, let dry) then apply the permanent vinyl.
      Depending on how visible or long lasting you want your marks, an alternative is to make stencils with removable vinyl and use water color, tempera, or acrylic paint or dampen the area through the stencil and chalk heavily with dampened chalk through the stencil.
      Chalk is temporary, lasts maybe a half to full day depending on traffic, and is easily washed away with plain water, though applying wet chalk makes it slightly more durable than dry chalk.
      Water colors or tempera paint can also be removed with water, but may need a bit of scrubbing and will last at least one day, possibly several, depending on traffic.
      Acrylic paint will last a lot longer, maybe a week or more depending in traffic, and will not always wash off with water and scrubbing.
      You can also use water based interior wall or exterior house paint if you want your marks to last longer (I used interior white wall paint to put hopscotch on my driveway. It lasted several Years (10 or so) through multiple pressure washes and being driven on daily, though it did fade away).
      All 4 methods of stencilling will wear off when walked or driven on for a period of time.

    Interesting video (as always)...but...I kind of disagree with your balloon theory....you seem to be speaking about the latex balloons....but I have had incredible luck placing adhesive vinyl on mylar balloons. I wouldn't put it on the latex balloons...but mylar a) lasts longer and b) often comes on a stick (making it last almost indefinitely). I have purchased plain mylar balloons from the dollar store and added vinyl and they lasted for ages....well...the one for my granddaughter's birth her mama let the air out and put it in her baby book, but another I did for an adult friend with a rainbow and giraffe and his name on lasted until it accidentally floated out the door behind someone leaving and no one noticed! LOL

    so would you recommend using sublimation to put a design on things like the elephant ears or the fuzzy blankets like you can get at 5 below?

    • @lovelymsL1
      @lovelymsL1 2 роки тому

      I'd use flock HTV on the elephant. It's for decor and the flock HTV is thick enough that it adheres nicely to the elephants. Also, because it's flock it is soft and velvety. I've done it several times. Blankets are a little trickier. If the pile of the blanket isn't too high you could use flock or brick HTV. Thicker looking HTV for thicker items. If the item is really shaggy then embroidery would be a better option. Hope this helps.

    Could you dunk the glass in a container filled deep enough with a sealer? Can the plastic cups be sealed with resin okay?

    • @dary2howard
      @dary2howard 2 роки тому +1

      It's not recommended and some may say it's unsafe to put resin on soft plastic or pliable material because when the cup sweats it can create a mold hazard between the epoxy and the cup. I hope this makes sense

      Hello! Yes ma'am you can Iron on velvet. It may not stick the best and you will need a protective sheet like a teflon sheet or a piece of butchers paper. We love Siser EasyWeed: bit.ly/3hjLgLP .
