I ordered something similar about 6 years ago from lca tackle in France because you couldn't get one in Britain. But for me to truly sharpen a hook you need a file they're ok for touching up after casting etc.
In my humble opinion it depends from the bottom the carps live on. If that live on weed or silt, they have a soft mouth so a new hook will 'always' and hook. If on the other hand, you fish on gravel or stone, their mouth is very hard and than you need a razor sharp hook. Hooks with a very small tip, even very sharp, tend to bent too easily for those fish. A more solid hook is needed. If I sharpen my hooks, I do it with two types of files and always check it with a loupe. I really don't believe in the omc tool if you want the job done as it needs to be. It will make a blunt hook sharper, for sure, but not razor sharp. Already looking forward to your next video Si.
@@dirkcludts3421 Very well said... and as you mention.. a file is definitely the best way to get a super sharp hook. To me over the years I've found that fish living in stoney gravel pits fight much harder than fish living in clay or silty lakes... although might be just my experience?!
Its been ripped off from the GOM stone, my advice to you though sir is know what your talking about. The second hook looked like the nash claw not twister and it was a beaked tip. The first hook was blunt before and after you sharpened it. The hook should literally cling to your skin with no pressure. Use the hook once then throw it away. Give yourself the best possible chance with a 50pence hook instead of reusing it
I have the same cheep hooks wanted to test how good they are got mine from temu £1.66 so you got your's cheeper they feel sharp and strong all so have touch me up pen not used it yet 😞
@@monk7074 The cheap hooks seem amazingly strong 💪 you can see from me trying to blunt it!! I think the 'Touch Me UP' does improve the hook, hard to tell if it's actually sharpening it though 🤔
Most hooks are sharp enough, forget all this hook sharpening it just makes you burn through hooks faster and guess what you've fallen into the Spend more money and pay the Carp Tax😂

@@bigbearbigbear9701 Cheerz 😁
It's a sharpening stone, you can pick them up for a couple of quid. Ali doesn't half push out some shite onto the market.
@@goplanit Haha yes, didn't realise a darts sharpener does the same job 👍
It's so easy to use compared to a stone

If l have to sharpen a hook, I will only use it for one more time, I think once you start messing with it it's going to start getting worse.

More to worry about.
If it's blunt, change it. Can't afford it , drink, smoke less, and
Stop buying gear for the sake of it.
