What an awesome video. Great explanation. Good angles. Good lighting. Very detailed. Thanks for the help! Question: The part when your camera died, you started from TDC on Intake side first? Then rotated 360* to torque exhaust side correct?
Thank you for watching and I really do appreciate your comment. So the way you will do this is to set engine to TDC and Torque 1,2,7,8 Exhaust rockers and 1,3,4,5 Intake Rockers all to 22lb then Rotate crankshaft clockwise 360 then torque 3,4,5,6 Exhaust rockers and 2,6,7,8 intake rockers to 22lb.
Great video! 1 of 1. Im having oil in cylinder 1 spark plug in the treads with a misfire. I’ve replaced that same spark plug twice already and I’m not sure what’s causing the spark plug threads to get oil on them. Could you help what is the issue?
You think if I leave the piston rings alone they will last me a little bit longer I have a 200k mile Chevy Tahoe 2008 the rings are fine as of now but I think I should change them or you think it would last me a little bit more. I'm in the process of doing the lifters.
Hey man great video thinking about doing it my self, one question though. So my 08 tahoe lost oil pressure due to oil pressure sensor failing so I replaced the oil pressure sensor and crank shaft sensor, does the loss of oil pressure cause any more damage other than lifters? Will I have to take a look at the oil pump, thank you in advance
If the oil pressure sensor failed that doesn't mean you lost actual oil pressure. So it would not hurt the engine. These sensors fail all the time, it's common. I would not worry about it.
It’s best you do them all. But if you must pick and choose I would at minimum do the whole row of AFM lifters. That’s the bare minimum though. It’s better to replace the whole row and even better to do all of them. It would be EVEN better if you did the cam too along with rods and springs.
@darkmatter7399 how much for all that that you just explained? Because I have a similar predicament but I would rather do what you said and just replace that side!
@@anamositykilla2190 for all of the above just the parts is like 1000-1500 depending you don’t need to up the stage of your cam or anything like that and you could probably do it all for 800 bucks for just the lifters the parts are around 200 to 400 bucks. If you are just going to do a row, you need to make sure that your cam isn’t damaged. You’re gonna be looking for pitting or scoring. I would suggest you invest in a cheap bore scope. The issue is this. Taking one side of the head off isn’t going to save you that much labor and if you only do one side but your cam is fucked up what you just did by replacing the lifters is pointless. Also if you’ve done all that work to remove the heads on one side you might as well do it to the other because it’s just gonna go bad in a few more 1000 miles anyway. Parts are cheap labor is expensive. Also while a novice can do this job it’s not a job for a novice lol all your bots once you get in are gonna be torque to yield and will need to be replaced. You might need to extract the exhaust manifold bolts. (Highly likely) if none of this scares you away great! You’re on your way to be a DIY mechanic. Don’t get cocky I would take a week off to do this job in your driveway. To sum up. If you wanna just do half the job it’s your prerogative and will work probably, but you must spin the cam while you’re looking at it to ensure you have no damage and also look at the lifter if it’s warped in any way you need a new cam and on the fly like that you’re gonna pay way more than you would if you prepare. All this being said even if you spend the 1500 and do the work yourself you’re saving money because a shop is gonna charge 4000 to 6000 dollars.
Got quoted, 5-6,000 lifters and cam!! As you don’t want to change only one!! You’ve basically already paid them to open it up! That’s where majority of labor was!!
No need to replace the whole head ? I have a 2009 denali the motor shaking and poor idle #4 cylinder has no compression is what the diagnostic says i want to know what do i need to replace, just the lifters , pushing rods and gasket or the whole head
You will have to take the head off and see if piston and cylinder walls are okay. You could do a leak down test to see too but that will only tell you there is an issue. To figure out if piston or cylinder wall/block you will need to get in there or use camera. I am in the same boat on 08 taking it apart soon to see what failed.
@@tavyakangler3419 shoot! I am taking the heads off on mine on Friday and I think 5 is going to be the one with a bad piston. The 6.2L is great when it works but was sad when it died. Spring was broken on 5 and push rod was bent.
Thanks to your video I was able to do this job on my own. It saved me $3k-$4k in labor! Great detailed, step by step instructions. Thank you!!!
Where did you get parts from?
This video is great. You really walked me through my 2012 Yukon XL Denali. Great job.

Did u have to put tha head at top center to take rocker arms off

Does a torque specification apply to a 2007 Cadillac Escalade
Yes basically same engine
Nice video on explaining everything boss. Question does this apply similar to a non afm 5.3
Pretty much without the bigger lifters
Like every one say your video is very helpful 100percent agreed.

Where did you get the parts to do it?
Was that a 3/8 torque wrench or 1/2 torque wrench
Nice
Is the little tick normal? Mines did that after fixing
If everything is right, shouldn’t be any tick.
Yes. You can hear it at the end of this video still. It's normal
@@joelok700did you replace them all or just the DOD ones?
I think you're better off to do an AFM delete immediately before a lifter fails & damages the cam..
My cylinder 1 lifter is bad
Can i change only 1 side of the lifters ??

At 34:16 would be the best time to inspecr or change both engine mounts🤙🤙
That’s 100% true. I actually did replace the driver side Engine mount on that truck, off camera
Im confused
Which lifter or lifters needed change?
The dod ones, I mean the long ones
What does something like this cost for labor only ?

There should be 16 lifters on each head?

2 per cylinder,
