Great info on all the accessories needed to get started. I would recommend the Thompson Center magnum powder measure. I measure out my charge on my reloading scale, very time consuming. The TC mag powder measure and a digital scale would definitely speed up the process. Great info! Cheers

One thing I make sure I have along with a nipple pick is just a knife because at times the breech face will get coated with a thick crust so I scrape it off with the knife then clear the touch hole

You didnt add weighing your charges which is the best method to get consistency, using Blackhorn and use nitro solvent to clean. Time to move away from black powder

Yep it would be great to have cci primers where we could shoot hour cva. And if they don't start making them all the gun company will go out of busines. But I don't know how all these hunting shows on TV gets to go hunting all the time when we hunter can't fine primer but they can that's strange

How do you feel about triple 777 powder ?
I use the brushes first, the the presaturated patches for cleaning, anti- sieze on the threads of the chamber thingy. I use Pyrodex pellets, and powerbelt bullets but will probably switch since the ones i use dont fragment, they just go straight through and it has to be placed correctly to bring down deer.
    Thanks

777 powder is a very efficient all-around black powder substitute, however, powder recommendations can vary greatly depending on the muzzleloader that you are using. What muzzleloader are you shooting?

Hey Darren and anyone who reads this post. I have one of the brass Powder measuring devices. I set it to fill for 110 grains. when I poured it into my blackhorn tubes it only filled to the 90 grain mark. Do you or anyone out there have an explanation for this?

Can you tell me if there’s any advantage to using FFF over FF when using the same amount by weight? I use Hodgen 777 ff and got a canaster of FFF by mistake.

We typically recommend using FFG, however, you can use FFFG in most muzzleloaders. You will probably find that FFFG ignites faster and more evenly but with reduced velocity. I would also recommend checking with the manufacturer of your muzzleloader to ensure that it is safe to use FFFG in your specific model as there are some some manufacturers that do not recommend using FFFG for safety reasons.
