This is 100% the best looking miata ever, and honestly I can't think of a better looking car that I see on the roads. And that "soul red" color is the nicest red I've seen on any car.
I'm so glad Mazda went back to the roots with the new Miata. Not too much power, but more focusing on making the most fun possible with an amazing shifter, hydraulic steering, etc.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost my account password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
Watching this in 2022, after just ordering a 2022 MX-5 in Soul Red (2.0L, Manual, soft top) it shows how far you guys have come. I'm really impressed and also, you two are the reason I'm getting "back" into driving cars for fun, because, IT IS! Thanks Jacub and Yuri for always delivering top-notch entertainment! Kudos!
I have a 2016 Mazda 3, and once you get used to the console infotanement controls you won't want anything else. It's so intuitive and right were your hand is anyway. So much safer than having to reach up and look at a touch screen. With the physical buttons right under your hand you never have to take your eyes off the road.
I love that you guys are okay with disagreeing with each other and don't dwell on it or get awkward about it. Having two people with differing opinions in a car review channel might be essential for providing viewers with diverse opinions.
I've been bored of cars for years now no matter what the power but bought one of these a few months back and I always have a laugh when driving it. Awesome car
Cannot get over how much fun these reviews are - absolutely awesome. I love MX-5s (future owner) but at this point I’m watching Straight Pipes reviews for cars I don’t even care about. Highly underrated channel with crazy good production quality and entertainment. Keep it up!!
Go with the base trim - Sport here in the US. No infotainment system, just a radio with BT connectivity. Works well enough, and no knob and screen to fidget with.
I test drove one of these, and I loved it. I also have a 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS. Under the right circumstances you can have as much fun in the Mazda as any car.
I think I'm the only one who thinks this is one of the best infotainment systems out there. There's three buttons above the rotary knob, dedicated for Home, Nav and Audio. I think it's made so that the driver doesn't put thought into it. But people have opinions, and I kinda see why you don't like it. p.s - I feel like it's a reference to the rotary engine that they were so once known for.
Arrowrooter35 - I actually use the rotary knob on my VW more than the touch screen. Once you get a feel for the pathing of the settings, rotaries can be really quick and safe. I can see that happening with the Mazda system as well.
I kind of agree in that I like the simplicity of the rotary knob as it's true to the spirit of the car. I want something to forward the Pandora song I don't want to listen to or quickly mute the audio without moving my hand far from being ready to shift. I don't even have to look at the display to skip songs; the instrumentation is part of the feel of the car.
I agree I hate trying to hit the right spot on touchscreens on a bumpy road and then having a screen full of fingerprints... ugh. Rotary knob takes all of about 10 minutes to get used to and it's a much better way to control when you're driving.
Great reviews btw. You guys and Savagegeese are my favorites. Injecting a little humor in reviews makes a sometimes mundane subject enjoyable. The best reviewers employ it with success. Some attempt it and fail but the give and take between the 2 of you is spot on.
Mazda infotainment is great guys, its easy to learn, to access shortcuts and you dont even have to look at the buttons or knobs, and the distraction from the screen is minimum. It's only missing Applecarplay and Androidauto, but once integrated the controls are great.
i have owned 6 NA miatas from stock to turbocharged, supercharged automatic ,manual and enjoyed them all but i would take the ND over them any day especially the RF
Great video. I bought my MX5 at the beginning of April and it's the most fun car I've ever owned. I came from an E39 M5 and I'd drive the MX5 over it any day of the week. And the infotainment isn't as bad as you guys make it out to be ;-) I do wish it had Android Auto though. Keep up the great work! You just gained a subscriber.
+twalker294 thanks! The infotainment would be acceptable if the touch screen worked while the car is in motion. Like pretty much every other manufacturer
As per Mazda, Android Auto and Car Play option is coming early next year and existing systems will be upgradable (paid option). That would make it even better!
I've watched this video quite a lot 🙈 I mean I watched probably all the youtube content I could find about Miatas... But in the end it was Yuri enthusiasm in this video that sealed the deal. 😆 Now I love our red ND soft top 😍 Here in Europe we have also the 1.5 liters 130 bhp version. It revs even higher than the 2.0 160 bhp and it's perfect for the much heavier taxes and pricier fuel.
Great video. I own a 2017 MX-5 Club with the performance package and indeed you're right on the performance package making it the best configuration. It's been an insanely great every day driver given I've got 50 miles of country backroads and just a short 10 mile run of interstate in the middle (which concludes into a tight cloverleaf which is always a blast for ripping into). Per the mediocre entertainment system, a lot of us prefer to run entertainment off of our mobile devices. Whether its Pandora or other audio apps, I'm quite fine ignoring the tame dash console since the mobile device runs the show and the audio quality in the 2017 is quite solid. Anyway thanks for reviewing. It's a car that has totally transformed my previously dreaded commute into a joy every day.
You guys are channeling me. I've just subscribed and the first video I watched was the 2017 Ridgeline, which I'm strongly considering buying. Probably going to order an RTL-E this week. The 2nd video I watched was the Ridgeline vs. Element box test. I once owned a 2011 EX and to this day regret selling it. Now this video.....I recently purchased a 2008 MX-5 PRHT Grand Touring. A complete blast to drive!
Man, just rewatched this. Miss this energy from the Straight Pipes, more chill and less formulaic than their videos now. They seemed more excited about little things.
to all the guys looking forward to buy an mx5 but are worried about the lack of compartments, you can also use the space between the seat and the door sill to place things like phone, wallet etc :) they don't move around
I have a 2016 automatic, and news flash, its still fun in a corner, i get both slap stick and paddleshifter options if i want them but i dont have to worry about a clutch in traffic
I just rented that car for a day in the Canary Islands and it’s mega! I love it so much I’m considering how to live with it as a daily driver even though I have 2 kids!
That $41k price point for the GT is just brutal here. Even if the other trims were priced just a little bit lower I feel the MX-5 would be selling better. Especially when its's going up against probably its biggest competitor, the BRZ/86
Miata is always the answer. ;-) I daily drive a 2018 GT soft top. In the dozen or so cars I’ve owned or daily driven, this is my absolute favorite. And while I wish mine had the LSD, it’s fine without it for just street use.
New Ontario subscriber here, thanks to the Savagegeese referral. I've owned the GS version of the MX-5 ND for nearly two years, and you guys nailed it. Great to discover more quality Canadian content...keep 'em comin', eh!
Yuri! The ultimate Miata movie is LOOPER! Awesome review ! Almost hate to admit it.. but I like that car ! Sport package sounds like the way to go. Its how I ordered my 15 GT : base, performance pack and cloth recaros bang !! win win !
you guys are right talking about how awful Mazda's infotainment system is. That's one of the reasons I went from 2014 Mazda 3 sport to 2017 Hyundai sonata sport. Hyundai offers a Lovely infotainment system with lifetime maps update on Android auto. and this beauty actually was 5 grands less than my old Mazda 3. The warranty is the Cherry on the cake. 10 years Super!
im wondering if youve driven the NC as i fit in that and im 6,2 and a half , well, with seat tilted and my knees are a little tight on the steering wheel, (why oh why dont mazda do a flat bottomed steering wheel for the MX5?! ) but head room ok for me in the NC , havnt been in an ND yet.
Hi guys, I enjoyed watching your review for the MX-5 2017 and how honest and simple conversation about the likes and dislike you both have about the car. However, can you tell me why you really prefer the soft top against the RF? Because I too like the soft top though some said they hardly have difficult time talking normal compared to the RF, did you guys experience that too? Thanks and keep up the good work. It is great to watch locals do reviews.
+Nath M prefer the soft top because its a "true" Miata. The RF is more hard top than it is a convertible. Since this is the closest to the original NA, the soft top is mandatory!
where is the imdb link to the best mx5 Movie, he was talking about @ 11:58 (i did not find it because i did not Catch the right letters for it, Mc groober something
This channel is so underrated! Great job guys, good to see locals :)
+TheTechSourceHD thanks!! Canada is the best
+Charles Jackson thanks buddy!
They do a FANTASTIC JOB, EH?
not anymore :D
Vojtěch Pithart haha yes! They blew up! Glad to see it, they deserve it :)
this channel is great it actually tests a car on what is trying to be and doesnt compare a mazda to a 400hp + car
+Jack Thompson exactly, thanks
This is 100% the best looking miata ever, and honestly I can't think of a better looking car that I see on the roads. And that "soul red" color is the nicest red I've seen on any car.
I'm so glad Mazda went back to the roots with the new Miata. Not too much power, but more focusing on making the most fun possible with an amazing shifter, hydraulic steering, etc.
your production quality is amazing for a channel of this size and i love the fact that you go through the comments and reply to people. keep it up!
+Sample Text thanks! Here is our obligatory reply
Sample Text I work in film. Also it's just the 2 of us doing everything. Thanks for noticing :-)
Great review, probably one of the best i saw about this car, you two really know what are talking about.
+vicesat sweet thanks man

TheStraightPipes it is yes and great review btw.

“The front looks like a trouble makers face.” Gave me a good laugh. 😂
Go with the base trim - Sport here in the US. No infotainment system, just a radio with BT connectivity. Works well enough, and no knob and screen to fidget with.

No

Arrowrooter35 - I actually use the rotary knob on my VW more than the touch screen. Once you get a feel for the pathing of the settings, rotaries can be really quick and safe. I can see that happening with the Mazda system as well.
Strangely enough most of the American car mags rate it as one of the best. Of course they do have to deal with GM's infotainment.
I kind of agree in that I like the simplicity of the rotary knob as it's true to the spirit of the car. Yuri bringin' back the nice shirtsss, great video guys, I really liked the opening shot at 0:03-0:25!
+Rob Pribish thanks!
No shirtless videos? That's what I read. Idea for next time.
Yuri, I know this is an old review, but I believe your takes on this car are absolutely perfect. Jesus this is a really good video, you guys.
Their infotainment isn't that bad. It was one of the good ones when they first came out with it in the Mazda 3 and stuff.
absolutely amazing cinematography
+minihjalte thanks!

How much for the turbo and did you like it tks
Great review! I like how you are not overwhelming the viewer with specs but instead totally get across how much fun this thing is to drive!

+Mike A. Share the videos help us out! Thanks
Bob Goudreau literally make no money at the moment from making these.
+Bob Goudreau yeah we love doing it and it would be nice if it paid off some day. We're literally just losing money on every video
+Bob Goudreau thanks!
Just discovered this channel. Great cinematography, genuine opinions and conversation. Subscribed!
+YouthAutos awesome thanks
You guys are too much fun to watch. Easily the most entertaining reviewers out there.
Great video. I own a 2017 MX-5 Club with the performance package and indeed you're right on the performance package making it the best configuration. I'm with Jakob. This is so much better looking than other generations.
Best MX5 review ever! Realistic, funny and still informative. Keep up the good work guys.
+Deniz Ultanur thanks!
I just bought a 2017! 10k miles. Love it!
Man, just rewatched this. Miss this energy from the Straight Pipes, more chill and less formulaic than their videos now. They seemed more excited about little things.
This is honestly the most humorous car review I've ever seen
This is a well made video. Keep up the good work. Wondering why there aren't much views.
+Jason Hermosilla tell your buddies to watch! Make them subscribe! Then the views might go up ;)
Started watching due to the Type R and now watching all episodes! Caught me by surprise. Great humour and production. Please keep them coming!

I agree. Best roadster ever!
i love you guys' review style, refreshing
+iKaBanana thanks!
Mazda should hire these guys! Very good at advertising!...I had fun just by watching as if I was there! Thumbs up!
Awesome video guys ... what a terrific way to spend a day - cruisin' in an MX-5!
+Mr. Mazda absolutely
I have a 2016 automatic, and news flash, its still fun in a corner, i get both slap stick and paddleshifter options if i want them but i dont have to worry about a clutch in traffic
I really want this car so bad. I've driven for work once and I fell in love with the drive
Jeric Tamayo I hope you get it. It's so fun in 3 to 4 rpms
I just rented that car for a day in the Canary Islands and it’s mega! I love it so much I’m considering how to live with it as a daily driver even though I have 2 kids!
First, I found the jeep video, then I found this, my favourite car's review
Awesome vids !
Keep it up :D
+Leslie Lai HK Awesome thank you
Guys, this is easily the best review of the ND MX-5 on UA-cam!
Lol no
i think im in love
Deniz Sen sorry. I'm engaged.
Yuri Tereshyn divorce. I’ll give you 1 million. Hehe
I think in 2017 is when the Miata finally became AWESOME, and only getting better. Mazda plans another huge improvement in the 2019 models
Seriously the video work in these videos is top notch!
+Eric Vilendrer thanks
I will have an mx-5 next week and it is soooo difficult to wait! 😂
excellent channel. Recently discovered with this video. Love the location and the chat between you.
+askani2 awesome thanks!
automatic mx5s means more spare parts for the manuals in the future.
Great editing and camera work! It's great to see this channel improve.
+andrewia thanks
got the same case on my Pixel
+Mateo12485 clear cases are the best!

Best MX-5 review I've seen.....To the point!. Keep it up guys.
From the UK: more please. You folks continue to put Top Gear to shame. Every time.
New miata rf video tomorrow
I have this version currently... awesome vehicle and its low key fast as hell...and everybody compliments the red color scheme 💯💯💯💯💯
That $41k price point for the GT is just brutal here. Even if the other trims were priced just a little bit lower I feel the MX-5 would be selling better. Especially when its's going up against probably its biggest competitor, the BRZ/86
Miata is always the answer. ;-)
I daily drive a 2018 GT soft top. In the dozen or so cars I’ve owned or daily driven, this is my absolute favorite. And while I wish mine had the LSD, it’s fine without it for just street use.
You guys should try to drive a mazdaspeed miata NB or a turbocharged NA sometime. Always like it when you review older models.
The intro edit on this video DOPE 👌🏼
why has this channel not hit 1 million subs yet
+Justin Kwak share the videos :)
You guys are fantastic. I’m so glad I found you!
+Jared Stephenson we're glad you found us too
New Ontario subscriber here, thanks to the Savagegeese referral. I've owned the GS version of the MX-5 ND for nearly two years, and you guys nailed it. Great to discover more quality Canadian content...keep 'em comin', eh!
+ShakingTwoTrees2012 oh right on!
Yuri! The ultimate Miata movie is LOOPER! Young Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) restores a Miata (an NA, your favorite, no less) - it gets exotic status because no one in the future has non-automated, gasoline-powered cars! Surprising amount of screen time for our little NA in red. Plus, how could you not love a movie with not one but TWO Bruce Willis... es?
VERY good review. You had me hooked from the start with your super speedy introduction, as if you couldn't wait to go out and drive haha. Nods head and tips hat.
+Testacorsa haha thanks! Check out our other reviews
"Wait, it's all Mx5?"
"Always has been."
this might be my next car. I love small cars that can handle and have great manual transmissions. this one fits the bill. I have a 06 forcus se 5speed and that car can handle almost like the SVT focus. I also have a 2018 WRX 6speed. WRX is a nice drive but it feels like a big car.
WOW! You guys have really great color grading/composition/framing/audio. WTF, but anyways it is still a Miata!
Wow, thas just amazing review you have guys!
+Vladyslav awesome thank you
All MX-5's/Miata models are/were very good. I wish they could get the RX-7 back on the road. . . .
The limited slip diff is only available on the club trim here in the states. +1 Canada haha. 🙂
+Gerald Bostock haha yep
Awesome review ! Almost hate to admit it.. but I like that car ! Sport package sounds like the way to go. Its how I ordered my 15 GT : base, performance pack and cloth recaros bang !! win win !
+5abivt perfect
I just discovered this channel. Love it love it love it!
You should do a review on the Jaguar F type R
+Happy vaisakhi Manjal we may do that in the future
in the uk we can get the 1.5 which is even revvier (7500 red line) and 2150lb.. very cool - and 158 bhp with remap. and 16" wheels with 50 profile
Miata has a big SMILE ! -Always !
great video. MX5 is a car you spend twice the time saying "xxx doesn't matter" vs "xxx is really good"; while GT86 is completely the opposite
you guys are right talking about how awful Mazda's infotainment system is.
+Lionnel L so much better for infotainment!
Unless we disregard we buy the car over entertainment system...
I like what this car’s about but I much prefer the hard styling of the brz. Also more power and more usable. Backseats + slightly bigger trunk.
im wondering if youve driven the NC as i fit in that and im 6,2 and a half , well, with seat tilted and my knees are a little tight on the steering wheel, (why oh why dont mazda do a flat bottomed steering wheel for the MX5?! ) but head room ok for me in the NC , havnt been in an ND yet.
Love these two! subbed!
+Poshi xi thanks!
Still the most fun car I've ever driven, and not even close to the fastest.
Entertaining and informative. Great video, man
Omg u guys were amazing! Love the cat but I'm going automatic lol
I agree with Yuri. The RF looks so much better! And the new Mazda MX-5 lost some cute character looks of old ones.
RF review this Thursday
Hi guys, I enjoyed watching your review for the MX-5 2017 and how honest and simple conversation about the likes and dislike you both have about the car. However, can you tell me why you really prefer the soft top against the RF? Because I too like the soft top though some said they hardly have difficult time talking normal compared to the RF, did you guys experience that too? Thanks and keep up the good work. It is great to watch locals do reviews.
+Nath M prefer the soft top because its a "true" Miata. The RF is more hard top than it is a convertible. Since this is the closest to the original NA, the soft top is mandatory!
you guys make the best videos!
I have a Focus ST and I will buy the MIATA next. I will have 2 EXCELLENT cars!
where is the imdb link to the best mx5 Movie, he was talking about @ 11:58 (i did not find it because i did not Catch the right letters for it, Mc groober something
+ma6netho macgruber!
Best car walks rounds. Better than sitting in the car talking specs sheets and pushing buttons.
Canadians do say "eh" huh
Do we? We don't even notice
TheStraightPipes ya ... we do.
I see what you did there at 5:02! That rainbow. 😂
"maybe" you're a hipster? hahahaha. You guys are awesome, great dynamics between you two.
mx-5 NB 1.8 with a torsen diff beats everything :)
