  • Sometimes, doing nothing is the best course of action! Aris does a pretty good job of explaining how to hit the brakes when your opponent is flailing. Probably no better place to explain this than during a live match.

just a thought here but like I really feel like Aris is a much better teacher than TheMainManSWE. The fact that he teaches these concepts out of nowhere during stream and still manages to word it alot more concisely than MainMan's full fledged tutorial videos is pretty cool. In the end though, we all gotta take whatever knowledge we can get. Then again, just a thought.

20 years of tekken and I was just organically learning this against a mighty ruler in player who MADE me think about the strategy during a long dm of me just getting wrecked. By the end of the session I was trying to make him do stuff cause there was no way I would win if I didn't. Really nice to have it put in words for me so I can continue to learn to effectively control a match up.

To make what Aris said even simpler just think of the wake-up Shoryuken Ken's in SF4. That game brought so many new/noobs players in and wake-up Shoryuken/Ultra was the staple go to panic button. If you were patient you could 100% of the time bait out that panic button and either out right win the match or get a huge punish. Sometimes your opponents biggest enemy is himself. While this is very basic knowledge it is extremely important to remind people of it. Fantastic advice without a doubt.

Sure, it's a great tip. It trully is. But I feel like you'll end up turtling if you're "waiting for your opponent to kill himself".
For instance, I play Hwoarang, and since Hwoarang is really rushdown oriented, it feels like I'm not using the character properly if I play the waiting game like that. When you watch really high level players, like Asellas (Hwoarang main) he's always pressuring, he's at the opponent's face 90% of the time. Sure, he moves around, he is able to apply this concept from the video in his gameplan sometimes, but it's not really something he is up to that much. And he has success with his play style, he sets the pace of the game. That's a major struggle for me, because when I try to apply the tip from the video, I end up turtling and not really doing something, I feel. But when I try to apply pressure, my options don't really work, they get beaten by dick jabs, or people knocks me out of flamingo stance randomly; then I try to use the flamingo power crush, and people defend and punish... So I'm really lost here. I'm trully between the cross and the sword.
    PS: I'm at yellows.

The amount of games you can win with Lili by doing nothing but KBD and whiff-punishing with her demoralizing f4 for 23 dmg + a knockdown every time they press a button is enlightening when you make the change from aggression to passivity.
Obviously this goes for any character but the mixup here is people see a Lili and usually expect a party animal. Not one who’s “running away and won’t fight fairly”. Less really is more a lot of the time.

Kazuya is extremely hard to win with. Plus this guy is not using his most powerful tool much: electric

addyaustin just because it’s a good move doesn’t mean you can just throw it out when every you want. It can be easily sidestepped and high crushed. Like every move in this game you need to use it at the right time.

Eq_NightGlider_ i am not saying that he should electric blindly all the time. But the problem is, hes not using it ENOUGH. When youre maining a mishima, youre supposed to LOOK for opportunities to electric. It is an excellent pressure tool as well if you use it properly. Just watch how mainmanswe plays with kazuya. I never saw him once do a double crouch dash ewgf to quickly close the gap and catch aris off guard. You need to do mix ups as well. Kazuya has very less tools though and you have to work really hard to get the damage.

My 1st time in tekken yesterday i put in 2 rounds vs everyone in ranked... I still lost like everygame... And won once... But just the fact i put in 2 rounds vs a 141 win nocturn... Or whatever his name is... Its funny i kmew everything he was gonna do im just not used to the moves or side step/couch speed... I even told him you're not good... You're To predictable... I only know 3 moves thats why you're beating me... And the spamming low spear crap... Like if i new like 2 more moves id whip the floor with him... One of those where you know whats gonna happen next but you not used to the imputs... Litterally every match if the game did the moves i wanted, id win prefect everytime.....

      1. In ranked you play against people at level similar to you so this 141 wins didn't mean anything.
      2. You lost and still wrote him a hatemail saying how he's bad? Also it's obvious that he's bad if he was your rank and you just started.
      3. Maybe go learn a character and stop pushing random buttons because it certainly won't male you better.
      4. You wouldn't win perfect, you're just bad and need to feel better.
      5. I know this comment is 2 years old but I needed to reply because it's commedy gold lol.

If your opponent is winning by throwing out random moves, then you're defending wrong.

This is a really bad Kazuya for Juggernaut tho. Is this on PC ? Because my Warrior Kaz on PS4 is like a million times better. This Kaz is just mashing random shit and not punishing at all. Also bad mind games and no electric punishes
