- Here's my take on Rick Wakeman's Excerpts from The Six Wives of Henry VIII, a solo piece that he played with Yes on their 1972-73 tour, and the Yessongs live album.
I tried to stay rather true to the original performance and the sounds he used, with a bit more of an updated sound.
Thank you to my dad, a fellow musician and Yes/Rick Wakeman fan, for helping me with the engineering and overall performance of this piece. Also, I'd like to dedicate this to the man himself, Rick Wakeman, a life-long musical inspiration of mine. Hope you enjoy it!

I'm an old guy who had very few piano lessons when I was young. Back in the late 70's when I was a teen, we had a grand piano in the house. I remember getting the music to this, having the album and learning this piece. It took me forever!
I got to the equivalent of up to the 5 minute mark in your vid and just could not pull off the rest until it got to the sirens and the two fingered down the keyboard part at the very end of the album version.
Oddly, I had the chance to see Rick Wakeman in a very small venue 30 years later at The Founders Inn in Virginia and had a chance to have an accidental one on one meeting with him and was able to shake his hand and have a quick chat with him with no one else around.
I am glad to see that 40+ years later from when this piece came out, there are still some young folks out there like you who appreciate and recreate this music.

When I was 12 I listened to this all of the time while all of my friends were listening to Aerosmith and Zeppelin. Thank God this is still being kept alive and well in the hearts of the young.

Fantastic work! I tried my best to learn this by ear about 20 years ago but only got some of the way through it. I remember discovering Yessongs in my older brothers' record collection in the 80s and it changed my life! I decided to keep going to piano lessons. I hope more younger musicians like yourself keep this level of musicianship alive. Peace and love.

Rick Wakeman was one of two musicians that inspired me to continue playing keyboards after my childhood days many many years ago. This song continues to be one I still strive to play well. This young artist has done a great job mastering the various parts and creating similar sounds that Wakeman used... keep it up! Absolutely outstanding!

You had me convinced until the finale. Perhaps because Rick has so many different renditions of this medley, the one played jumps out from the one I am used to hearing. However. This is an outstanding performance with phenomenal multi-instrument musicianship. Beautiful.

I was about 12 years old when this came out. We had a pretty nice quad setup and this album made it sound the best. Have rarely, if ever, seen someone take these pieces on. Rick at his best. You did an incredible job!

Back "in the Day", this was the Prog Keyboard Piece which we all Aspired to, hoping some day to learn all of the Voicings, and memorize the Complete Transcription found in Yes Complete Songbook. Well done, somebody has finally reached this seemingly unreachable goal in Music.
